The media's treatment of the case at the time says a lot about our society sadly... If LM did commit this atrocity just to be famous, it's a shame that the media bought into it and plastered his "modelling" pictures all over the front pages. It's sending out a message to other disturbed individuals - this is how to get famous! This is how to get 'groupies' and attention and become a household name! Ironically it makes me think of the writing LM supposedly left on the wall of the apartment - "If you don't like the reflection don't look in the mirror".
Plus the fact that the media attention has died down now - I wonder if that's because LM as someone who is seriously mentally ill, as an overweight man sat alone with his head down, not meeting anyone's eye, isn't as titillating as the outrageous, larger-than-life
