New arrest connected to Aaron Hernandez murder case

Oscar Hernandez Jr. — no relation to former New England Patriot — was indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston for obstruction of justice, witness tampering and lying under oath. The charges stem from a gun trafficking investigation related to case against Aaron Hernandez in the murder of Odin Lloyd.

Busy day in the Hernandez world!

Snip from above article:

"The Boston Globe reported that a separate status conference was held Thursday in Fall River in the case of Hernandez's cousin Tanya Singleton, charged in the Lloyd case with contempt of court for refusing to testify before a grand jury and as an accessory after the fact."

I'm glad the older case got some action due to his newer case. What a nightmare for those victims' families who probably thought this day would not come !

Brawls and Guns

Daniel Conley, the Suffolk County DA who's in charge of trying him for the Cure Lounge murders, has a very strong hand going in: 80 pieces of evidence, including security-cam tape showing Hernandez circling the block till the victims' car takes off; a large witness pool that likely lists the Cape Verdean survivors; and – most importantly – the murder weapon. It was recovered last summer from the car of a woman after a minor accident in Massachusetts. The gun, a .38 revolver, belonged to "a football player friend" who'd left it her in her trunk, said Jailene Dias-Ramos, who grew up in Bristol, attended the same high school as Hernandez and carried a criminal record of her own. Ballistics have matched the gun to the Cure Lounge murders; if Conley can tie it to Hernandez that night, a conviction seems a matter of course.

Hernandez, already charged with the June 2013 execution-style murder of 27-year-old Odin L. Lloyd, was indicted Thursday by a Suffolk grand jury, which charged him with first-
degree murder and multiple gun offenses in the South End killings. He became a suspect in the double murder following the Lloyd killing, after investigators in the South End case remembered spotting the star tight end on surveillance video.

A bouncer from another nightclub also called police shortly after Lloyd’s murder, saying he had information that the two cases were related, according to court documents released earlier this year.

Hernandez remains a person of interest in a non-fatal, but otherwise similar 2007 double-shooting in Gainesville, Fla.,Florida State Attorney Bill Cervone told the Herald yesterday.
