I think he did it on purpose , what in the hell else would the remark "wait a few days before you shed any tears for me" mean , and I am still profoundly sad.
He just got his beautiful custom made purple piano!! I'm sure he was excited about playing it for a long while. I feel pretty strongly that it was an accidental overdose. Taking painkillers, especially with other meds is like playing with fire. You never know what combo or dosage will knock you over the edge...to the other side.

When we get these tox reports back, let's remember, there is a difference between an opiate overdose and opiate poisoning. Lets try to remain open minded.

The ME will be able to determine many things from chronic use (state of liver, kidneys, etc.), to lethal levels enough to differentiate accidental from intentional.

I think because it is unknown, because he was so private, because he could not be saved, it all has created a giant need to know why, myself included. And the other piece is no matter what it is; it does not change that he was a creative giant, a shining star, a beautiful and beloved human being. …Gone way too soon.

Prince was of an age where the body cannot handle filtering and expelling toxins the same way as a much younger person. A medical doctor would know this – imo. So, there is a larger issue that I think is coming to light about perhaps exposing an epidemic in prescribing very, very heavy duty, dangerous, super addictive drugs without the appropriate monitoring of physical and addictive tolerance. So, what medical doctor continues prescribing these drugs when the circumstances become dire?

Hoping this is a wakeup call to the AMA as well.

Fans' Holy Grail: Unreleased Songs in Prince's Vault

attachment.php

The Prince vault may have taken on a mythical status but it's an actual secured location on the grounds of Paisley Park. The compound's lead architect, Bret Thoeny of California's BOTO Design, said the musician asked for a walk-in repository similar to a bank vault.
"He wanted a place to keep his master recordings, but at the time it was very important to keep this a secret," Thoeny told CNN.

I am curious about the elevator. Is anyone aware of where the elevator is located, is it in a public area or a private area of his home?

I ask because I recall an interview from a few years ago (sorry, can't remember where I read it or by whom so I can't provide a link) and the author had been invited to Paisley Park over a period of a week (I think). The author noted how PP was wired for sight and sound; Prince would invite people over and effectively 'spy' on them to gauge reactions to his music. I am sure I read that the entire complex was able to be watched and listened to. I am interested to know if these cameras and listening devices were operating all of the time or only when it suited Prince's needs.

I think you may be talking about Kevin Smith....Chaka mad ...lol

You would think so. Also it might have been a good idea to have someone staying with him in case something else went wrong.... as it did :(

Did he want to be alone? Was he usually alone at Paisley Park? So many in his entourage you would think he were rarely really alone in that building?
I don't know ......... it's so sad no one was there to help him :(

So much of this leaves me wondering

I thought I would post it while it is available - hope it doesn't get taken down.

Prince did not want Paisley Park to become a Graceland.

"Prince himself was quick to rectify, telling Time Magazine in 1990 that he didn't want his guests to "feel like they've walked into Graceland" and designed Paisley Park in mind of that. While Graceland was homely and stacked with iconography and memorabilia, Paisley Park has remained a structure with a deliberately uninviting, angular exterior which allegedly betrays the treasure trove of delights to be found inside."

Believe Prince would be reassured that Sheila E's presence is close by. I think Prince and Sheila E were as tight as they come musically. They were electrifying together on stage. And she has joined him onstage throughout the years.

I think she’s very concerned about protecting his legacy and music –

She clearly adores him and visa-versa.

-Imo - Nothing stronger than the Latin Jazz community when it comes to preserving a rich musical tradition.

Here’s Sheila E with her Dad’s orchestra. She is so awesome!

These were my initial thoughts, I did not post my view here because I did not want to get derailed and I am surprised this did not rear it's ugly head earlier.

http://www.msn.com/en-sg/entertainment/celebrity/prince-died-of-aids-says-new-report/ar-BBslV5M

Looking at Prince's face in recent years, to me this makes much more sense than the drug opiate claims and cocaine use, that is ludicrous.

I know what you mean. Been putting off broaching the subject myself but, I've run into a few reports indicating this too. It's why I referred to him possibly having some type of terminal illness :(

I've wondered the same thing but again we may never know. Articles also indicate the family not wanting that info leaked if it is true.

Right! But didn't he usually have body guards or near by. Or some type of entourage? Paisley Park is a big place. He could retire to his apartment and still have his peace.

Especially being he was not doing well the week prior. Just would seem prudent to have someone in the building just in case.

Wow that video was so awesome! Thanks for posting it. I loved every second. I was so crazy about Prince in the 80's that I took my 9 year daughter (who also loved his music) to his concert at the Long Beach Arena in 1985. I'll never forget it. It her first concert ever and 31 years later we remain true blue loyal Prince fans.

Prince was so humble and private I don't think many people realize the scope of his artistic/musical genious. Now we learn he was an incredibly generous and compassionate man with a heart melting smile. I am overwhelmed with sadness. He left us way too soon. RIP Prince, you are admired and loved.

Very interesting. Makes sense why the compound looks the way it does. A reflection of his humility?

Please don't kick me off the thread...I have to confess that before Prince passed away, I wouldn't have recognized his music at all, even Purple Rain. But after following along on this thread, I hum Purple Rain all the time. :blushing: I just want to thank you all for posting videos and your precious memories. Music is very important to me, and even though I probably wouldn't have been a huge Prince fan (Jackson Browne is more my style), I now see and appreciate his musical genius. I had no idea! My heart goes out to all who are hurting over such a tremendous and musically personal loss. :heartbeat:

I hope you don't mind if I share a funny story about how Prince may have impacted the course of my brother-in-law's life. He is about Prince's age and is a very talented professional musician himself on piano, theatre organ and percussion. However, his musical taste runs to the 1920's to 1940's and classical. He dislikes "modern music" with a passion! After college, when he was in his 20's he dated a nice girl for awhile, but broke up with her. She was crazy about him, so we asked him what happened. He said, with a bit of a sneer, "She's a big fan of Prince and I can't stand him, so I knew I could never be happy with her." To this day, he has never married (except to music), and seems to be a confirmed and contented bachelor. It's probably just as well! But I wonder how his life would have turned out if he'd been just a little more flexible and not dumped her over Prince. I do hope she found someone who liked Prince as much as she did.

I can't imagine why anyone, after having a previous scare the week before, would ingest enough to cause death.
His sister isn't letting any grass grow under her feet. IMO

No matter who his heirs are, they have to get on top of the financial situation ASAP. There's a lot at stake and the estate needs to be protected, plus there are still bills to pay, and probably some salaries for his employees, etc. She can't take months to mourn and then try to sort it all out. It's a tough situation for her, because she looks greedy if she's handling things now, but she'd look incompetent if she waited.

....and he was found in an elevator on April 21. I am saddened too.

about Jehovah Witnesses & suicide:
http://www.4jehovah.org/my-jehovahs-witness-brother-committed-suicide/

To me it seems so contradictory that he was so careful about maintaining control of everything in his life, yet he was a Jehovah's Witness. The JW rules/beliefs are very strict and can be very controlling. People are "disfellowshipped" for a lot of reasons (which is so contradictory to Chistianity in and of itself). I wonder what appealed to him about the Jehovah's Witnesses.
