Well, that's over. Finally.

oh, so what guy who plans to murder his wife and dismember her dragging and dumping body parts all over the city is househunting on zillow?
I think investment property for rentals.

Ha! No re-direct! Prosecution getting this next witness on, a crime scene investigator!

He's such a great hubby....planning on spending big money, using Ana's earnings, while he himself is a financial and family life liability.

Narcissists like to look magnanimous. Look at me! Look at what a wonderful person I am! Look at our great fancy stuff! (All while his mom is paying the rent, he has a large financial restitution to make and his wife has had to move away from the kids to support them.)

Defense is trying hard to suggest Brian was unaware of the affair, that he had no motive to murder.

Iiuc the State doesn't have to prove motive.

But even if Brian wasn't aware before 12/31, there's nothing to say he didn't learn about it in full on 12/31.

That was a worthless cross-examination.

State is going to end testimony for the day on a big note, I think.

Defense ended the laborious cross of the previous witness with a weak, "I'm done". I think he just couldn't stall any longer.

So instead of ending the day there, the State gets to.

It's going to be powerful, sobering and awful.

And what the jury will be left to think on for the weekend.

Bet Brian never thought he'd see that hacksaw again.

I weep for Ana.

Horrifying.

This is so sad. As the witness is displaying/verifying/identifying the hacksaw, hammer, hatchet he used on Ana, they have evidence paper on the stand. No doubt to collect any of Ana's remains, should they dust off.

I'm physically ill.

That's what's left of his wife.

Chain of custody.

The State is introducing the hacksaw, hammer, and hatchet-- ahead of later testimony which will show whether there's tissue and/or hair of Ana on them.

This is sterile but devastating testimony.

This sounds absolutely gruesome!
I don't know how he actually murdered her or how long it took to dismember and distribute her but it seems it would not be quickly done.
Where were the children during this time?

One of his searches was about hiding a body quietly (I don't recall the exact search terms but I distinctly recall "quietly").

That may be how he decided against power tools.

The children could have been home. Asleep. Watching videos. Purposefully distracted. Or off-site. Maybe with his mom. I'd love to hear how that came about, if it did.

Next witness, an ME

Curious if the State's is getting out ahead of sudden unexplained death or if this ME examined the hacksaw and made determinations.

ME looked at a segment of carpet.

Is this going to be bombshell evidence?

If the debris is biological matter, it could speak to violence in the bedroom.

Tooth enamel or dentin, brain tissue...

Ugh already done for the day!

Underside of carpet is stained...

ME is on the stand….showing photos of the minute pieces of Ana that was retrieved attached to other items. SAD!

Suspenseful note to end on.
