I haven't been following the case as closely as many of you, and I did not follow the first trial. A friend from that area told me about the case. The friend thought she was not guilty, so I started following it with that in mind. However, I am leaning toward "guilty" for several of the reasons @arielilane listed above. Especially because KR said : "I hit him." Like @mrjitty said, the experts are being paid to testify, so I largely discount that testimony. I believe it was a drunken accident, and she may have convinced herself she didn't hit him. I also don't believe there was a conspiracy by the friends. I think the friends think/know she hit him, and they wanted to make sure that the authorities knew that. I thought Jen McCabe was believable. I say this even though I am disgusted by the drinking culture in that area.

There is also another question I have. I think early in this trial it was testified that KR tried to call her parents at least three times in the hours after she returned to John's house? Has it been testified as to why a 40ish year old woman would call her elderly parents in the wee hours of the night after returning home very drunk after she dropped her boyfriend off at a friend's house? Was she very troubled about something? Maybe she kept thinking, "Did I hit him? I think I may have hit him! Should I go back to see if I hit him? Let me call daddy, he'll tell me what to do!"? Does anyone know anything else about these calls? Or have an opinion as to why she would make them?

Even though I think she's guilty, I am not very invested in the outcome. Certainly, the last three years have been very punishing for her. I think she will get off, or there will be a hung jury.

Are you under the impression that CW witnesses aren't paid? The state paid Aperture 400K+ to say what they wanted them to say. JMO

Basically.. Rentschler is saying what most of us thought about the blue paint test.

It was a terrible.

All JMO
I would’ve loved to have been a fly on the wall when Wolfe’s and Rentschler recieved Whelcher’s report. Can you imagine?

Wow that objection and Judges reaction was intense!! Jackson was NOT backing down even though she tried to shut him up

  • #724
Jackson is ticked... he objected and asked that Brennan be admonished.. very loudly ... sidebar now.

Wow......judge allows Brennan to direct accusations to the witness without even requesting rewording...Brennan is openly hostile and the judge is giving him free leeway.....we never see the same for the defense..so bias as the judge repeatedly "allows it" IMO

Brennan is badgering this witness! Judge Cannone better discipline him for this!!!

BBM - huh? That’s not circular reasoning. It’s basic logic. If there’s no physical evidence of a collision, and multiple medical experts refused to call John’s death a vehicle strike, then it’s entirely reasonable to question whether a collision ever occurred. Circumstantial evidence only matters if it meaningfully supports a theory. If there’s psychical evidence contradicts that theory, it’s not circular reasoning to rely on physical evidence. It’s just weighing the stronger evidence, IMO.

Edit: spellcheck
Not to mention the CW's own witnesses couldn't provide evidence a collision occurred. "We don't know when it happened in the data, if it even happened within the data" 'We don't know where JO was", etc.

@Elliot_Alderson, yes, of course I know they CW experts are paid. I haven't paid much attention to their testimony either.

See what's going on, exactly like I wrote, he can't discredit his findings so he's just going for character assassination, pathetic for Hank moo
100% I don’t think HB is realizing how BAD he’s making himself look right now. It’s really bad!

You can watch this trial - and the last trial - on a variety of YouTube pages. Strongly recommended viewing. I'm partial to Emily D. Baker.

I have a feeling that Dr. Rentschler will take until the end of the day. I have to go adult so will have to play catch up after lunch ( booooooo LOL )

Dun dun dun.....
Will there be an admonishment given by JBC to Brennan for his repeated statements during questioning?

Or......will we continue "allowing it" ?

Stay tuned...
Enjoy your ham sandwich. (Mine is Honey Ham)

his demeanor changes so much between witnesses too, it's very noticeable.

The Judge has let Brennan out of the cage and off the leash....yowser !

Its not attractive nor helpful nor within normal legal procedure imo.

The witness is openly smirking about Hank's whole theater of aburdity - its like an upside world lol

AJ rightfully so not happy -

Side bar turns in to Lunch.

Brennan has really no ammo but to personally discredit this witness and I don't expect the fireworks are over bc the P is beyone desperate - this testimony has been devastating to their case.

But to let Hank go full nutty on this guy will not help

So embarrassing to the CW/ Better get the DA on the bat phone

Very noticeable! Hard to watch even though the Dr is handling Brennan very well. HB is losing his cool though and the Judge better do something about it.
