LE serves search warrant on family's home

I doubt he'd toss out a detail without a basis for it. In the Ft. Bragg case you don't want us to discuss, the child was found in the attic. Many attics in ranch homes have a set of pull down steps. We have such steps and they do make a lot of noise pulling down and then "clicking" the folding steps into place.

I apoligize for bringing in that "other" case.

Oh no. Pull down attic stairs make a clicking sound. Mine do.

A ceiling fan that is not centered correctly would make a clicking sound.

It has been stated that Debbie had a fan running in her room. My son used to sleep wtih a fan on him year round. It was an oscillating fan; every time it would change directions, it clicked. I finally got used to the sound of it, but those first several weeks after it started clicking were annoying as hell-o.

It would be interesting to know which child it was that heard the clicking sound, and if this is the same child that was sleeping in Debbie's bed.

What if there were no clicking sounds and that is just the lawyer putting up some defense since the Mom heard nothing?

Hadn't considered that, but it makes sense. Debbi says the boys heard something to imply someone was in the house while she was black-out drunk. Maybe she doesn't want the boys questioned because of what they won't say.

Do baby monitors click when there is activity on them? I can't remember when my grandkids had them in their rooms?

I don't know, but this clicking would have to be pretty loud for the kids to hear it...especially if they were sleeping. Unless the boy who heard it heard it through the baby monitor. And one of the boys was in her bedroom that night. That's where Db says the baby monitor was.

Man, I need to see a layout of this house!!

I'm going to be up all night thinking of what makes clicking sounds.

A stapler? A staple gun? Hiding something in a wall and doing an 'emergency' fix with a staple gun? Wrapping something in plastic and stapling it closed?

My mind doesn't want to go there... :(

Kind of O/T but (or not, I dunno)...something interesting I learned from watching the testimony of a cadaver dog handler is that, they don't smell for dead bodies, they smell for decomposition. So if someone cut their finger, bled on the ground, and that blood decomposed, the dog would hit on it. Even though the person went on to live a long and happy life. (my phrasing, not the canine officers. ;) )

That is what the officer I spoke to meant. The body continues to release gases (decomp) and that is what the dog smells. I could have probably discussed this with him for hours but we both had to get back to work.

O/T We had a 9 year old (functionally younger though) boy go missing yesterday. He was found in a neighbors house today underneath the bed eating pistachio ice cream. They had come home to food wrappers all over the place. One happy ending at least!

Makes you think that they found some evidence today - no air media views and CSI team.. and then got an additional warrent for certian items based on what they know about the woods today and went straight to the house tonight... just makes you wonder if we are soon to find all the answers we seek - I hope so

They just said on KMBC 9 News that there is a patrol car in front of the house & in the back of the house.

I thought that I remember one of the national news programs, possibly NG, that luminol had already been used inside the home? I thought she mentioned that when she was talking about Lisa's bedroom window being covered in black plastic to block out light.

I'm not sure that is why there was black plastic over the window. In one very high profile case in Maryland the evening news showed footage of a crime scene/house. The room was lit up in blue from the luninol and because the window was not covered it could be seen on the street. Very frightening and memorable...20 plus years ago, now.

Then again, maybe they do cover the window so people on the street can't see the blue glow. It is VERY disturbing.

how about this for the clicking sound to shut the dog up so it wouldn't bark?

Good idea, Lera.

I think the Irwin's dog and the neighbor's dog may well have barked. It's been reported that they 'bark at everything'. If they do, that just means that no one notices. It's not out of the ordinary.

Flip flops click--kind of.

A cig lighter.

A medicine bottle clicks.

And so do pills as they hit the bottom of a trash can or land in the sink to go down the drain.

Would the popping of the tops of a beer can sound like a click to a child?

Well, actually, if anything had been taken with the parents consent to search, you will see the parents signature on the bottom of esch inventory sheet - that is SOP. That makes it admissible in court.

Sometimes LE will go ahead and get a search warrant while searching with consent if they find anything interesting. Other LE will wait at the scene until the warrant itself has been brought before even touching any potential evidence.

We do not actually know how many warrants LE has had and they are not telling. We do know about this particular search warrant because LE did not care if that information is out there.

We did not see the search warrant for cell phone records, but you can bet they had one early on. I am well satisfied that LE has been very careful as has the FBI. Neither are stupid, IMO.

Your right . We all should remember that a search warrant is a legal device to preserve evidence that is found for use in trial.

If they did it in the daytime, they may have needed to darken the room.

My laptop mouse clicks...............drives me crazy.
