Brancato's family says he did a lot of training at the Stony Brook Reservation in Roslindale, and they think something could have happened to him there.

Brancato's family says he was training and living with a recruiter, but then he vanished just before Thanksgiving.

According to them, the recruiter claims Brancato left for the holidays.

Police have searched the recruiter's office, which was then closed, and Turtle Pond in Roslindale, where Brancato regularly trained. It's a place his family now hopes to find any sign of him.

Brancato's family said he didn't own a cell phone, but had one his recruiter provided for him.

When he supposedly left for Thanksgiving, they say he didn't take the cell phone with him.

Read up stream from skysoldier for background. Makes perfect sense once you read the post.

Just came looking for this case, after seeing it on the Boston news again. Here’s the part that doesn’t make sense to me...
The family says his training date kept getting pushed back...

She says they knew something was wrong when the recruiter would keep pushing back Brancato's training start date.

https://www.necn.com/news/new-engla...ny-Brook-Reservation-in-Boston-471299034.html

But SkySoldier10SFG said this...

<snipped>

When my friend went to his command and asked them what they could do to help this kid out with a place to stay, their reply was, and I quote verbatim, "Figure it out, because he WILL be ready and he WILL ship on time".

<snipped>

So, if his command was so firm on time, then why did his ‘training start date’ keep getting pushed back?

I do hope the recruiter wasn’t involved in his disappearance, but it doesn’t look good for him atm.

It's certainly possible his date got pushed back if there was any suspicion he would fail a drug test. There are numerous other reasons ship dates can change.

Agree, but don’t you see the conflict in those two statements?

.

We do not have confirmation that his start date was pushed back. Frankly, we have very little confirmed data to work with.

Not really..... What do you mean?

Commander says he WILL be ready and WILL ship on time, but family says date keeps getting pushed back. Those aren’t conflicting statements?

Right. But that’s why it doesn’t make sense to me. We’re hearing conflicting reports on his recruitment. Family is likely basing it on what Brancato told them (which may or may not be truthful). SkySoldier10SFG is probably basing on what recruiter told him/her (which may or may not be truthful). But the stories don’t mesh. Only way to clarify is recruiter/military, and they aren’t talking.

Very conflicting information.....time will tell.

The start date perhaps was being pushed back by the recruiter because he may have been testing positive for drugs. He may have been trying to help him to await a clean test to start him, after that he would have no choice but to stay clean in the service and start living a healthier life style.

My nephew is a young Major in the Marines, he wanted his nephew (my great nephew) to get into the Marines. However he wouldn't stop smoking pot long enough to get a clean drug test. The recruiter was nice enough to give him a few chances, because he knew his Uncle (Semper Fi). His Major Uncle finally said I give up if you really wanted this you would stop smoking pot for 5 minutes and you won't. You had a lot of chances and now I am finished with you.

Recruiters try to help and save these kids and get them on the right track. My nephew that is a career man and a Major now, had spoken to a recruiter a couple times when he was in college. One weekend he got in a bar fight had a front tooth broke was jailed on a Friday and wouldn't go in front of the judge until Monday. He had a lot of time to think in that jail cell. He called his recruiter and said I am ready to go in the Marines. The recruiter came and met him and went in front of the Judge on Monday morning, and said he is joining the Marines and coming with me. My nephew is now a decorated Major. He has been on the cover of Time magazine, interviewed by Oliver North, he was in National Geographic's Leathernecks, has been written up in the New York Times, the list is endless.

My point being that Recruiter turned my nephews life around and my nephew was smart enough to know he was not going in a good direction. Because of that recruiter the Marines made a real man out of him. He has his Master's and he is a Major at 42 years old.

I too am thinking along the same lines as you. Hope he is safe....

I called the marine recruiting office in Roslindale, MA today, hoping to find out if it was back open. No conclusive info.

It went to a voice mail to call a 508 area code number. That is Worcester, MA, about an hour from Roslindale. Another recruiting office is located there.

A Marine recruiter who was last seen with a recruit who went missing in Boston last November has been taken into custody on unrelated charges, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service confirmed.

NCIS says Gunnery Sergeant Frank Lipka is in military custody in Charleston, South Carolina. The agency says Lipka was the only recruiter operating out of the office in Boston's Roslindale neighborhood, where 21-year-old recruit Joseph Brancato was being processed.

Lipka was the last person seen with Brancato in Roslindale on Nov. 18, 2017. Authorities*asked the public for help looking for Brancato*in early December.

The charges against Lipka were not revealed, but NCIS says they are unrelated to the missing person case.

I think possible SkySoldier's prediction has come true (see near top of thread)...... Its NCIS, not civilian.
