The witnesses maintained she said she hit him, not as a question. The only person who claimed it was a question was Karen. I<modsnip - quoted post was snipped>
And yet there was nothing in any of the police reports. Nothing in the paramedic reports.

As we say at work. "If it ain't recorded in your notes, it didn't happen".

And in this case, it's impossible for me to believe these CW witnesses, even with their new and improved memories, wouldn't have made a contemporary record of a confession from a killer.

Again, no expert RULED OUT being hit by a car. SOme said they did not believe he was, or injuries were not consistent, which is NOT the same as excluding a car hitting him. This is a super super important point which clearly many seem to be confused about.
Taillight has 5mm of polycarbonate, then a gap and then another 3mm, the incident broke the taillight, this requires a large amount of force.
John's arm had no bruises, no broken bones.

For the arm to break the taillight without breaking or bruising could happen, but the laws of physics would have to have decided to cease to have been in operation. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, the force on the taillight must equate to the force on the arm.

So if I bought the house at 34F without knowledge of this crime, then moved in and the looky loos started coming by at all hours? I would find out what work they had done where and have a full investigation of the place. Id pull that cellar apart brick by brick and have it tested. They will find something if that is where JOK was killed.

<modsnip: different case, off topic>

I believe this has the testimony. Cameras weren’t allowed but audio was.

JO niece testimony

I don't recall there being any video or audio of the minor's testimony. Here, Court TV paraphrased Matt Johnson's notes of the teen's testimony and displayed it on the screen. Nonetheless, thanks for the link.

This jury proved it is not necessary to believe in a third party culprit or even in police corruption. Karen Read is innocent because the science proves John was not hit by her Lexus. So glad the jury was astute and knew how to perform their job

Good morning. This is the statement from Special Prosecutor Hank Brennan on the Karen Read verdict:“I am disappointed in the verdict and the fact that we could not achieve justice for John O’Keefe and his family. District Attorney Michael Morrissey appointed me, giving me full discretion to independently assess the case and follow the evidence no matter where it led. After an independent and thorough review of all the evidence, I concluded that the evidence led to one person, and only one person. Neither the closed federal investigation nor my independent review led me to identify any other possible suspect or person responsible for the death of John O’Keefe. The campaign of intimidation and abuse that has been waged, funded, and promoted in public and on social media is the antithesis of justice. If this type of conduct becomes commonplace, it will threaten the integrity of our judicial system, affecting both victims and criminally accused. We cannot condone witness abuse, causing participants to worry for their own safety or that of their families. It is my hope that with the verdict, the witnesses and their families will be left alone. The harassment of these innocent victims and family members is deplorable and should never happen again in a case in this Commonwealth. My heartfelt condolences to the O’Keefe family and faith that over the coming years they will find peace and closure.”Hank Brennan

Juror 11, Paula, has been speaking out the most, she is great! In a podcast last night with TB and Bederow, she was asked about techstream data and timing... she said that Burgess and the info about timing and data... because it was changed mid-trial, she just didn't trust it. (she is a licensed lawyer in Brazil and knew that was not "normal")

She concluded that he went in the house... how? Whiffen's testimony. His phone was going in a westerly direction and then the location data was more unreliable and was a wider area, she said because he was in the house. Even mentioned that we have all had that problem, go in a building and your signal is not as good.

Corruption/cops involved - she agreed with the foreman... if a body was found on her front lawn, they cops would have been banging on her door and wanting to come in. She thinks the Alberts could have slept through all the noise, since they were drinking the night before.. BUT.. she says no way the dog wouldn't have been barking and going nuts. Being from Brazil, she said police corruption is a thing, she said no cop wants other cops poking around their house, she sees the same thing in this case and is more aware of it in the area now (not sure she was before this case)

Her whole interview was about 2 hours long.... she really did sound like 'one of us'. She drew from personal experiences to make common sense conclusions.

She talks a bit about the deliberations, it sounds like they did exactly what a jury is supposed to do, they went through evidence, they went through testimony - witness by witness. Oh and one tidbit she said... the foreman didn't take any notes, but he knew everything, every number, every detail.

It was great to see her reactions as TB and Bederow told her things that she had no clue about, from the 1st trial, and other things they were not allowed in court. AND.. things that happened during the 2nd trial that she had no idea about yet.

If anyone wants to listen to it... you can find it on TB's X or youtube.

IMO, Brennan is 'protecting' the Albert's and McCabes, probably at the direction of Morrissey. This trial was never about Justice for John. This was about covering the families involved. It still is. They want to continue to blame the " blogger" now, for all their self perceived misfortune.

Still making a case for the poor witnesses and all they have had to suffer through. Disgusting.

Oh please..... he did an 'independent review' of what? the same crappy investigation that the MSP submitted? of course there is nothing else there .. BECAUSE THEY DID NOT INVESTIGATE anyone else! All that evidence is gone.. all those first witness statements are now contaminated. The scene was contaminated the minute they left at 8am that morning and decided to not secure it at all. They didn't even check the house!!!!

And even if they went into the house and found JOK's blood at this point, no case could ever survive a 3rd part culprit defense because of the 2 trials against Karen.
As for the witness intimidation... that statute and law also covers jurors, so I sure hope they apply the same rules to the ones that are now harrassing jurors and their families.

All JMO

The irony of this sentence. Still protecting unethical troopers and DAs while talking about justice.

I continue to be disgusted with Brennan. Sore loser.

I think it was a very simple case once you swept aside the nonsense. I mean she literally turned up at the crime scene at 6am and confessed she hit him , multiple times which was heard by multiple independent witnesses. Something which has been laughably brushed aside. What innocent person turns up at the scene of a crime and admits they did it? This is unprecedented.
IMO, You keep rehashing the same old stuff over and over. Many folks have responded to your theories thoughtfully and respectfully, with actual EVIDENCE presented at the trial. I, too, watched A Body in the Snow and came away feeling differently than you do. I enjoy debating and discussing the case, but only within limited parameters, now that the jury has found her only guilty of OUI.

Yep, and they used the Ford Edge to either hide the body being dragged, or to transport it.
And they could have easily had burner phones.

  • #919
one thing she said that confirmed what I was thinking is that the jury constantly was made to feel like things were being kept from them. She alluded to the hiding of the garage door. I did not follow close enough and only saw those photos after verdict but the juror #11 felt something was being kept from the jury and it was.
This would prove, in my opinion, that these jurors didn't do their jobs, if they were considering what wasn't presented to them as evidence. IF in fact that was the case.

I find it disturbing that Brennan doesn't mention the intimidation of the jurors who were just doing their jobs and never signed up to be a part of this circus. Yet, they have been threatened and abused post-trial.

One prominent lawyer and commentator said they should have their citizenship taken away. That's the kind of ridiculous yet alarming rhetoric that's being thrown around by those who are upset at the verdict.

Brennan must know all about this, but simply doesn't care, because he doesn't view them as being on his "side". Nevertheless, it is a prosecutor's duty is to stand up for the integrity of the legal system, including the jury, regardless of how he may personally feel about their decision. In the past I've seen other prosecutors make statements defending not only the jury against scurrilous attacks, but also opposing counsel and even the defendant. But the rules are different in Norfolk County, I guess.
