She probably isnt that smart, but still most people know you dont touch a murder weapon and if they do i am sure they realize they messed with prints. Although under her circumstances i could see how a parent would grab something that could mess with evidence, remember Jon Benet, they grabbed her and fell on her and all kinds of stuff. Its in the heat of the moment you are not thinking rationally thats why i think it was strange she even thought about the fingerprints on the knife.

Oh yeah!!! I would have probably grabbed my child too. I would have been the first one to mess up that crime scene. :doh:

I think it is possible he slept through it. If there was any noise, maybe there was a fan on in his room - I actually turn mine on for white noise and it pretty much keeps me from hearing surrounding noises (which may be a bad thing!) Was it ever established if his bedroom door was even open or closed at the time? That could be a major factor too.


Also, I know my house is set up differently, but if I am upstairs and my husband is on the floor below, we cannot hear each other.

The TV was on in Darin's room and the TV was on in the family room, His bedroom was on the front side of the house and the family room kind of in the middle on the side of the house that faced the neighbor's house...I think. If that is not correct, someone jump in please. I also heard that there was a door at the top of the stairs, but I am not sure how accurate that is.

It is written somewhere that they did a sound test and that is was possible to have not heard it. But, my question is...if he couldn't hear a struggle, how did he make anyone believe he heard a wine glass shatter?

Depends on your theory of how the event started. If Darlie lost her temper and killed Devon out of frustration, she would have been left with "what to do with Damon." I think Katie's mom is saying that in her theory, they couldn't explain why a killer would kill only one child and not the other so they were almlost forced to kill Damon. Or at least felt they were. Self preservation over all other things, even their own children. Drake was safe because he was upstairs. Easy to explain why he was not attacked. Of course, you would have to believe the attack on Devon was sudden and unexpected, not premeditated or planned.

OK I am reading the transcripts now, still, and i am wondering if darlie didnt do it and there was a wild person on the loose butchering kids, why didnt anyone care to get drake and bring him downstairs to safety??? The cops found him and didnt even know there was another child in the house...

And both of them MacDonald and Routier were ingesting diet pills in the weeks prior to the murders. The diet pills factor big time in both these crimes, imo. These cases are so similar it's uncanny. Jongalt did a comparison of both crimes.

Yeah..but what about the friend/neighbor of theirs that heard Darin telling her that she was a gross fat pig? I am beginning to change my opinion about just exactly how much Darin did worship her! He also didn't show up at that hearing. Also, remember that little tiff that was overheard in the jail where Darlie tells Darin that SHE KNOWS he is seeing someone else, but that is just fine because she is also? She put some other ex prisoner on her visit list. Also, remember that time that he did cheat on Darlie fairly soon after they got married? I used to think he WORSHIPED her too...until I started putting together all the stuff that happened over the course of time.

I think this is an interesting observation. I have often gotten the impression in reading some of Darin's statements that the obsession might not have been as deep as people think. He was not so obsessed that the was willing to throw himself on the sword to save her. He said plainly that he wanted to help her but not if that meant he would trade places with her. I think there were clear limits to their love for each other, but I also think that they were very, very bonded in many ways. A real team, so to speak. I am wondering how that bond has been able to withstand the tests of time.

Is the mac Donald case the one where an army Dr. is convicted in the murders of his family. he had the support of the in laws at first but they later investigated the matter and had the cops persue him after the army cleared him. A hippie gang supposedly did it. If this is the same one, what do you make of the confession of one women to claim she was there wearing a blonde wig.

So lets say that darin didnt really worship darlie like maybe some of us thought he did, do you all still think he would cover up for her in these murders of his kids? I dont think he would, I do think he would IF he still worshiped the ground she walked on.

What if he is more involved than just helping her stage the crime scene after the fact? Do you think he would support her out of fear of what she would tell on him if he didn't?

Agree, Goody. There is a bond and I think that is why we don't understand what went on. I think they both manipulated each other a lot and I'm sure it got nasty at times. I can't imagine that that night was the first time Darlie threatened a divorce. Maybe this was the first time she was really serious and he knew it. Who knows. (I'm purely speculating her folks).

I made a comment the other day about the living room having high ceilings, I thought it was opened up to the stair case. I did see a real quick climpse of the ceiling in Unsolved Mysteries media on justicefordarlie. The ceiling is a foot or two higher than the windows. And from another couple of pictures and some of the police testimony, the stair case came down into the entry (I think), not the living room. So I guess what I'm trying to say is I think Darin would have had to heard it through the floor/ceiling. Does anyone know if the master bedroom was above the living room.

Did anybody save pictures of the house from when it was for sale?

I also think that they had to have a crisis going all the time. Some couples are like that. When they weren't buying something new, going on a trip, or planning some big family event, something had to take their attention....crisis will do just fine in such situations. People like that are very high maintenance and really hard ot keep up with. And very often they are very popular, the life of the party, and quite generous when the urge moves them.
