On March 10, 1997 a still unidentified man walked into a convenience store in Cozad, Nebraska and brought a bottle of soda. When he walked up to the counter, he demanded that she empty the register, he then told her to lay on the ground. He then fired three shots at her, two pierced her arm the other pierced her skull, proving fatal.
The man walked away from the store with approximately $150, a pack of cigarettes, a lighter, his soda and a full tank of gas. The store surveillance system shows a grainy photo of him in the store, and his car in the parking lot (which according to investigators appears to be a 1993-1995 red 2-door Pontiac Grand Am) that had no front license plate. The back license plate was impossible to read on the surveillance footage.
