Well, we know she will ALWAYS bring up her lover. She never forgets to defend him. Did she mention Hailey? Or, was it just all about Billie and how she feels and her undying devotion to Shawn?

Besides, why would it OFFEND anyone who cared about Hailey that these local volunteers dedicated themselves, sacrificed their own daily needs, for months to search through ugly dirty rough terrain, in the hopes of finding Hailey? They searched abandoned buildings, they could find her alive and being held somewhere. Doesn't Billie wonder if she is out there somewhere that these searchers might find her?

It was a SEARCHERS APPRECIATION DINNER. Apparently people got their wires crossed, because some people who were putting on the dinner thought it would be appropriate to play a video of them searching for Hailey.
THESE ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS. It may have been deemed offensive or heavy handed by those who do this professionally.

But that still, IMO , does not make Billie's words okay. She called them out for looking for a body. WTH? What are MK's searchers looking for?

His group is being paid and they do this professionally. So of course they are not stepping on her toes. But I bet they have the same suspicions about Shawn. They just keep it on the down low.

It looks to me like she called them out for thinking Shawn - the named suspect/POI - did something horrible to Hailey:

Since the Klaas, Laura Recovery, Team Amber, and the locals that comprise what I understand is called the "Hailey Search Team" are also looking for Hailey's body, I take what Billie says to mean that her objection is solely to anyone who thinks Shawn, specifically, killed Hailey, rather than the concept of searchers looking for Hailey's body.

This all gets crazier by the minute.

I swear she sounds like she is in Junior High School..It's gotten quite scary to watch and/or listen to Billie..It is ALL about Shawn, no doubt about it..In the end of just about every conversation, interview, friends posts, etc...it's about Shawn, not Hailey...What in the world does she expect people to make of that? Seriously..even people that have supported her. It's just dang near impossible to get past..I know I can't...

She's so completely immersed in her obsession for him, she just can't control herself from talking about him.

It disgusts me, because a mother of a missing child should be unable to control themself from talking about their missing child.

no reason given why video is the culprit, no reason given why the search crew member asked to have it turned off

As for Billie's comments I would like to see the unedited video to understand the context of her statements.

There has been friction brewing among the searchers/groups and am not surprised to hear people are upset. Unfortunately it seems to have come to a head at this dinner. Big egos, small room IMO.

Sorry to hear Hailey's Angels will no longer be searching. I applaud their dedication and their efforts to help find Hailey.

This article throws scattered bits together in an attempt to make a story.

No offense to anyone in Texas but the land around there does look ugly, understandably because its winter and there's no green growth.

It doesnt look as ugly as some of the actions of the principal people in this case..

I don't think Billie gives a flying flip about Hailey in any context. It's hard to tell because all she ever talks about is Shawn, Shawn, Shawn, Shawn, herself, and Shawn.

It was offensive to her because people could somehow think her loved one was involved...

if she wants to talk about offensive actions..i think hers are far worse. She has now run off the only people that were looking daily for her missing child. Hardly the actions of a concerned mother wanting to know where her missing child was.

It was an appreciation dinner and i guess they was just showing all that the searchers had been through to try and find a missing young girl. I dunno..it was for the searchers..and someone who had done no searching seems to have spoilt it for the people that had been out in the "ugly fields" trying to find Hailey.

The thing is she knows full well that KK and LRC are also searching in the "ugly" terrain..

Hitting the nail on the head is the fact that these searches have day in and day out seen BJD and just what she's doing..being with SA.. they also have had up close and personal contact with SA when searching the areas around his Grandmas where he'd sit for hours on end staring and watching them search for Hailey.. and BJD IMO behaves like a jr high spoiled child that doesn't get her way.. and jsut as someone upthread said KK and LRC are there and then gone out of her hair as well as they are the ONLY positive attn brought ti her in the least at this point..

Those Hailey's Angels are nothing but a thorn in Billie's side so she opens that intelligent mouth of hers and says she doesn't want association with ppl looking for a body..duh? hello? LRC and KK are looking for a body..

Honestly, I'm beginning to wonder what the "dirty fields" signify to her!

I would hate to live in a town surrounded by fields and creeks and see them as something ugly. My mother grew up in Kansas in terrain similar to that Texas and she and her family always said it was so beautiful!
I would love, love, love if they found Hailey alive. We all would. But at some point people have to get a reality check - I know that might not be a popular view, though.

BBM- Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Keeping that in mind as well as the fact that CCity is in a dry, West Texas area and in the middle of a drought in the winter, it's not so pretty. Little to no trees, just mesquite scrub. Dry, sandy fields with little to no field grass.

You can't possibly believe that the Nancy Grace show isn't edited! The transcripts cover just what is aired on the show. A live interview does not mean an interview is aired in its entirety. AND Blog Talk Radio (#17 as you note above) refers to the interview as "FOR THE FIRST TIME…BILLIE DUNN…UNEDITED AND LIVE". How they promote it is not controlled by BD.

I think she's playing dumb to protect her boyfriend and that also protects her. However, I have never thought she was very bright.

Her actions and statements for some reason keep reminding me of Edgar Allen Poe's short story: "Tell-Tale Heart".

As much as we all want Hailey to be found alive, there comes a time when reality should set in that there is a real possibility that she is no longer alive. Billie should want Hailey found no matter if she is alive or sadly, dead. Her actions really irritate me to no end. She should be thanking the searchers for their determined efforts to find her little girl. Her actions are also suspect to me. Yeah, I know, it's just the way I think. I tend to be a very skeptical person.

Well, it should be obvious to anyone that the searchers are searching for a body, although if Hailey were to be found alive during one of these searchers that would be a grand reason for a big celebration. I've been following missing children and women cases for many years and I feel safe saying that when bodies are found, they are usually found in very ugly places. Rarely have I ever heard of a body being found in beautiful surroundings. I try to keep in mind that the loved person is already in a beautiful place and only their human remains are in the ugly place. JMO.
