Lindsay Lohan Enters Rehab

According to the tabs, when LL had an emergency appendectomy on Jan 5th, her blood tests showed that her liver enzymes were very, very high. I am sure the doctors involved in the appendectomy would have strongly urged her to stop drinking and drugging immediately or she will DIE!!

Depending on what the blood work showed, this could be a life or death situation for this YOUNG gal. But, like Lindsey, there are plenty of really young folks whose liver will just not tolerate the abuse of drugs and alcohol.

I have a friend in his 50's who drinks a LOT - beer only, but hey, it is still alcohol - and amazingly his liver enzymes come back just fine. Go figure! On the other hand, I have another friend whose brother died at age 32 from liver failure brought on by his failure to stop drinking after being warned by doctors that his body just could not tolerate alcohol and that he would die if he did not stop drinking immediately. (He did not believe the doctors and kept drinking. As, apparently, does Pam Anderson).

Once the liver stops working correctly, you are truly screwed! No second chances on this.

Best of luck and best wishes to Lindsey at this time. And yes, I too wish Britney would get into a program also. Forget the career, she has two young babies who need their Mommy.
Yes the fact that your friend died at age 32 shows how dangerous alcohol can be--Glenn Quinn, the actor who played Becky's husband on the Roseanne show died from over drinking at age 29--Irish Whiskey

I knew him from 'Angel' I never put it together that he was the guy from Rosanne until I just read that. huh. It was so sad about him.

Just to clarify, I did some research, and Quinn died from a heroin overdose, not that it makes it any better.

One of the TV shows reported that Lindsey Lohan was found lying unconscious in the hallway of a hotel at 6:00 am the morning after the Golden Globes award show. So I guess that is what led the the rehab.

Reading earllier posts it seems that Lindsay hasnt got good role models in her parents. They are who we learn from. Parenting isnt an easy job as I know i am a mum of two girls 24 and 21 and they are leading good lives, because my hubby and me tried very hard to keep them on track. I feel for Lindsay and I hope she gets her act together so she can be a good role model for her siblings and all the fans that look up to her. Hang in there Lindsay, we are praying for you.

I feel sorry for all these hopeless celebs, I even feel sorry for Britney, I didn't used to....

How can you not feel sorry for someone who has total disregard for themselves, has everything that should make a person happy and just isn't happy?

I hope Lohan gets the help she needs this time.

In response to her daughter seeking treatment for drug and alcohol addiction, Dina Lohan has said the following:

"I'm so proud of her. She's really in a good place right now, spiritually and mentally. She's in an amazing, phenomenal place. She's 20 and she's solid, and she's doing what she needs to do. I don't know that many people who are that secure. It's all about her, and getting back on track. She's fine -- she's amazingly fine."

It's All About HER!!!! This is exactly the lesson I want to teach my children!! HA HA

I've told my children over and over throughout their lives, that it's NOT all about them! No wonder Lindsay has so many problems, since the world apparently revolves around her

This woman is a poor excuse for a parent! :( :banghead:

From what I've heard, this rehab is an out patient thing at this point and in one week they re-evaluate to see if changes need to be made (in house etc). If she's been going to AA for a good while and then went to the party, obviously SHE isn't or wasn't taking her problem seriously. And I think even her Mom has mentioned drinking being a problem "for a while". If I'm Mom, I'm all up in her face with the rest of the family pushing her to treatment. Hell, she's not moving out on her own unless she goes to court to be emancipated. I know you can't force a drinker/druger into stopping, but any responsible caring patient is moving heaven and earth to try and steer them that way. As young as she is and as severe as it seems her addiction is, this girl will drink herself into an early grave if something, somehow doesn't wake her up.

I've not followed her ever because a lot of these young hot famous girls are a bunch of self absorbed idiots in my opinion and while I don't advocate spanking (though I think a swat at certain moments isn't the worst thing ever) I think these girls need to be turned over someone's knee if not literally, at least get their little spoiled butts told off verbally.

While the old days parents and agents ripped child stars off, I don't think giving them complete access to their fortune is any better. I'm sure in a lot of these cases the parenting is not great either, but keep them in the family home and give them an allowance and by that I don't mean $10,000 a month.

Did I misunderstand? Lindsay Lohan is 20 years old... she doesnt need to be emancipated.

There's one small thing I don't understand here. How is it that the clubs these young girls go to never get in trouble for serving alcohol to a minor. It's not like it's a secret- they are always making the news and tabloids for being too drunk at some place, passing out, or fighting- etc.. There are often pictures of them with drinks in their hands.... Why don't the clubs ever get in trouble for this? Obviously, it's illegal to serve drinks to anyone under the age of 21!

This is PURE speculation and gut feeling, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mom Lohan had a little substance abuse issue of her own.

I don't follow these folks, but I was sort of under the impression that she's been out on her own for a while, not just as a 20 year old. And where was the encouragement for her to go to college? If her career flounders (and if she can't stop drinking it's quite likely to) what does she do then? What sort of training. Maybe she's just gone out on her own since turning 18, and granted, I was on my own at 18, but I was a hell of a lot more mature and responsible then she is now. I think part of her problem is weak parenting (at best) maybe just lousy parenting. Even her agent (I assume she has one) is failing her - you're an agent of a young person with serious alcohol issues and you let them go to this sort of party? Either I stop them, or I or some responsible person is glued to her. From what I've heard, she's had drinking issues for years, probably before she was an adult - that's what I meant really as far as parents stepping in. If she was drinking at 17 and earlier, she doesn't get out of the house even at 20 if she's my child.

I can't say for certain, because I don't follow celebrities at all- most of them irritate the heck out of me... but I think Lindsay Lohan's mother knows who is bringing home the bacon. Sadly, she probably also knows that if she upsets her daughter, she will probably be cut off. You hear of that allt he time- stars "divorcing" their parents. I guess mom could be more worried more about Lindsay supporting her and so maybe she just doesn't want to "rock the boat" so to speak. I can imagine that if she confronted Lindsay about her being out of control- that would upset her to no end!

This is in no way a fact. I'm only speculating... so I'll add here OMO- IMO- JMO!

I have several friends who have witnessed Lohan and her mom making their sniffing bathroom trips when out in clubs. She worked on a film that my former company was involved with and coworkers said that her mom is just as out of control.

This doesn't surprise me one bit. I think they are partners in crime.

It sounds like her mother needs to join her in the rehab.

I wonder if Lindsay dropped out of the movie voluntarily or if she was dropped FROM the movie. Movie making being the big business it is, who would want to begin a movie knowing how unstable this girl has been thus far? I would think the other actors would hesitate to become involved with her on a project, let alone the producers of the film.

And, if it IS the case that the producers pulled the plug on Lindsay, I think they should let that be known to the press. It would truthfully send the message to other "out of control" actors.

What bothers me is the way that Dina blames Lindsay's friends. Maybe Lindsay's a bad influence on them???

  • #39
Yeah, well, don't we all remember that kind of mother from when our children were young? Always blaming whatever their kid did wrong on another kid?

Again, it sounds like the mother also needs professional help.

I heard on the radio that other (non-celeb.) people that are also in rehab at Wonderland are fed up with Lindsey being there and receiving star treatment. Some are even checking out to go somewhere else. I can just see her in there skipping meetings for a massage or pedicure and bringing her diva attitude anytime the counselors try to talk to her.

I also heard that Mike Tyson just checked himself into this same facility. He's always been a mess too.
