There are a lot of people in this country who make an honest living serving tables and tending bar. There are a lot of things disturbing about with Jodi, the facts that she waited tables or tended bar are not among them.

Did I say anything disparaging about servers? Absolutely not. What I was saying is it suited her needs and she didn't care about work. And it IS easy to get a job with experience. How that sounded offensive is a mystery to me.

This is probably nitpicking on my part, but it's not the fact that he was paid that bothers me. All the other experts on both sides, including LE personnel, were paid as well. It's the fact that his opinion is based SOLELY on the fact that he was being paid. If Jodi needed somebody who could testify that the whole thing was an exorcism because Travis was the devil, Samuels would have been happy to oblige. If she said she suffered from Martian death ray induced amnesia, he'd have the "tests" to prove it.

O/T the real case that the book/movie The Exorcist is based on happened a few miles from house. Before my time, thankfully! :floorlaugh:

Exactly! He made it quite clear he is in it for the money, making at least two references to his income that I heard.

The sexy water amnesia, I firmly believe, is what they were going to go with until they became the laughing stock of that night's news/coverage.

I'm repeatedly shocked by how the defense team underestimates Mr. M. You would think they'd have learned by now that he leaves no stone unturned, he's not going to come in unprepared, and he'll call out anyone who's playing games. They keep thinking of him from their perspective and what they would do. They are not the consummate professionals he is.

Do you know what time Katie is scheduled for?

It says later, so I'm not sure Linda. I believe Dr. Glass is going to be first though.

Well, some servers ARE slow and need to be upgraded, augmented, and load-balanced.

In fact, the usual technology bottlenecks are bandwidth and slow servers.

Or do I have the wrong idea here? :innocent:

I was cruising through the timeline thread and came across the M.E.'s testimony about the path of the bullet during cross by wilmott.

Man, she got her butt handed to her. She was trying to get him to say the bullet didn't pass through the brain. When that doesn't work, she compares the shot to the head to people who show up in the ER with an arrow through their head.

I could never be on a jury in a long trial. I'm old and I forget things too fast!

I can head almost to the end of that 'he didn't know for certain that she was coming road', but he may have had some idea. After all, other PPL Mormons in West Jordan knew she was traveling from Yreka on June 3. As often as the two of them communicated, did she really keep it from him completely?

My thought is that she had to have some way to confirm that he would be there, because as much planning and premeditation as she put into it, JA certainly wasn't going to drive all the way down there only to find him gone when she arrived to do the deed -- unless she was going to simply hang out there, wanted or not, boiling rabbits -- or Napoleon -- until he returned.

Come to think of it, that would be just like her, now wouldn't it?

Well, she did know he was leaving for Cancun on the 10th. So probably a good chance he'd be home the week before. And she knew he was home on the 2nd for sure.

JW opened the door by going over EVERY SINGLE QUESTION, having him answer in excruciating detail! I mean, I've seen enough of JM during this trial to know I'm not going to try to pull one over on him by turning in something phony. Couldn't this severely impact Dr. <mod snip>'s career? Even the most lenient board would consider faking an answer sheet and lying about it highly unethical, I would think. :twocents:

And judges and other officers of the court don't think much of perjury, either.

If Nurmi was totally in the dark about this, I would think he would be madder than he!! and very insulted by what Samuels has done, as IMO, he should be. And JW as well. (But you get what you pay for, er, um, no, it's the State of Arizona, Maricopa County that will be paying his fee$. Maybe if this is proved, it could affect his payment....)

We see things like this, rarely, in court cases we watch, and we don't ever know if they are given any attention after the trial is over. Will this one disappear, or will we hear more?

If it had been done by the PT, the defense would ask for a mistrial, and it could be grounds for appeal... <smh>

IANAL and JMHO

There is nothing criminal about it unless it was a detailed escape plan or a request for a gun & knife.

This cracked me up! I had a visual...

Jodi in her little cell at night with her golf pencil hatching some elaborate scheme written on toilet paper and trying to pass it to one of her loony supporters.

