He was just brought back from the jail where trial was held to Souza, hell on earth. He was in a unit where only one inmate could be out of their cell at a time. Maybe he realized what the rest of his life would be like. Also Belichick last week said Hernandez was a heartbreaking tragedy. And the Pats are visiting the WH today, he'd realized what he could have had.

Aaron Hernandez, the former star tight end with the New England Patriots who was convicted of first-degree murder in 2015, hanged himself in prison on Wednesday, the authorities said.

He was discovered in his cell by corrections officers at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Mass., around 3 a.m., the Massachusetts Department of Correction said in a statement.

Lifesaving techniques were attempted, and he was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m., the department said.

“Mr. Hernandez hanged himself using a bedsheet that he attached to his cell window,” the statement said. “Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items.”

Depends on what kind of contracts there were. Or any life insurance policies. Unsure but according to MA legal stuff, since he had an Appeal started, his conviction of that is dismissed. So he only has the conviction of the gun charge from last week.

Will we see what the settlement between AB and AH was? :thinking: what is AB thinking. I sure had to read it twice first I thought it meant AB was dead.

AH was only slated to serve a little more time based on his gun conviction as he was found not guilty of the two murders. Most likely, he would have been out after a year or two for the gun crime.

Sidenote: Curious what the autopsy will show re his brain. So many athletes have brain trauma. Fact he died in prison is automatic autopsy. Surely not performed by the witness in his trial that would be odd. JMHO

I maybe misspoke as I did not follow that trial, but going by what the analyst said doesn't matter. And if I understood correct it was an automatic appeal due to LWOP. JMHO

“I know that’s going to be hard for a lot of people to swallow but if you die during an appeal in Massachusetts, the appeal of a criminal case, the conviction is vacated,” Legal analyst Peter Elikann said on FOX25 News.
Hernandez was in the process of appealing his murder conviction, which came with a life sentence with no possibility of parole.

“Clearly it’s a very, very narrow legal technicality,” Elikann said. “It’s not like you’ve been vindicated or people now realize you weren’t guilty or anything.”

He said everyone has the right to appeal and now Hernandez doesn’t have a way to exercise that right to appeal.
