Can an IQ test be faked/failed/low score be done on purpose? And would giving more then on test over a certain time frame show that? Also, who writes down the answers, the specialist or the taker? Thanks

Frankly, to get below 1%, unless he was very obviously mentally impaired, he would have had to have been faking and/or not cooperating. I've tested a lot of people and I've never even met someone who couldn't score in the 25th percentile, even immediately post-stroke.

Depends on what instruments are being used in the evaluation. If you're doing a WAIS, the taker writes down some answers (e.g., a speed task where the person matches numbers to symbols as quickly as possible), the person who's administering the tests records some on a structured worksheet (e.g., forward and backward digit span, knowledge/vocab questions).
