So, this article states the Okeefe's are suing due to KR driving intoxicated she RISKED harming JO, not that she actually harmed him while in that state. JO wasn't harmed by KR's driving yet they are suing because he could have been......

The suit isn't only against Read, but also the two bars she was out drinking at on January28, 2022, C.F. McCarthy's and the Waterfall Bar and Grille in Canton.

The O'Keefe family claims that the bars are liable for serving Read alcohol that night. They say Read drove her vehicle in a state of intoxication, risking grave injury or death to John O'Keefe.

That's wrong. (The article you cite is poorly written at best, and perhaps horrendously researched.)

The lawsuit itself, at its core, alleges KR killed JOK and fled the scene. The other things alleged (noted in the article) are only peripheral items to try to offer a motive, perhaps.

The civil case will hinge on whether they have evidence and can show PROOF she hit him and killed him. Just like the criminal case. No proof = no case = no money.

Articles like this are just what I came upon. I haven't seen the the actual legal suit papers.......

IF the civil trial moves forward, the other text chains that may come to light could be awfully interesting indeed!!

Brennan was hired in September and I believe his initial contract through November was $75,000.

Then the trial lasted another 10 days after July 8, so it's $641,000 and counting. And of course that's just his fee. Aperture also got $400,000 and who knows what others got.

Obscene. And all the Commonwealth got for their one million plus bucks was a pink Free Karen Read T-shirt.

JOK per Dr Scordie Bello’s report had what they call the “widowmaker”. Almost 86% stenosis in his coronary artery.
See attached.
I think that would have also put him in grave danger if it wasn’t being dealt with.
Wonder if that will be brought up in the civil case.

Life expectancy is always a topic in a wrongful death civil case. He was only 46.

Not that I think the estate will be able to come close to proving he was hit by Read's car. With all the money they spent, the Commonwealth still couldn't find an expert to demonstrate that those injuries were from him being hit as a pedestrian.

But rumor has it Shanon Burgess may have some free time on his hands and may be willing to work for beer money.

How long has this guy been around? John was a BPD cop.. Brian Albert was a BPD cop... he has never heard of Karen Read? Seriously? Someone is lying.. AGAIN!

Everyone and everything surrounding this case is almost incredulous and they think everyone is stupid.

JMO
I suspect the commissioner will regret so blatantly side stepping and poopoo- ing any knowledge of Devers connection to JOK’s trial. His behavior was deceitful and the opposite of leadership.
He had plenty of time to come up with a response and this is the best he can do?
The comments every where are just incredulous. Another bad liar.
Have the politicians become that tone deaf?
Feels like a bit of a free fall happening in Massachusetts.

Not getting the entirety of what exactly the okeefe's are suing for from this article, there must be more if they are including the two bars?

The lawsuit alleges that Read “outrageously created a false narrative” and the O’Keefe family has suffered “emotional injuries, severe physical pain, anguish, emotional distress and other harm… caused by defendant Read’s negligence.”

“In the months, weeks, and days leading up to January 29, 2022, JJ (John) and defendant Read’s relationship was deteriorating. During such time, defendant Read picked fights, experienced jealousy, and had delusions of unfaithfulness,” the lawsuit claims.

The lawsuit also names C.F. McCarthy’s and Waterfall Bar & Grill as defendants, the two bars on Washington Street in Canton where O’Keefe and Read were seen drinking hours before his death.

The suit does not state the dollar amount the family is seeking. Instead, it demands, “…costs, compensatory and punitive damages, lost value of next of kin and any other relief this Court deems appropriate.”

Very impressive attorney, very.
There's a recent interview he did with Larry Foreman YT that's well worth the listen.

"Damon Seligson, Charles Waters, and Aaron D. Rosenberg, all with the Boston-based firm Sheehan Phinney, joined Read’s defense team last week to represent her in the lawsuit, MassLive reported. They join lawyers, including William Keville Jr., who have already represented her in the civil case."

Cox is saying that Devers lied when she testified that he called her to his office and told her to “do the right thing".

imo

Somebody seriously needs to check the water supply in those police stations. It's making all of them tell lies. Lol. I wonder if they go to church? My Granny used to say all them liars sit in the first pew. Moo

Did I miss it when the reporter asked Cox if what he's saying is he never called Dever to his office and told her to "do the right thing"?
I heard him say that he never said those words together. lol

Oh, he's not happy with her at all. But I guess he figures throwing her under the bus is the easiest route because she came across as a non-believable nut case at trial, but it's clearly stupid of him to pull a Sargent Schultz and pretend he's never even heard of the Karen Read case. "I know nothing. NOTHING!"

Cox said he didn't even know "this person" was associated with Karen Read.

Betcha Devers thought she was so special and all the big boys had her back. lol
