The watch is in a very odd condition.

I’m wondering if it was this man? Some of the details don’t quite match (this Doe was thought to be 55-70, and he was wearing a silver medal necklace in addition to his watch), but the timeline is right. If so, he was found drowned in Boston Harbor and initially believed to be one of two men still missing from a January plane crash. I can’t find where this guy was ever identified—I looked up various permutations of body found, body identified, etc. for Boston in 1982 on Newspapers.com, and there were at least half a dozen drownings with bodies to be identified (combo of accidental and suicides, along with the random plane crash victims).

Great find, thank you. Definitely refer to the same man imo. Did you see anything about a John Doe found in Boston in June 1982, by any chance?

I hate when Mass NamUs profiles have this. It's so nonspecific
Mass's NamUs's are insanely blank. It'll be like "recognisable face / age cannot determine / found outdoors"

I didn’t see anything using the terms I used to find the other one (sometimes the condition of the body leads to better results using skeletal, remains, bones/skull, etc.), although there was a body found in nearby Marshfield on June 11. It was heavily decomposed and not immediately able to be identified; I’m not sure if this person was later identified or not.

"we think it's a body / just checked / yeah probably for sure a body"

Do you mind sending me clipping about June's discovery?
