Bbm - their engagement story was known in the book you reference. Sheila E called Prince when she heard he was hospitalized a week before he passed...I believe her. Imo -she truly loves him, they had a friendship that spanned decades, and I agree with her - his vault music should not be released. At least not anytime soon.

Not sure she is taking charge - I believe she is offering her help because she knew the man so well musically.

Yes, I am a total Sheila E fan - she's mega amazing all on her own. But, I also hear her sincerity in the recent interviews. And, I do think Prince's family need good people and guidance in their court right now.

BBM. I remember Prince helping out Sheila E. launch her career back in the day, and them being an item. I think she's justified in bringing up their relationship now, because everyone else is bringing up his marriages, but not mentioning her. I wonder why they didn't get married??

Well, according to Prince in interviews, the music is all ready to be released...as is...
I am not advocating immediate release, but was a bit surprised to,hear that she is against releasing it at all.

According to her book if I remember right, they more or less had creative differences and sort of drifted apart.
And Prince was known to in his words ..." Only be monogamous to God " .... Take that for what you will.
Don't get me wrong, I have always like Sheila, she is a bad 🤬🤬🤬 drummer and a fierce performer, just a few things I've heard attributed to her this past week have given me pause ..
I just don't think he ever got over the loss of the two babies with Mayte....:-(

Neither Sheila E. nor any brothers/sisters/nieces/granddaughter of a dead half brother or anyone else will make ANY decisions regarding what happens to ANY of Prince's music. The Administrators who have been appointed by the Probate Court are in charge of everything at this point. Again, the duty of the Administrators is to gather together all of the assets of the estate and then determine the value of the assets. They most likely will hire outside experts to assist with this. Just like you hire a real estate appraiser to help determine the value of a building, there are experts who determine the value of music catalogs.

All of this kind of thing is overseen by the Probate Court. Could a potential heir at some point object to the values placed on things? Yes, they can. But they would need to get a good lawyer and file the proper Motions in the Probate Court to do so. Plus they would need to be prepared to prove their own position with facts, not mere speculation.

Most strange to me in these kind of cases are these people who crawl out from the woodwork claiming to be a "long lost child" of a celebrity because "my mother told me she once had a fling in a broom closet with _____ and I was the result". Yeah, right. "And I was always going to give him a call about this but just never got around to it until now that he has died".

Oh wow ! I was reading the other day about heir hunters having hundreds of people staking claims to be his half siblings or live child .They have to evaluate each claim and if it is deemed credible delve farther into it .

Thanks for clearing that up about the Administrators.
I've always heard the saying that when people die the cultures come out...sad, but true many times .

Bbm: You know the press is looking under rocks for a story - I think it is the other way around, the press is bringing it up. I think because Sheila E has already written a memoir - she is comfortable with being interviewed. And, I think she's smart and genuine, both in her obvious grief and in setting the record straight, herself. It will all fade soon.

Next up, the biographies and (oh I hope not) Hollywood mashup rock-u-mentry-docu-drama, something, something...

Publishing Prince's music posthumously is a ginormous, and I want to say perhaps a "foreboding" undertaking - The Q comes up - would Prince approve? "The Vault" conjures up ancient Egypt - It's like curating the King Tut exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art... Do not believe the vault music is necessarily ready-to-wear...

Probate Firm Says Another Heir Could Be Named to Prince's Estate

A Los Angeles-based firm claims there is another heir to the fortune left behind by Prince.

Right now, some experts believe the total amount divided among six family members could be as much as $300 million.

"No one has come forward suggesting that Prince had a will," said Chris Burns, a lawyer with Henson and Efron.

With eight siblings, two that have died, it seems the inheritance would be split six ways. But Los Angeles-based Heir Hunters International says Prince's half brother who died in 2011, has a granddaughter.

"She will inherit the share that her grandparent would have been entitled to inherit," Burns said.

Heir hunters are investigating a 'legitimate' claim against Prince's $300million estate by a man who says he's the singer's secret love-child, Daily Mail Online can reveal.

Investigators at Heir Hunters International - which specializes in genealogical research and finding heirs across the globe - have been contacted by the man who appears to have a genuine back story and claim on the singer's vast estate.

The 'love-child', a man in his 30s and from Prince's home state of Minnesota, is believed to be the product of a fling the Purple Rain singer had with an as yet unknown woman in the mid-80s.




This individual claims to be offspring of Prince's father, John Nelson.

Mr Nelson, better known as jazz musician Prince Rogers, died on August 25, 2001, aged 85.

Any sibling - full or half - of Prince stands to inherit millions of dollars under Minnesota law - providing no child of the star is found - and all 'legitimate' claims will be thoroughly investigated.

Yes...I do believe he would approve as I have heard him discuss it in several interviews...the music as he put it is ready to go...
I don't think he would lie to us about that

Just one interview where Prince talks about the vault..I know I've heard him go more into detail.Prince has his own record label.