She is so arrogant yet clueless. Much like the coded magazines she thought would make it past the jail personnel.

It must be pretty tough when your client admits shooting a guy through the head and so now you're stuck with trying to convince jurors that being shot through the head isn't so bad after all.

Or in a juror question! :)

My mom came into the living room upset last week when Judge Stephens read the "terrible" ptsd question. I told her I thought the judge read that wrong. The emphasis should have been on TERRIBLE... *giggle*

Right??

At one point, she even says "couldn't it have grazed the tip of the brain?"

The TIP of the brain?????

Those were the only calls that were shown in court for 6/2/08 between them. I do believe that Travis was finally laying it all out there and telling Jodi that it was completely over. My belief of that comes from the disconnect between the two calls and then the immediate call back that Travis did. And yes, all of the calls on 6/3/08 are so short that it is very doubtful that Travis even answered them. I believe it was said in court that most, if not all, of them went to voicemail.

MOO

snipped by me, respectfully.

these calls.......those calls on 6/2 were long and they were from him. maybe this was a long argument or breakup talk. aren't there some short ones from her to him on the 2nd also?

then on the 3rd, are these calls short enough that it's possible she didn't talk to him? i can't remember the phone guy's testimony on that.

I'm one of those that does not believe Travis knew Jodi was coming to his home. I'll list my reasons below.

There is a list of phone calls between Travis and Jodi that may show he had no idea she was on her way.

6/2/08 3:04 am 1011 seconds/16.85 mins Travis called Jodi
6/2/08 3:21 am 2450 seconds/40.83 mins Travis called Jodi

6/3/08 12:37 pm 17 seconds Jodi called Travis
6/3/08 1:51 pm 170 seconds/2.83 mins Jodi called Travis
6/3/08 8:16 pm 129 seconds/2.15 mins Jodi called Travis
6/3/08 8:34 pm 49 seconds Jodi called Travis

There are no other phone calls between Travis and Jodi after 6/3/08 at 8:34 pm. Jodi was in Sacramento, CA during the last phone call to Travis and claims to have decided at that time to go see him instead of going straight to Utah to see Ryan. If Jodi left CA immediately after getting her gas/Starbucks/making that last phone call to Travis she would have arrived in Mesa, AZ at around 3 am on 6/4/08. If someone is expecting you at that time of night one would expect for there to be phone calls between the two to make sure the one driving is ok and when they should arrive. Jodi claims to have arrived at Travis's home at 4 am, an hour after she should have arrived. Phone call records show that when Jodi did not show up at Ryan's as expected, he began to call her yet she did not answer her phone. Ryan continued to call her until he reached her and she lied about getting lost and sleeping on the side of the road.

Jodi knew that the doggie door would more than likely be in place, she also knew the code for the garage door, the doggie door was placed in a sliding glass door so that could also have been a point of entry. I firmly believe that Travis did not know Jodi was on her way and that he was not awake when she arrived. I firmly believe that Jodi let herself in and quietly snuck around the house getting onto his laptop and doing other things in those early morning hours.

MOO

I have wondered if JA secretly taped TA in phone sex on May 10 and then threatened to use it to scare potential girlfriends away or expose him to church people later in May. This could have prompted the texts from TA to JA on May 26 when he calls her a sociopath and "worst thing that ever happened to me."
Here is my question: maybe TA researched whether taping without consent is legal in CA and once he found it is not (I think that is correct although I am not sure it is true if the person being taped is in AZ) he called her (early AM calls on June 2nd?) and threatened to report her to law enforcement ( or get his PPL attorney to sue her etc.). This then sent her over the edge.... She heads to AZ and calls him On 6/3 saying she will drop by with her Helio phone (the one she had replaced by insurance unbeknownst to him after the one with the recording was lost/stolen/HIDDEN) to prove to him she has erased the phone sex recording.... He is relieved and lets her in and horror follows.

Well, on the bright side, I seriously doubt anybody in their right mind will be buying Dr. Fog's book. Maybe he can send JA an extra copy or two. :floorlaugh:
