but then I circle back to why are firefighters asking if children are present in the apartment and what does that have to do with the purpose of their visit, which is rendering aid?
As more comes out here is what I think happened. I think responders arrived at a filthy unsanitary apartment in the projects. They find a bio male in female garb in distress, a bunch of other adult males who may or may not also be in female garb. They see children's toys, clothing, or other items indicating children might be present or reside there or they hear crying. They report concerns about the squalid, possibly overcrowded condition of the apartment.
The rest of the more salacious stuff is simply from people who were not there, have extrapolated what they want to believe about the scene that day and here we are left to try to parse out the truth of what happened from the baloney told by people who weren't there and whose motivations may simply be to be on the six o'clock news.
Seeing kids toys or clothes is a good reason for them to ask if there are kids in the home, for sure. Even more so if they thought they could hear kids crying.
As for your last paragraph as to the "more salacious stuff" who are these people that you suggest were not there and just made stuff up who might be motivated to get on the news?
