In hindsight, I am really glad that Mr. Rubert told the court how he faked mental illness to stay out of jail. I am not sure if he can get in trouble for revealing this information, considering he was in Canada when he did, but it was a risky move. It is like he saw what Magnotta was doing...

Oh yes...Mr. Rubert had LM's number, that's for sure. And he only needed a couple of days with him to figure him out. ;)

Under cross examination, the witness admitted he had a very lengthy criminal record, which the defence used to try to undermine Rubert's credibility.

Rubert has numerous sex crime convictions, one of which led him to a stint in a psychiatric hospital.

Asked about it by the defence, the witness directed his comment to Magnotta, saying, "I did what you're trying to do today, to avoid going to jail."

He said it many more times directly to Leclair but you get the gist. ;) The Crown really missed the boat with Mr. Rubert, especially if he was in the same hospital as LM was in Berlin.

Roy says #Magnotta wrote a "pretty crude" letter, created mood lighting in cell for nurse to visit. Nurse went on leave, Magnotta sad, anxious

It's tidbits like this that we aren't really getting. This was posted long after the break started.

What did he do - light candles, order roses and scent the room with aromatic oils?

Good thing he has his own room for his seductions. Mood lighting? I want some clarification on that one. :floorlaugh: And why isn't the letter being introduced as an exhibit?

This is exactly why he needs to go to prison. He'd be a danger to others in a psychiatric hospital I'm sure. And there seem to be some really gullible doctors in these facilities.

Hey wait a minute...didn't Karla also have a same sex relationship with some woman while she was locked up? Just another coinkydink. ;)

#Magnotta in hospital infirmary for several months now.

Not surprising that someone with mental health probs has such romantic attachment( the nurse)? #Magnotta

Shuyee Lee ‏@sleeCJAD · 31s31 seconds ago
Witness says no, some have stable relationships, some go into prostitution. #Magnotta

Shuyee Lee ‏@sleeCJAD · 31s31 seconds ago
#Magnotta had any troubles with meds? He told he had weight gain with one and stopped; other, hard to focus during court.

Shuyee Lee ‏@sleeCJAD · 44s44 seconds ago
How meds handled? Left up to him? Left with guards? Checks more specific? #Magnotta

Shuyee Lee ‏@sleeCJAD · 30s31 seconds ago
Health officials take care of it in detention centre. Some inmates try to hide taking meds, not the case with #Magnotta.

salimah shivji ‏@salimah_shivji · 34s35 seconds ago
Crown asks whether #Magnotta took his medication. Roy: Yes, he stopped 2x but told me when he did, said side effects too strong.

Shuyee Lee ‏@sleeCJAD · 1m1 minute ago
Defence has an issue he wants to address. Jury leaves. #Magnotta

Crown asks witness about any info about his previous files? Some info from #Magnotta, some from other reports.

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 4m4 minutes ago
#Magnotta has been on and off today - lawyers and judges discussing many points of law without jury

Shuyee Lee ‏@sleeCJAD · 4m4 minutes ago
Witness did not look at Berlin file or 2012 Mtl hospital file, wanted to look at more current files. #Magnotta

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 3m3 minutes ago
#Magnotta told Roy he had gone to Jewish General Hospital, but didn't discuss what was discussed. And that's the end of this witness

Shuyee Lee ‏@sleeCJAD · 3m3 minutes ago
Crown done, no defence redirect. Witness is done. #Magnotta

Lunch break until 1:30 pm. #Magnotta

Looks like the infirmary wing of the detention center is the safe place to be...

Former colleagues of a high ranking Montreal Police officer who was arrested and charged with selling confidential information to the Hells Angels are being asked to submit to lie detector tests.

The Journal de Montreal this morning reports that Roberge is being held in a cell in the infirmary wing of the Rivière-des -Prairies detention centre for his own protection.

So the infirmary wing is a better fit for an imprisoned police officer with no mental illness or other health issue. I think we can figure out what that means. ;)

LM knows what he's doing. And why is it that after a dozen years of the same mental illness and a dozen doctors, no one can seem to get his meds right? Maybe because he doesn't really need them?

Man, this is seriously disturbing... he tried to lure a nurse into his cell?? His filthy, filthy cell :p It's a good job LM is such a coward and won't ever try to hurt anyone unless he has drugged them unconscious first.

No, it's usual for the meds and even the diagnosis to take years to figure out. People call it the "med-go-round" :p
I'm still not sure what his diagnosis is currently - schizophrenia? What about the mentions of bipolar disorder? Has he ever actually been diagnosed with that? Could it be schizoaffective disorder? And I wonder what meds he is currently on.

  • #520
Interesting that despite all his apparent mental health problems LM apparently has no history at all of self-harm or suicide attempts. I guess he's too narcissistic to want to kill himself.
