MA - Professor Karen Read, 43, charged with murdering police officer boyfriend John O'Keefe by hitting him with car, Canton, 14 Apr 2023 #25 Retrial

Think about it….JOK’s shirt, etc that was found on the FLOOR of the hospital, placed on butcher paper, and not placed in evidence for 6 days, and in a place that never had an evidence log, is now encumpassed between two pieces of plexiglass…like it’s preserved and sterile. How ridiculous imo
Completely contaminated evidence. How can they even use it?

Key evidence in the #KarenRead retrial yesterday included red taillight pieces and John O'Keefe's shoe. Jurors saw the taillight pieces in person and were able to compare them to how they looked in crime scene photos. They also saw O'Keefe's sneaker, which was found by the curb.

Bukhenik stated that JOK could have been hit with such force that he was thrown out of his shoe. Well, when/if the alleged fight occurred, that also could have left him "thrown out of his shoe". I do not believe in ANY way that hitting JOK with the SUV would have broken the taillight. It's not like he was a solid force that would not move. IMO it could not have broken the taillight. On the other hand, the video clearly shows that she backed up into or VERY NEARLY into the other vehicle. If she did indeed hit the vehicle, that would have broken the taillight. I think it is utterly ridiculous to believe that if KR hit JOK, the taillight would have been broken. And then there's her dad stating that he never would have driven the vehicle impaired in such a snowstorm. Let's also not forget that Bukhenik first testified that it appeared JOK had been whacked with a cocktail glass...

Why were they not cut off him or were they ? I watched today but my house was distracting.
2 neighbors visited , an a bed collapsed. The exhibit was crazy.

I am very new to this case; heard about it years ago but never watched the first trial. I started watching second trial, but not consistently.

I did catch most of the testimony with the texts between the couple and it seemed clear to me that this couple seemed to be passive aggressive with one another and both displayed that they really weren't into the other. Maybe a relationship of convenience and familiarity, but to me, they both seemed annoyed. Today, watching the clips from the actual bar experience, their interactions together were minimal -- all about seeking conversations with others, but very little touching between the two. Maybe that's not uncommon for them, who knows. Maybe both are harboring resentment that night because the events earlier were never resolved.

Looking at what little has been shown so far, particularly the broken taillight, KR's rage voicemails, and JOK's deceased body on the lawn of a party KR said she didn't initially remember as the last time she saw John...makes her guilt seem somewhat probable.

And I must add, the middle of the night phone call to her parents (I don't know if that's been presented yet this trial, or if I read it recently). She was severely alarmed by something that happened, even if she couldn't remember exactly what. That's not normal behavior imo, drunk or not. Maybe that's why she only slept 2 hours if at all, because adrenaline was pumping despite the liquor because her mind was in protective mode.

But my Lord, watching the defense's cross toward the end of today. They are doing a fantastic job exposing the inept officials in charge.

So tell me Vinny, how is it even possible for a human arm to break tempered plastic into all those 47 pieces that flew all over the place apparently? That light was obliterated by something way harder and with a lot more resistance than an arm!

Thanks for reminding me why I rarely listen to VP no less post him.

Day 12

Several pieces of red and clear taillight from the defendant’s vehicle were found at the scene near John O’Keefe’s lifeless body.
The drinking glass found in the street
The drinking straw
Nike shoe (consistent w/pedestrian strike) belonging to the defendant’s found at the curb near where his lifeless body was found.
The baseball cap John was wearing was found at the scene.

Notice the grass stain on John’s jeans.

Defense: Jackson shows photo of John O’Keefe’s clothing on the floor. Jackson has Sgt YB point out where the clothing is.

I think the CW is playing with fire with Proctor. People who have nothing to lose can be dangerous.

YB suggesting that Proctor falsified a search warrant is no small accusation. If Proctor was falsifying warrants that’s a federal crime. If Proctor feels like he was sacrificed to protect others, he might not hold back on cross… I think there’s no way he’s not bitter about losing everything while his boss gets away Scot free. MOO.

It occurs to me that if KR's SUV had already had a damaged taillight when she backed out of 1 Meadows and hit John's vehicle around 5:00 a.m., the broken taillight/housing would have left scratches on his vehicle. None were seen as far as I'm aware.

I have only listened to today's testimony, but is it true that the shoe that they found was unlaced?
With the amount unprofessional and undocumented evidence, we will never know if it was really found unlaced but it seems a odd thing to get out of a car with untied laces over distance. But we do know JoK had a strong principle of taking his shoes off when entering a house.
