And so it begins...

"Mr. Roy's death is a terrible tragedy, but it is not a reason to stretch the boundaries of our criminal laws or abandon the protections of our constitution,” the ACLU of Massachusetts said in a statement.
The group said that there is no law in the state making it a crime to encourage someone, or even to persuade someone, to commit suicide.

Wouldn't matter...she can still text wherever she is, so she can victimize people...

I realize that, but that would keep her from being out in public and possibly victimizing people also.

I'm praying that the Roy family immediately files a civil claim for millions and millions. She will never escape this for the rest of her life if so. Her wages will forever be garnered and every employer will know.

My sentiments exactly, 'pants. Yes. I especially like the "for the rest of her life" part. Yes. There's no way she will get much of a sentence -- 1st offense and in juvy court?? No way.

ETA: At least she is branded a felon now. That will not go away, either.

Local news reporting from Massachusetts stated HBO (and others) are doing a story/movie on this.

She can not text or communicate with any any of the family or witnesses.

She's a coward. She manipulates behind a glowing screen. Nothing more than a mentally disfigured troll. In person she is nothing. An oxygen thief.

But her mom can do it for her....Judge did not say a thing about other family members.

I hope she has a ankle monitor on....did she before trial? I do not trust her or the family.

I don't remember the exact quote, but the judge did prohibit her from any contact, even via a "third party." Not saying that his instructions are fail safe, but it was my understanding that by doing so she would be in violation of his conditions of remaining free on bond/bail.

Yes there is. Depending on the circumstances- involuntary manslaughter.

Their statement also adds to the earlier discussion on this thread in regard to if there is or is not a MA law against assisting and aiding in someone(s) suicide(s).

The ACLU made this statement, and as discussed earlier in this thread, the defense attorney said/says it repeatedly (I left the CNN link with a verbatim transcript indicating such).

And then there are paid interviews.

Can Conrads parents file a civil law suit?

I know this is a bit off topic, but I really wish as a society we could change our language around suicide. To say "Commit" suicide is very offensive to family and loved ones. The correct terminology should be "died by suicide". Mental illness is not a crime. To say "commit" implies a criminal act. My best friend died by suicide about 8 years ago and when I see the word "commit" it hurts me deeply. She was in pain. She had a very serious health condition that took her life. She was not a criminal in any way.

That is a real good point! I never thought of that. I will always try to make that a point in any conversation and explain why. I am going to print your statement out and put in my wallet so I can explain commit and died by suicide correctly. Thanks EstrellaEspectral. I am very sorry about your friend.

The ending to Michelle's fantasy Glee mimicry script didn't end the way she had hoped. Although there are many who feel sorry for her and feel she should have been found not guilty. And it will be from those "It should be NOT GUILTY" crowd that she will find that "feel sorry for me", "poor little me" attention she, to the point of man slaughter, craves.
