A homicide investigation is underway after a 62-year-old former Boston Children's Museum employee was found dead inside his home in Sharon, Massachusetts, on Thursday.

Sharon police and state police detectives assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney's Office said Friday morning that they are investigating after a relative found Brad Larson, 62, in his Deerfield Road home on Thursday with obvious injuries and contacted authorities. Sharon police and fire responded to the address, and Larson was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made, the district attorney's office said, and investigators are continuing to process the home for potential evidence.

From the article linked above, " the museum said Larson was working with the museum and interacted with visitors using his exhibit component called StoryKiosk."

From that info, I found the victim's website: bradlarson.com - visitor storytelling technology for museums

This is an interesting crime. Police were asking for surveillance video from between 8pm on November 1st and 7am on November 2nd from residents in the Hampton Rd. area: Surveillance video sought in murder of man in Sharon home

The victim lived in a home on Deerfield Rd.: Sharon police ask for help from Hampton Road residents while investigating Brad Larson's death

Hampton Rd. and Deerfield Rd. intersect. So it seems that police are narrowing down both a potential route of the killer and a timeline. They say that based on what they have currently uncovered in their investigation, there is no known risk to the public.

Lucas Larson, 17, of Sharon, will be arraigned on a first-degree murder charge in Norfolk District Court at 2 p.m.

His 62-year-old father, Brad Larson, was found dead in his home on Deerfield Road back on November 2. It's still not clear how he died. At the time, police called it an "apparent homicide" and would only say Larson had an "obvious injury." They were also looking for surveillance video from neighbors hoping to generate leads in the case.

Wow, I was wondering about the outcome of this. Very sad. I wonder if the accused was the same person as the "family member" who allegedly found the victim deceased in his home?

This article says that the teenager has been hospitalized since his father was found dead:

Incredibly sad...
I wonder if the son had access to weapons? We don't know how exactly Brad was killed but a lot of times in these situations a child is suffering from a mental illness and gains access to weapons. IMO

Just to update from the hearing yesterday (there were no cameras in the courtroom because the accused is a minor):

The court called clinical psychologist John Keough to the stand, who said Larson was not competent to be arraigned. Keough has been evaluating Larson over the past few months.

"He did not demonstrate the capacities that, typically, we associate with competency," said Keough. "Mainly an understanding or awareness of what is happening. The process that he's facing in a trial or an ability to communicate effectively or work with his attorney towards a defense."

The judge ordered Larson held without bail and to undergo further treatment at Worcester Recovery Center Adolescent Unit.

And there will be a competency hearing later this month.

On the Sharon Police Department page, where they posted the press release about the arrest, there are some interesting comments from people who say they are friends of the family. See especially comments by A B-H. Sharon, Massachusetts Police Department | Sharon MA
