Hmmmm...no drugs/poisons found in her body...
IMO, that means she wasn't poisoned, either on purpose or on accident.
Is there any evidence that she could have been suffocated? Sad to think, I know.
I still have no idea whether she was killed by someone or if her death was accidental.

So then we have absolutely no cause of death? That's frustrating. I mean, I know that won't help find out who she is but I don't know, I just wanted to know.

They are still running more toxicology reports so something may be identified. If nothing comes out of the further toxicology testing, it sort of leaves suffocation doesn't it. It is really hard to wrap one's head around what may have happened and the circumstances around whatever happened. My opinion is that her death was not accidental.

They also mentioned on CNN Live that the authorities are leaning towards 'local' meaning someone knew the area to have placed her body there.

Very baffling that Baby Doe has not been identified yet.

Yup. I mean I am no expert. But no drugs, no signs of drowning, no lacerations etc, no visible signs of strangulation. Kind of leaves suffocation or perhaps starvation/malnurishment? Perhaps she IS older but small because she was not eating. I do feel the person has to have some knowledge of the area.

No obvious cause of death, anyways.
There's got to be SOME sort of evidence to show how she died though....

Wouldn't the ME have noticed signs of malnourishment?
I'm no expert either, but I would think there would be signs she was being starved (ribs showing, sunken eyes, etc).
IMO.

I wouldn't rule out ALL poisons at this point. If bleach and Draino were specifically mentioned, I'm going to assume that means she didn't ingest something caustic (which would probably be easily determined) - if she OD'd on cold medicine or something, I don't think they'd see that immediately.

Would that be as obvious as, say, something done with a weapon? I don't like to be blatantly graphic. But I think you get the gist. If she had started to decompose, would they necessarily be able to tell starvation? Someone mentioned the autopsy revealing what she ate, if anything. Was that info ever released?

Someone on FB suggested Caleigh Harrison. She wasn't found and her mom suspected abduction, right? She would be the right age and in the right area if her mom was right...

Caleigh would be almost 6 and I believe her eyes were blue. While eyes do change color when babies, she was 2 so her eyes would have already changed.

Caleigh has been ruled out. Yes, there was some suspicion that she was abducted (her 4-year-old sister reported seeing a strange man on the beach earlier), but that was later ruled out and all evidence points to it being an accidental drowning in which her body was swept out to sea.

BBM.

So....are we thinking she was put in the plastic bag and then suffocated inside it?

The report on CNN that she was placed in the location seems to indicate she was meant to be found. She wasn't exactly hidden. The body was found soon after the girl died, which I'm guessing was how it was planned by the person who left the bag.

??? What's going on?! Please, someone, come forward with information about this little girl.

Being placed rather than washing up combined with the blanket definitely makes this sound like a parent, likely mother.

I hope guilt catches up with the person and they come forward.

I definitely understand why police believe she's local. Had any of you from outside of Massachusetts ever head of deer island before?

It's not very well known. Locals know about it and it's a beautiful place. but there are so many other places you think of before this one

Professionally I would NOT make that statement at this time just state that no caustic chemicals were present (my investigative "defense" for that statement would be the condition of her GI/Resp. tracts & oral cavity.). Without a doubt, a urine screen for DOAs (drugs of abuse) was run ASAP, however there are many other classifications of 'script or OTC drugs that can kill and these panels take longer to evaluate. Suffocation/asphyxia (manual or by accident) CAN present with petechial hemorrhage in the eye & on the facial skin, no way would any LE/or ME introduce that information to the public!

I gather you're local? Is Deer Island a place that local boaters (either recreational, fishing, cargo, others?) would know about from having passed it?

BBM:

No way IMHO does that scenario fit as the description of both the child and the bag do NOT indicate that frantic struggle to breathe happened.
