FALL RIVER – Police continue to seek the public’s help locating a 40-year-old missing and endangered woman who has a history of mental illness.

Janet Marie Jimenez was last seen leaving her home on Tuesday, July 3, about noontime, police said. She suffers from bi-polar disorder and numerous psychiatric issues, police said.

Jimenez is described as approximately 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police said she recently stopped taking her medications and left her purse and phone behind, which was uncharacteristic.

Police recover body of missing Fall River woman

City detectives said they located the body of Janet Marie Jimenez in an "obscure area" near a building several blocks from her home.

It appeared she had been deceased for an extended period of time, according to police.

Police said the medical examiner's office took custody of the body and will perform an autopsy and toxicology tests to determine the cause of her death. At this time, it doesn't appear foul play was a factor, police said, but her death remains under investigation.
