Karen Read has been charged with second-degree murder, motor vehicle manslaughter and leaving the scene of a collision in the January 2022 death of her off-duty Boston Police Officer boyfriend John O'Keefe outside a Canton, Mass., home.

She's pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Leading up to his death, the couple of two years reportedly spent the night drinking and bar hopping with friends before Read, 43, dropped O'Keefe, 46, off at the home of a fellow off-duty police officer for an after-party, PEOPLE previously reported.

Prosecutors say as O'Keefe exited the vehicle, Read allegedly proceeded to make a three-point turn during a winter storm, striking her boyfriend in the process before driving off.

After O'Keefe failed to return home hours later, Read allegedly went looking for him, before finding his body in a snowbank outside the home where she allegedly left him.

YB was told to respond to 34 Fairview because Chief Berkowitz called him and told him he 'saw something while driving by' 2/4/22. Wow.

They then did not write a report about that piece of plastic for 18 months.
I remember clearly this info from first trial. When the retired chief retired, there were photos taken. Higgins was there, Alberts were there, seen in the photo. Public. Looked like all men, yukking it up, this was after JOK found of course and all that followed at that time. They were all bonded for one reason or another. Higgins was with B. Albert then at that dinner retirement party, so still buds, no first trial and all that happened with it. IMO>

Is this new information? was it brought out during the 1st trial?

thanks.. you just answered my last question lol

I'd love to be told what the evidence of this is, especially considering the police officer testified today that KR said she didn't see JO go in the house before she left? Is there any evidence so far that places JO inside the Albert's house?

"So far" the lack of actual evidence began the minute LE entered the residence and never asked NA & BA if they could search the house.
imo

This guy was disciplined because of his behaviour in this case. Instead of acting cocky and defiant, he should be showing humility and embarrassment.
That was a 'slap on the hand' then and he knew it, so no worries today for him. Emboldens the corrupt and ones who are only concerned with self preservation and stops there. IMO

Thank you for sharing your experiences and insights. It felt off to me, but I have nothing to compare it to other than what I think someone would do. My husband is a military police officer. Not exactly the same as civilian LE, but he's a trained LEO and first responder. I try to imagine if there was a dead body in our yard and how I would react (I know this was her sister and BIL, not her husband in the house) My first thought would be call 911 AND run to the house to get the closest LEO I know who is right inside the house. I also think it makes total sense to say the person on the lawn is a police officer.

Makes me wonder if she knew he was dead and didn't want them to know it was a LEO or if she had reason to not rush to alert her sister and BIL. Maybe she knew they already knew.

IMO

That was the worst testimony and "performance" of a witness I've ever seen! brennan couldn't do a single damn thing about it either!! He was REEEEEAAL quiet this afternoon. He left him to flop around on the deck like some dying fish!! 🤣🤣🤣

The thing is that this guy is too stupid to realize that he just made himself the laughing stock of law enforcement for years! His last name will become a verb and description for every disastrous witness that ever flames out spectacularly on the stand.

Did you see that girl bukhenik on the stand today?
That dude bukheniked hard after questioning!!
I don't want to bukhenik here your Honor, but I can't answer that question truthfully!
Officer Jones, are you using the bukhenik excuse here and standing behind your statement that you handled this investigation with the utmost honesty and integrity?? Do you REALLY expect us to believe this?

Today’s my websleuths anniversary and I got to watch AJ. So that’s cool.
@LaineyJ: Happy Websleuths Anniversary. We are so happy you are here.
Should we call these occasions Sleuthiversaries? Sorry, my brain is numb after watching today's testimony.

Think about it….JOK’s shirt, etc that was found on the FLOOR of the hospital, placed on butcher paper, and not placed in evidence for 6 days, and in a place that never had an evidence log, is now encumpassed between two pieces of plexiglass…like it’s preserved and sterile. How ridiculous imo

That was so embarrassing how can you get up on the stand and represent LE and act like that, every CW witness is worse than the last, what a gong show moo
So true. I was actually hurting for Bukhenik as I've never seen such floundering other than fish on a hook... He is the best witness the defense has had yet. The prosecutors seem kind of clueless as well because they're actually calling these witnesses.
