MA - Joseph 'Joey' Brancato, 21, Roslindale, 18 Nov 2017

  • #121
In last night’s news report, channel 5 said Lipka has been dishonorably discharged. In the video at this link...
http://bit.ly/2Go4HO2

In one version of their video, Joey’s mother says Joey told people 3 times that Lipka had threatened him.

Please note that they keep updating the report and video, so what you see currently may or may not match the above.

Good! He doesn't deserve to wear the uniform. On a more somber note, if the medical examiner is unable to determine manner of death and the DA is unable to find enough evidence to charge Lipka in Joseph's murder Lipka's life is still over. A dishonorable discharge from the military is akin to a giant sign over his head that blinks "DO NOT HIRE!!" He may have some friends that still defend him, like that dude back on the first page, but the majority of Marine's will forget he ever existed, he has tarnished the Corps, a crime worse then treason for a Marine.

Absolutely 100% spot on! Dishonorable discharge is worse than a felony to most employers!!
I was just thinking about the ‘friend’ earlier today. (Wondered if it may have been Lipka, himself!) The person disappeared rather quickly & hasn’t come back.

Gah, I'm such a dumb-🤬🤬🤬, I didn't even think that could have been Lipka but I bet you're right, he popped in long enough to leave a message or two then disappeared. I wonder what the Marines discharged him for and if he'll get to keep any part of his pension. Judging by his age, 39, he must've been pretty close to retirement.

My guess, based on his pending charges is ‘conduct unbecoming of an officer’. I very well may be wrong! Just a guess! See article below!

I’d love to hear what this ‘friend’ has to say now! If they come back we’ll know it’s not Lipka otherwise I’m betting it was him!

Conduct unbecoming is a punishment reserved for commissioned officers as opposed to non-commissioned ones so it wouldn't apply to him in this case. As a non-commissioned officer (a high ranking enlisted person), the procedures in terms of punishment differ. He was apparently given a dishonorable discharge which means that he will receive absolutely no pension. His charges were related to a drunken driving incident, assault on 2 Marines, and being AWOL from work. He was reduced in rank and given the boot. He apparently wasn't sentenced to brig time however, probably because Massachusetts has much more serious charges that the state is pursuing (right now he is facing charges for threatening a Domino's delivery driver with a gun). As for that original poster, I thought the same thing as you guys did.

This makes me sick. I pray they are able to figure out how the hell this happened. I'm curious to hear what Lipka has to say about the last time he saw Joey. How does he justify Joey missing? MA had quite a bit of snow, I figured the snow would help preserve any potential evidence and slow the break down of tissue. Do they know if he was placed there after he died? Did he have any belongings with him? Is Lipka's car accessible to authorities?

Why is Frank Lipka allowed to hide behind a door in court?

That article is dated April 24th so that court appearance already happened?

This is a very sad case. I pray the Marine Corps stalls and doesn't provide his passport. It is too risky to let this guy out. He has nothing more to lose at this point-- he's lost everything. He could run or take his own life and nobody would have any answers.

I completely agree. I still think he’ll be released on bail though which is absurd considering his recent behavior outside this case. He is one scary guy.

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if this ends in suicide. This guy’s behavior has cost him everything he’s worked for. His entire identity was being a Marine and now he’s nothing but a disgrace. I hope this family gets the answers that they need and deserve, but it might never happen.
