I don’t understand the strategy behind the prosecution wanting the defense to call Proctor to the stand? Seems like the prosecutor wouldn’t want Proctor anywhere near the stand whether he was called by them or the defense….

Because Hank would have far preferred to question Proctor on cross as opposed to direct. Leading questions are allowed on cross but not on direct.

I'm sure he was sad when the defense opted to leave Proctor a mysterious boogyman who did some shady stuff and got fired by the State Police because of it. Something that almost never happens in MA, btw. But Hank wasn't brave enough to call Proctor as one of his witnesses.

Yeah that’s what I took from their comments. Not trying to put words in their mouth but it seemed like there was an angle to that decision that they couldn’t/wouldn’t discuss
They did say when there were topics they were not able to discuss legally, ever, it sounds. Annoyingly. IMO

They said that if the defense had called him, cross examination would have allowed the prosecution to rehabilitate Proctor and to essentially do their closing in the cross. The important thing was to get the texts in without Proctor.
I do remember that part, but that specifically was about how Yanetti navigated the evidence rules and how they argued they shouldn’t be forced to call him, thus allowing Brennan to essentially make his closing via cross.

But when directly asked about why they made the decision to not call Proctor, one of them (sorry I can’t remember) said they can’t discuss that.

They thought it was a GOOD thing as far as the jury could 'see' too, just a boogeyman out there.. Great discussions. IMO

They did touch on that and I thought it was a great point. They pointed out Lally brought on EVERYONE onto the stand but by doing that he also was able to humanize them a bit even if they were awful people and by not calling Higgins or Proctor etc they were able to keep them as a boogeyman

imo
The supporter crowd just kept getting bigger and bigger. Everyday. He probably knew.
I would’ve loved to hop on a plane and go stand outside that courtroom. Just to be part of the experience. Sadly, I had to settle for virtual jury duty while working.

I honestly think Kr's was out preforming P. Diddy in numbers.

BA presents like a rough and tough man, very cold and offensive, and NA looks like she suffers from major depression, afraid to speak and close to tears. MMc looks like an adolescent with his goofy facial expressions. Chris Albert looks and speaks like a dummy. And JMc is still smiling and having a fun old time here like she's enjoying the limelight once again. The lot of them are so bizarre!

Good comments. Poor Nicole - being married to that moron might send anyone into a depression. I cannot begin to imagine. JMO

None of the jurors so far have even mentioned the digital evidence, which is kind of surprising to me.
The Brazilian juror touched on it briefly in the jury foreman article linked on the previous page. (The article may be behind a paywall.) She said that based on the Aperture data, maybe KR “clipped him” but then she goes on and talks about the house and the dog. So it kind of made no sense to me, which was weird b/c I saw a different interview with her and I had a different impression.

The next step is investigating the documented evidence of events such as how an alleged witness who was at the house that night broke their phone in half and disposed of it at a military base when he was told NOT to get rid of his phone because it was going to be requested for investigation.

Another so-called witness changed phones immediately when getting that same news. Both happen to be LE. To me, the blue wall of silence has never been so loud.

One of them had a documented romantic interest in KR, the other got rid of their family pet and their home that has been in the family for generations.

Yet another witness texted their group chat of other supposed witnesses, "If she [KR] takes a plea, she's fine. If she fights, it'll be an episode".

There is so. much. more. evidence against these 'witnesses' than there ever has been against KR.

I say witnesses in quotes because frankly, they sound a whole lot more like persons of interest to me. So I know this is controversial for some reason but maybe... just maybe... we can move on to speaking about the actual evidence here. Start speaking about the people at play in the murder of a cop, a guy who took on raising 2 kids who weren't his own, a guy beloved by many.

We got justice for Karen, thank the Lord. She is so strong and I am incredibly proud of her and the team.

We need justice for John O'Keefe. We must demand justice for John. These people cannot get away with such horrible, egregious, cruel conduct. Period. We, as a society, cannot let people forget about this murder, or write it off as, "Oh yeah, the crazy girlfriend who did it got off in court... sigh..." when that's clearly not what occurred at 34 Fairview during that blizzard. The evidence shows that. KR was found NOT GUILTY beyond a reasonable doubt for so many good reasons.

It is quite obvious John didn't get a skull fracture from hitting his head on the fresh snow.

There is much more to this case than Karen Read. I hope she gets to live her life peacefully now, and I pray the people responsible for this horrible, wicked thing are held accountable, and SOON.

ALL MOO but happy to provide any proof someone wants of things said in court, to a reasonable degree.

This case made me nervous with how many people wanted to jump on the guilty bandwagon without so much as considering science or medicine.
@iusedtofloat great post!

They are soooo good! So happy I remembered to go listen!

Same, I really enjoyed that whole chat, like sitting with family listening to stories of their latest exploits, so fun!

I think maybe he was minimizing coping with his life challenges by using alcohol to self-medicate and to wash his worries away. He seemed to drink a fair amount. Still hungover at 4 or 5pm after drinking the night before on Thursday. Loaded drunk on vacation and falling all over a young woman, where he spent the next day hungover. He drank non-stop at the bars too. This is according to the texts, testimony and videos that we saw. I wonder why he wasn't working Thursday or Friday of that week and it seemed he wasn't working Monday either since he was going to fix Karen's hot water heater. Was he off work for some reason? It's a shame his final night of life was spent drinking IMO.

Who was this person?

I heard her say after watching Judd Welcher, she thought JOK could have been clipped by the SUV, but then with the evidence of the bite wounds and the house, and after ARCCA testified, her theory was that something happened to him in the house. I found that very interesting that she developed her own theory, as we did too. She went from thinking guilty of manslaughter, to knowing Karen was innocent.

It was me ruminating about JOK's life and death after reading the great article written by his ex-gf Tara. If you follow the arrows backwards beside each poster's name, you can see the conversation we were having about it. I feel sad for John that he used so much alcohol to cope.

There's a lot of good and new information in this article with several videos as well.

I might be in love with her.

Ok, that makes much more sense! Thanks for clarifying it for me. That’s not how it was spelled out on the article. I know I missed one video interview with her so I’ll try to go back and watch.

I think the O'Keefe's (Paul and/or Peg) will be offered a good amount of money for sharing their story, possibly an exclusive, which I expect them to be negotiating now. They will have a lot to say and it will be good for them to get a chance to share their sorrow and disappointment. I think they will always believe Karen is guilty of killing their son/brother no matter what. And I think they deserve to be paid well for their story.
