Seeing a lot of different people saying Shannon Burgess has been let go from Aperture. His page is gone on their website! Quite the body count in the aftermath of this trial. Just shows you how bad it was handled.

I never like to hear about people lose their jobs, but trust is a two way street.

Another cop in the text chain rehomed and Shanon Burgess is no longer on aperture’s website. The fallout from this trial continues.
Police Officers will get cushy jobs and the same or better pay. All optics.

She was driving drunk. She knew that and so did everyone else. I really think if she thought she hit him, that she would’ve taken a plea. I think that’s why she got a lawyer and was headed that way until they got the ARCCA reports and the autopsy photo of his arm.
So it doesn’t surprise me that the house gang thought that too.
True!

IMO they were all drunk (and probably high) and they figured she was, also. They thought they easily gaslight her after JM observed her hysteria the morning they found him. KR did admit she didn’t really remember what happened….
Great point!

Do you think they know the FBI are on to them? What happens to Higgins? Witness protection program or what? I'm so glad I live far away because knowing me, I would be driving by the Mccabes and Alberts houses , and then to Higgins to spy.

Hmm. Seems like he might be worried about someone scarier than tb paying him a visit.

I love KR, but in my opinion she should not be giving interviews. They can get her into trouble with the law. If someone is out to get KR, This could be construed as borderline defamation of a witness.
For it to be defamation it would need to be proved that it wasn’t true… what KR said is a reasonable belief in the circumstances.

I hope that none of the law enforcement people who have lost jobs or been reprimanded or reassigned decide to take out their frustrations on KR privately. I'm thinking they're all probably venting their employment issues with other LEs and it gets rehashed and doubled down on how everything is all KRs fault.

I bet all the culprits are packing cameras and pistols. The paranoia has to be eating them all alive. Mo

Dever didn't even want to admit that there were cameras in the sallyport. The judge had to intervene to get a straight answer out of her.

And those long, painful pauses before she answered any of AJ's questions (but not HB's). If someone was just speaking truthfully, they would reply immediately. You could almost see the cogs turning in her head. She was obviously her trying to answer in the way that her bosses wanted. But she isn't very quick, so it was taking her a while to process how to respond.

I'm not exactly sure what you're suggesting here. She wasn't called because she recanted her testimony after meeting with the BPD commissioner. The defense knew she was lying but it's always a risk to call a hostile witness. It was a strategic decision to not call her in trial one, but they decided to go for it in the second trial.

I have said before that if Dever had simply acted cool and collected on the stand and just testified to exactly what she knew, her testimony would have been a giant zero. She could have said "This is what I told the FBI, but I have since learned that I wasn't there that afternoon, so the memory may have been from a different time/place. I can't explain the discrepancy." Instead her intransigence, bad attitude, and that Psych 101 mumbo-jumbo about false memories played right into the defense's hands.

I think it's telling in a trial filled with so many spectacular moments, Kelly Dever's testimony that she didn't see anything is one of the most memorable. That says a lot about how unbelievable and frankly ridiculous she was on the stand. It's a disgrace for a sworn police officer to act out the way she did.
She seemed apprehensive because of the innuendos and aspersions being thrown at her. She wasn't there, she'd done her double shift and went home BEFORE KR's vehicle was even brought in. Hard to see something that wasn't there. She was mistaken. The FBI believed her. They were in on the whole conspiracy too?

Not getting the entirety of what exactly the okeefe's are suing for from this article, there must be more if they are including the two bars?

The lawsuit alleges that Read “outrageously created a false narrative” and the O’Keefe family has suffered “emotional injuries, severe physical pain, anguish, emotional distress and other harm… caused by defendant Read’s negligence.”

“In the months, weeks, and days leading up to January 29, 2022, JJ (John) and defendant Read’s relationship was deteriorating. During such time, defendant Read picked fights, experienced jealousy, and had delusions of unfaithfulness,” the lawsuit claims.

The lawsuit also names C.F. McCarthy’s and Waterfall Bar & Grill as defendants, the two bars on Washington Street in Canton where O’Keefe and Read were seen drinking hours before his death.

The suit does not state the dollar amount the family is seeking. Instead, it demands, “…costs, compensatory and punitive damages, lost value of next of kin and any other relief this Court deems appropriate.”

So, this article states the Okeefe's are suing due to KR driving intoxicated she RISKED harming JO, not that she actually harmed him while in that state. JO wasn't harmed by KR's driving yet they are suing because he could have been......

The suit isn't only against Read, but also the two bars she was out drinking at on January28, 2022, C.F. McCarthy's and the Waterfall Bar and Grille in Canton.

The O'Keefe family claims that the bars are liable for serving Read alcohol that night. They say Read drove her vehicle in a state of intoxication, risking grave injury or death to John O'Keefe.

That dog won't hunt. The O'Keefes will have to prove Karen killed John with her vehicle and the two bars contributed to the accident by negligently adding to her intoxication level which then lead to the accident. And we already know what the experts - not to mention the criminal jury - had to say about this.

No vehicle strike = no award. Regardless of the DUI finding.

I don't expect much to come of the civil suit. The vast majority of civil cases never make it to trial thanks to dismissals, successful summary judgement motions, and settlements.

The family must know JOK asked Karen earlier in the day to be sure to be his designated driver. He obviously put himself at risk and failed to take responsibility for his own life as a result. MOO
