I would be curious as to how many in the Albert family made reservations today on a flight out of the country…

You wanna bet at least two!?

IMO
They will be protected, they don't need to leave IMO

I also don't believe that anything happened on purpose. I think that it may have been an accident, or the dog attacked and he fell, they paniced and circled the wagon.

JMO but I think it was more about liability because of an aggressive dog and/or it happened on their property.

I’m still trying to process what Brennan did today. He would have looked so much better saying he had no questions for Dr. Renschler than making all the comments he did. His tone is such a turn off and it sounded like he didn’t know what he was talking about so often over the last two days.

Did I hear Dr. Renschler say he knew about the X-rays when he wrote the report? And if so, when? If that’s the case, seeing the X-rays yesterday wasn’t a surprise to the defence.
He knew about and considered the X-rays in the info provided him by the fbi.

But… they covered it up, somebody planted evidence, and they have kept the truth quiet for a long time.

They may have tried to hide all their assets to prevent KR from getting a dime, they’ve forgotten KR is a financial analyst. My guess is she knows people who can find their assets… and when she sues and wins in civil court she is going to get everything they own.

IMO

I'm sure there has been worse but I've never seen a high profile case prosecuted so badly.
The CW only has themselves to blame in having Brennan try this.
Well that, plus the excellent job by the defense (mainly Jackson)

I don't see it taking longer than an hour or two for the jury to find the defendant NOT GUILTY.

The big losers here are the decedent's family. My heart goes out to them as it's clear that much of the Canton P.D. should've been on trial, and not Read. They will likely never see justice for John.

My take/scorecard on the main players:

Prosecutor Brennan was completely out of his league and overmatched. Almost all of his witnesses helped the defense's case, 2/10

Alessi
was great, did everything asked of him, and more. 7/10

Defense lawyer Jackson made a believer out of me. I had my doubts at first but he turned this case on it's head, as my original belief was she was guilty.
That changed to probably guilty but with too much reasonable doubt to convict.
By the time the defense had cross examined most of the prosecution witnesses it was clear there was some sort of cover up of some kind by the Canton P.D. and Read was not the killer. 9/10

Judge Cannone definitely showed a bias in favour of the crown. Not impressed. 3/10

Pathologist Laposata gets my vote as the most honest and believable witness to testify 8/10

Detective Bukhenik was the worst,. The defense should put him on their Christmas card list 2/10

Defendant Read never took the stand. Smart move.
All I can say about her, other than now thinking she is clearly NOT GUILTY, is that my opinion never changed from start to finish. My advice would be to anyone who is thinking about starting a relationship with her is RUN, RUN FAST in the opposite direction.

It's evident you weighed the evidence and found what the prosecution provided was severely lacking. I absolutely agree there is something rotten in the Canton PD and it extends into other agencies of the state as well. Here's hoping for a not guilty vote for KR and a real investigation into who actually murdered JO.

oh wow.. ok.. so read my last comment haha

Is it because of ARCCA and Dr. Laposata?
It started with Dr. Wolf (neurosurgeon) stating the head injury is classic slip and fall. Then Laposata mentioning the X-rays showed no hairline fractures in the hand. And finally Dr. Renschlenter stating that JOK could not have hit his head on the back of the Lexus because his neck would have had catastrophic injuries as well.

Those points tipped me into the innocent category.

We had one incident in each of the trials where the CW did something egregious enough to achieve a catchy '-gate' suffix:

Season 1: MIRRORGATE
Where they presented a security camera video of the Lexus arriving in the Canton PD sallyport garage without disclosing to the jury that the image was reversed.

Season 2: HOODIEGATE
Where Hank asked Dr Wolfe if holes in JO'K's hoodie which were made by the criminalist could have been caused by the ground.

And on both occasions, Judge Beverly was not remotely annoyed with the prosecutors for their possible misconduct, but more annoyed that they got caught and she had to deal with the pesky defense's noise regarding these indiscretions.

I don't think even with a NG vote that any meaningful attempt will be made to investigate those involved.

Brennan's performance today was so detrimental to the CW's case I have to wonder if he was replaced by some kind of bizarro cyborg Brennan intent on torpedoing the CW’s case.
He was positively manic.
Just ridiculously desperate.
He can take a calming vacation with that taxpayer money.
IMO.

Just finished watching on catch up. I thought Rentschler came across as an absolute sleazeball to be honest (and his opening good guy gambit with his birthday shoutout to his kid is one of the real moral low points of this trial).

Nothing has really changed my overall view that this case is destined to be another hung jury though.
BBM
Everytime Honk opened his mouth was a low point in the trial. Any other judge would have admonished him on his unacceptable behavior. I'm certain that the jury can't stand him and they stopped listening and believing in him a long time ago. So the sweet mention of happy birthday from a father to his son when he can't be with him, was a needed breath of fresh air in this trial. Dr. Rentschler schooled Hank so fiercely, that he rested the CWs case. Moo

Any idea what happened to the missing piece?
Karen said in a documentary or interview (I have not watched any of these for myself, so no idea if there is more then this, but this was played in court)

When my car was seized, there was a few small pieces of tail light missing that I had picked out at John’s at quarter of six before we drove over to Fairview. I’m showing to Kerry, look what I just did to my light. And I’m worried that it’s gonna — there’s gonna be some kind of electric short circuit. The bulb is showing and some of the red plastics missing. So I picked pieces out of the light housing that had kind of collapsed within the light and dropped them in John’s driveway

I'm assuming that she must have told someone, or maybe Kerri did about putting pieces in the driveway? Because LE testified they did not find any pieces in his driveway a few days later IIRC.

Barros, the LEO that testified that he only saw a dollar bill piece size missing, pointed out what portion of the tail light he thought was missing. I compared that to what others have been able to piece together of the tail light/the differen pieces/who found what and on what dates. The best I could come up with was... Proctor found them on Feb 11th.

I just went to KR's testimony to see if she talked about the pieces on the ground... I didn't catch this when she testified... she said a square piece was missing in the middle. (from reports early on and earlier testimony I believe?)

Hope that helps :)

Same, I don't think there was ever any intention to kill JOK, but I do think BH wanted a confrontation and JMc wanted a ringside seat.

What a ridiculous pseudoscience test to fool the jury!!
Anyone associated with Welcher should be embarrassed!
- no measurements?
- no sound science?
- no review of the x rays?

How infuriating to do shabby work and charge tax dollars so you can fool them!!
Welcher is done!
How inhumane to create shabby evidence to frame a person for murder!!

Drop the charges!
Heads in Norfolk County should roll!

IMO
Yes @AngTxGal …… and IMO it seems the other question is how long Burgess and Welcher’s CV and ‘credentials’ remain on the Aperture LLC website. With, or without a “Not For Expert Designation” watermark plastered across them. And before or after this trial concludes? IMO maybe someone is waiting for the ‘check to clear’. SMH.

And FWIW Welcher’s downloadable CV still has an apparent incorrect spelling for the email. See attached just retrieved from the Aperture LLC website. SMH. MOO

Yes and that's the messed up part. People are going to get away with perjury, planting evidence, covering up a death, and ruining a innocent woman's life. It's truly disheartening. Imo
