SBM. He openly admitted to going after JOK's girl(Karen) behind his back with no remorse or apologies for it. I apparently have a different definition of what a friend is. IMO it proves that he certainly had no loyalty to JOK.

It was mutual. Higgins was driving and lurking around John's home in the hopes of running into Karen, (as attracted people sometimes do) and he did pursue her one day from his car. He was "just driving" down John's road one day and saw Karen in the yard and yelled out to her. She didn't recognize him and told him she was married (I'm paraphrasing). He actively searched her out.
Following that, he pretended to be a good friend of John, coming over to watch sports, and so on, when his real motivation was to get closer to Karen. It was so obvious from the evidence and his testimony.

I believe you can get the gist from this news article. There's a point at which KR apparently adopts the accusatory voice of JOK's mother, which could be construed as mocking, and a point at which she says, "They're all lying", which can certainly be construed as smearing.

KR's shattered tail light pieces are at the scene. Unless all of those pieces were planted, including those found by SERT that Trooper Proctor had absolutely, positively no opportunity to plant, it is KR who is not telling the truth. And willing to smear.

Remember his whereabouts are unknown for an hour around the murder. His claim that he was driving to the PD is a transparent lie.

The commonwealth had ample reason to subpoena his phone which would have given away his real location.

So glad someone else finds his departure time from 34 Fairview and arrival time at Canton PD extremely suspect! I was all over that during 1st trial but eventually let it go since defense did not follow up on it. Very disappointing and hopefully this is explored further in the 2nd trial.

I can’t find the footage right now, but did see it in the most recent Dateline episode on the case. The security footage is from JOK’s home. JOK’s car is in the driveway, and KR clearly bumps him with her back taillight as she leaves. The footage was also shown in the first trial.

It happened the day after John’s death in January 2022, when Karen and her father, William Read, went over to John’s house to see his family. While at the home, Karen asked John’s Brother, Paul O’Keefe, what John looked like when they identified his body.

“‘My brother looked like he went five rounds with Tyson,’” Karen recalled Paul telling her.

“And his mother leans over the kitchen island and says to me, ‘I think he looks like he got hit by a car. He looks like he got hit by a car,’” Karen continued, impersonating Peggy’s accusatory tone. “I’m like, wait a minute, were you both looking at the same body?”

The timing of the seizure of KR's vehicle in Dighton and its return to Canton PD was such that there was no possibility of pieces of KR's tail light finding their way to the alleged crime scene prior to SERT''s search.

That is why, IMO, the first jury was sufficiently focused on the SERT search to request a written SERT report, after the case had been submitted to them.
