I'm smacking the next person who gives us a "black thingy" update!

PASS THE ADVIL!!

:( I was gone for a few hours and didn't know I was not suppose to mention it again. :blushing:

They seem so confident that they are (or maybe they already have) going to find something in the specific areas around the house and in the house. They keep returning to specific areas and searching. I have to say they are being very thorough but what is making them keep returning to these areas?

Do they think that, if DB and JI are involved, that they didn't go far? Or do they think JI knows nothing and that it's only DB and she couldn't go far?
Could be, but could also think it is somebody close also. Boy, wouldn't they be quaking in their shoes if they are close enough to watch all of the action! Just speculation, though.

black thingys are the hot topic Patty.. not out of bounds... we just don't know what they are and why 46 of them were taken out..

(oh and the last live feed that went out still had detectives at the house.. so there could be more than that)

I don't know how you can argue that the warrant in this case covers a "pertinent" area within the house only when we know the search has been going on for hours both inside and outside the house. I've never seen a warrant that restricts LE to only a specific area inside a house and I don't believe this one does, either.

I wasn't arguing anything about this case at all; I was speaking generally, not specifically to this case.

In this case, LE still has to stay within the scope of the warrant, and that may include the entire house, or it might not. I don't know. I can't know. I'm not privy to the warrant.

But in the plethora of warrants I am privy to, they don't usually cover the entire house.

The justification could be that until the remains are unequivocally identified as Lisa an announcement should not be made. Just speculation of course!

There is a basis to your speculation. The remains of a young boy who was a murder victim were found in the Missouri River south of Council Bluffs, IA last week but the recovery was not announced until yesterday because LE wanted to be certain of identification. It was a horrific murder of the boy and his parents, who remain missing. A confession lead to the recover of the boy's body.

What do you think of the theory that the kidnapper could have spotted Lisa at the recent garAge sale and watched until they had their chance?

If a baby were missing in my neighborhood, I would be willing to put up with all the noise, all the media traffic, all the inconvenience, etc., in the hope precious baby girl would be found.

Hang in there, IDM! And TY for your on the scene info!
That is the only reason they are putting up with it.

I thought about that this afternoon when we were watching the live feed. The neighborhood was so deserted. Do they ask everyone to stay inside when they are there? I also was watching the house next door. Did not see a single person or movement there. My curiosity would be so huge I would be looking out the windows, etc. jmo

sorry but I have never seen a search warrant that did not cover the entire house. Of course LE has to stay within the scope of the warrant. No indication so far that I've seen that they are not doing so.

Did the Irwin's have a garage sale recently?

Hi everyone! Is the KMBC site the only site with Live Feed? Also, In Da Middle, how far do you live from this home if you don't mind me asking? Thx!
Same subdivision. Most of us have been here more than 20 years. A lot of those have been here 40+.

I actually heard on one of the interviews of the neighbors in the very beginning and it has stuck in my mind ever since. Every garage sale I have had; someone has asked to use the restroom or go in to try something on.

The one thing that I can't get past with the iintruder theory is all the lights being on.

Would a stranger who was able to see inside the house in order to watch what was going on, enter a house with all the lights on when they could just as easily be spotted?

Absolutely, and it would happen more often if people could keep their traps shut!! Sorry, I know that we all want to know what is going on, but in the long run that's not what is often best for the case. When the tighten everything up they lessen the chance of leaks (at least you hope that's what happens). This is not just a MP case where someone wandered off. There is foul play involved, a crime was committed by someone or multiple someones.
They may very well have found her, or evidence of her, or of the crime, we should be the last to know.

By the way, in trying to figure out what the black thingies are, I came across this forensic evidence site and browsed their products. I didn't find anything that really matched (except static shield bags, but I don't think there would be that many of them in this case?). However, as a WSer, it was very cool to see all the stuff available. Here's the link if you want to take a peek:

Quoting myself, but here's another interesting catalog (I could reeaaalllly get into this profession...:innocent:):

Great question Boodles! Do we have any experts that know the answer.

From a moral/ethical standpoint, I believe that they would have to let the family know right away. But, I don't think there is any law that says it needs to be public knowledge.

I wish I remembered the case. It was like 6 weeks ago. An 8 year old girl supposedly disappeared after SF dropped her off at school. They found her in the late afternoon. LE had a news conference that night and they acted as if they didn't know anything. Next day they released the info that she had been found.
