The daughter said on Thursday the 8th the mechanic called SC because he needed to order more parts. When SC didn't answer her landline, the mechanic then called the daughter and said she didn't answer and I need to order more parts. The daughter was at the beach with her sons for the day. You mean she thought something was wrong but didn't stop by her mother's on her way home to check on her ? Usually that " something's wrong" feeling nags at you until your pretty certain everything's okay. At least that's the way it works most often. SC seems to have invested most of her life taking care of others. Then moves to a new location which could have been the start of a new chapter in her life and 3 months later she just vanishes. Tragic.

@MimosaMornings The homes are in neighboring towns but are about 7 minutes apart.

According to her interview in the podcast, LM did try calling on Friday morning before heading over there earlier than usual.

She said that Sandra did not have any relationship with neighbors beyond maybe a wave hello type of thing.

You got it MimosaMornings, very strange indeed. No cell phone in this day and age ? A Trackphone with minutes for safety reasons is what ? A $40.00 investment. To make a call like "Hey, my car broke down, can you pick me up. "The police have no leads. Once they figure out motive (if they ever do) then the means and opportunity might fall into place.

The lack of a cell phone I find very significant. My mother (older than Sandra and a professed Luddite) has a flip phone that is rarely used but she has it for safety when she's out and about. If my mother was the primary caregiver for my young children, I would insist upon a cell phone being on hand in case of emergency. It would really be non-negotiable. I would pay for it if credit etc prevented my mother from getting a contract. So there must have been a stronger overriding reason than the safety of the grandkids not to have one. What could that have been? I have my thoughts about it.

Family dynamics are such complex things, we really have little idea of how Sandra fits into her family, does she have a favorite child? Was she her fathers favorite? Is she the pushover? An outcast? Someone seen as the one is in the family that always needs guidance or help? Laina has her family including a husband and they seem to be quite involved with Sandras finances and that no doubt affects their family dynamics, I just can't imagine what they are going through and I hope they get answers soon.

It's true, we don't know the dynamics of this family or where SC fits in. It seems to me that SC is reliable, responsible and dependable. Raising a family of her own, then running a household with an aging parent while caring for grandsons several days a week and a dog to boot. LM (her daughter) said "bad things happen to good people" which tells me that she wants everyone to know her mother is a good person.

Yes, it's important to remember we "know" only what we've been told. We can form ideas based on the circumstances but other than that we are hearing a narrative. For me, after following so many cases on here, I question everything.

Hey Dotrat, What makes you think Laina and her husband are heavily involved in SC's finances ?

The only reason I can think of outside of paranoia about cell phone tracking is you may not want to be available for anyone at all for any old reason ?

Seems most of us have been conditioned to carry one. You hear them ringing wherever you are, supermarket, doctors, work etc. It's a handy thing to have when traveling. Some people got rid of landlìnes and just have cell.

Everything I have seen on MSM is just her daughter - was Sandra estranged from the entire rest of her family?
An amicable divorce - did her ex husband attend the vigils? Sandra was the mother of his children, maybe after the divorce he had no further contact with her and it wasn’t as amicable as Laina remembers it. Wonder if she has a relationship with her dad. Doesn’t sound like she did with either one, comments like “I put myself through school (nursing/university) “she starting coming around after the grandchildren were born” etc.
Why the need to plead and beg to help find her - but control the entire narrative and suppress information?

I have owned a cell phone for years. The last 20 years with various employers, it was mandatory for me to have a work cell phone. At times I had a work and personal cell phone.

Being in a caregiver role for her father and her grandchildren - not having one is odd in my opinion.

Not having a computer or tablet either. How do you function without having one of those? We have to log on to get our medical records, check our appointments, reorder drugs - not to mention bank/finances.

Sandra was too young for SS benefits and “crickets” on any employment - was watching her grandchildren 3 days a week paying all her bills?
Was the house in her name?

It takes courage and focus to give live interviews while keeping your composure. Very often it is one family member who takes the lead and keeps a case in the forefront.

Additionally, there is no age limit to qualify for Social Security Disability.

That Thursday when the phone call from mechanic went unanswered and several from LM went unanswered which was enough to cause LM to be worried or think something is wrong, I think of that as women's intuition. Some women acknowledge and trust it and some women don't. JMO

In an upthread someone asked if SC's home had a basement. I don't think that question was answered. Also in an upthread there was a link or pic of SC's home. I noticed two small windows in the foundation. If there is no basement, is there a crawlspace ?

According to Zillow's listing for the house it has a raised foundation with either a partial basement or a crawlspace.

LM said that both the cellar/whatever you want to call the crawlspace and the septic tank on the property were searched.
