The skybox photo was taken on the 8th and you can't see how far the cars go. When my wife drove by on the 9th she said the police were around 80 brookstation others have speculated around 63 brooks station. I think this is the area they are focused on.

Ok so it just seems they searched the whole road. Maybe looking for her clothes etc. Anything is possible. No stone left unturned.

OT but do any of you senior members know if there is a schedule of some sort for mods? I just have a question but surely they don't work 7 days a week, do they? I can easily email it but don't know who to direct it to.

OT: they did? No arrests yet, so I'm confused.

Yes, they did. It was the trainer she worked with (AT & his wife CT). It was early on in the investigation. He (AT) even posted about it on his FB page.

Pretty sure several Mods are always on hand here.

When I was in Princeton last night for the run one thing I noticed that kind of surprised me...was just how long and open the cart path (Connors lane) actually is....you can see a far distance down that path from the road. Basically you can see much deeper and clearer into the woods then memory had served....and you would definetly see a car (if you were looking for it) even if it was parked in a bit.

So perhaps this is where she was initially taken or killed and then she was dumped where she was found? This would make sense if she was heading from her mother's home up Brooks Station, attacked at this spot, and then dumped a little further up the road. Or could it mean that she was attacked and killed where she was found, and the killer just dumped some of her things in this other spot? Argh. So much more information is needed :(

Thanks everyone for looking closely at the skybox photo! I like to think of WS as a brainstorming session. It may not initially lead anywhere but it can take new direction or become more important at another time. Trying to understand and USE FACTS that we DO have available, imo is what we CAN build on.

thinking out loud..
I am very curious as to whether she was nabbed immediately or at the end of her jog...or somewhere in between and dumped.
It is so close to aunts home that where she was found is unusual to me. If the perp is a local why not take her further away? Did the perp not have that transportation?
Or, is the perp not local enough and known to Vanessa to know her aunts home was right there!

Also, I am reminded of how the local LE is also WARNING the community to be aware, vigilant, careful. (For newbies...to me this kinda says, that LE is not sure if it is a local or something more sinister.) LE often times not only doesn't warn the community but flat out says, " your safe, go about your business, we don't need your help, we have a good idea that this is someone known and close to the victim"....So y'all be safe!

I read a piece of speculation somewhere in an article posted here that perhaps they hadn't tested the DNA of a POI but a suspicious relative came forward with a tip and offered their DNA to see if their relative might be a match and that possibly that was WCBV's POI..which is why WCBV refused to back off their claim and LE refused to acknowledge it.

That is a very good observation. My father had lots of land with a "cart path" type of lane that lead to a clearing and it was always pretty shocking to see a car or truck parked back in there from the main road. So from the photos provided of the cart path, I sure wonder how someone would have parked there for any amount of time unseen. I hope LE has tips and is able to solve this very quickly!

Do you remember in the last thread where someone local said their mother had gone to a funeral right down Brook Station rd the day Vanessa was found? I wanted to go back and read that post because for some reason I remember them "walking" down it.
jmo. thanks

Thanks for sharing that. I'm very surprised- my memory of this road is that there are blind spots.

Could very well be! I had that thought as well.....if not good reason with a warrant then perhaps "familial DNA"

No she didn't go to a funeral on Brooks Station Road, she went to a funeral in the town center....they didn't say what church but I'm guess Prince of Peace. It's possible that the funeral procession could have gone down it though, if the burial plot was in Rutland. Or the posters mother was driving home from the funeral and drove down BSR on her way home.

Please report this to the tip line. I would not trust my hunch relative to this piece of information. It could prove to be very valuable. This would seem to me to be way too much of a coincidence.

Sorry first post and trying to make this work correctly. I was referring to the post regarding the individual living in Queens that is a family member of the land owner where VM was found.

It does seem like a bit of an insane coincidence.....what are the chances that a girl is killed in queens and Princeton and the body in Princeton is found on land owned by a peers family and the peer lives in Queens.

I mean maybe it's just a coincidence but it's kind of a crazy one.....especially since most young adults who move to NY aren't very likely to live in Queens. (More likely if they are male then female though). We grow up relatively sheltered here so most people aren't going to live in rougher areas of NY if they move there.

That said I do know two local boys (besides this kid) who do live in queens and another guy who lives in a shady part of Brooklyn, so of course there are exceptions.

Welcome BTW.

Also of your wondering how people get the post they are talking about to appear on their reply you click the "reply with quote" tab instead of the "reply" tab.

No need to apologize!

One of my early thoughts in this case has sadly and frighteningly....always been that this was a local....but I'm not sure if I'm convinced it was an intentional homocide or something that went really wrong and someone tried to cover it up.

I feel like it's possible that Vanessa knew the person and was even friends or friendly with this person, and perhaps she intended to meet up with this person to talk. But perhaps things got ugly.

If it was someone who lived nearby she could have walked to their house, or perhaps they picked her up in a car....and later dumped her at that spot so it would look like she got grabbed by a stranger while running....keeping the police on that road in the search....instead of to wherever she may have actually been murdered and there would be even more evidence.

For Black Labs and Mountain Man....do you know if kids ever use that cart path at night to park or smoke, like they use the spots along reservoir and river?
