Yeah, I was hoping she was ok, but this kind of seals it for me that she's not. She's an adult, for him to get out of a kidnapping charge, all he had to do was produce her, and her say she went willingly. No need to start a shootout with the police.

I wonder if she went with him willingly initially, and then decided she wanted to go home, and he didn't want to let her go.

Ya I agree. JMO ...she wanted to leave. Many people said she was planning on leaving the second she turned 18. She talked about it a lot. And he was grooming her. I think she probably thought he was so cool and tough and bada** but he turned out to be really controlling.
I theorize that after a few days, she wanted to just contact family to say “I’m fine, you can stop worrying” but he wouldn’t allow her to. Cuz they would ask questions and he was wanted. I think that’s what they probably argued about. And he hurt her.

My opinion is that he’s just gotta have buddies who know what happened. He wasn’t staying in hotels or anything. He was totally with friends. Plus. Seems like the kind to gloat. He was probably talking with his bros the whole time if he was actually in a gang. Possibly bragging about how he’s getting laid whenever he wants now. But that’s not much better cuz no one here is gonna tell the cops or family. This might be a situation where someone gets super drunk and accidentally spills the tea years down the line. JMO

Jalajhia is five months pregnant. Within an hour of entering Zaragoza's car, he discarded her phone on the side of the highway.

Yes, it's possible that others have information surrounding her disappearance. If they do LE might be able to get them to talk. I would assume they have interviewed people close to him. Do we know for a fact he was with friends? It sounded like he was alone when police finally caught up to him.

I think it's possible that he acted alone, did not tell anyone, and has been on the run since the day Jalajhea went missing.

Police continue to search for missing Mashpee teen last seen in New Bedford

The district attorney's office said a person wanted in connection to her disappearance, 37-year-old Luis Zaragoza, died in Crestview, Florida, Thursday morning "while U.S. Marshall's were attempting to take him into custody."

"Investigators learned he recently rented from Logan Airport in Boston," noted the district attorney's office in a release Monday.

They said Zaragoza, who's from Florida, also goes by the alias Luis Barbosa.

District Attorney Thomas Quinn said Finklea's cell phone was last used to call the suspect before she got into his car.

"Further investigation determined that Zaragoza turned off his own cell phone minutes after Ms. Finklea got into his rented vehicle," said Quinn.

They learned that Zaragoza left the state and traveled to Florida.

"The suspect then traveled to Texas before driving back to Florida," said Quinn.

Authorities said they found surveillance footage from some of the places Zaragoza had traveled to during the last two weeks. However, they said none of the videos showed Finklea.

Quinn said U.S. Marshals were able to find the man last Wednesday and "began surveilling him."

He said police in Massachusetts obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, charging him with kidnapping and larceny of a motor vehicle.

The district attorney's office said New Bedford detectives went to Florida Thursday morning to arrest the 37-year-old at a McDonald's parking lot in Crestview.

It's unnerving that Jala wasn't found in Florida yet. That fact that her phone was discarded on the side of the road only an hour after she got into the car tells me she most likely didn't even make it out of Mass. With the suspect dead, and this spanning multiple states and so many miles will make the search increasingly hard for LE to find her.

If he killed Laylay in the Massachusets, he dumped her body in Massachusets, or somewhere close. She was reported missing almost immediately, and the news hit the media pretty fast. I don't think Zaragoza would risk travelling far with a body in his car. Laylay might be somewhere in the woods, in a river, lake or sea, but she is not far from New Bedford.
