I'm actually starting an investigative podcast featuring this case. If anybody has any information they would like to share with me, please email me at [email protected].
Interesting case. I thought about what it meant to go missing after a teenage party. To me, that's the time of quick romantic adventures. In turn, you have to speculate about rejection and frustration.
Also, what does it mean for a 14 year old girl to be walking in a wooded and industrial area at 2am on Friday night/Saturday morning? Obviously, that's going to be dangerous for lurkers and transients.
All my thoughts on the matter suggest that's she was very endangered.
Melanie, at the time of her vanishing, stood at 5'3", weighed 105 lbs, and had distinctive blue eyes and dimples. She would now be 47 years old. Anyone with insights or information about Melanie Jo Melanson's disappearance is urged to contact the Woburn Police Department at 781–933–1212.
Woburn, MA - Over Three Decades of Mystery. Three decades ago, the town of Woburn, Massachusetts was rocked by the mysterious disappearance of a young girl named Melanie Jo Melanson. She was just 14, a teenager with dreams and hopes, excitedly anticipating her 15th birthday that was only days away.
apparently, the police believe one or both of the accused boys did it and have moved her at least once from where she's supposedly buried...however, it seems crazy that two teenagers could keep moving a body or hiding it and go undetected for so long. I also think others at the party know more than they're letting on...
I like the theory that Jimmy's stepdad (the cop) was helping him cover it up. I can't believe teenagers are that smart or lucky. At least for so many years, some other clue must have come up.
Whatever it is
rest in peace.
If her home was a mile away, in looking at an overhead of this area - I'd guess she could had left the party to walk home. If one or both of these boys (or a third person, perhaps a female for all we know) either followed w/o her knowing or even walked with her, her body could be much closer to home than the industrial park. If someone jumped her I'd imagine they'd wait until they were in some type of cover or at least out at of any security lighting.
