Took a couple closeup pics with my iphone of the video. You can see the very interesting burn marks. Sorry the 2nd pic isn't perfect.

Notice in the picture with the hand, the strange burn mark pattern, and the lack of burns below the dark burned area. The tree to the right in the picture is also burned.

I see what you're saying, a blow torch. Which could also be carried in a backpack.

Looking at this still frame shot, the tree going straight up between the "T" and "P" is the burned tree in my last post. The tree at angle that is between the "M" and the "U" is the burned tree to the right in the picture with the hand. I dont see any burn marks below those trees. The area to the right of those trees that is dark on the ground looks singed, and supposedly is the area where investigators dug up the dirt.

I cannot say for sure but i believe the trail system to be extensive, connecting the cemetery to the visible trails near the electric light department. Most of the cemeteries that I know of around here have trail systems near them.

I have a feeling that she was very comfortable with the trail system and used it for trail running. She had to be familiar with the trail as she passed it many times before.

I'm not so sure a vehicle was used as a road flare would cause the type of burn to the tree in the photo and the ground. Also many backpackers carry a road flare in their pack in case of emergency.

I keep remembering what DA Early said in the first presser: [quote:]

“We have a horrible set of facts, a horrible circumstance here right now,” Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr said.

I suspect it is possible that the killer posed Vanessa's body, arranged her body sitting on the ground leaning her back up against the tree trunk, then used some kind of flamethrower against her face, and eventually her hands and feet.
And if this is the case I do pray to that it was post mortem.

I didn't think of that. Good point about the road flare.

Something like this, or the aerosol concept seems much more plausable than wood or other accelerant- considering these images. Could someone please share that investigative video link?

Upside down cross? and inverted pyramid?

I think that might be caused by the bad video still and movement across the frames causing distortion as the video camera was panning. I don't see that in the first picture.

That is what the male reporter stated in the video I posted with the screen grab. I was only going by what he stated.
I had better go watch that video again! I feel like I've missed half of it! This case pains me... I called my daughter today and told her to be careful jogging. It's a good thing she's patient with me..

Very possible.

Well, I think the best advice is to encourage them to go running in groups.

Yeah I think we will be shocked when they release the cause of death and events that day. :(
Sounds like torture may have been involved. Not that I am minimizing possible rape, sexual assault and ultimately murder in anyway.

Unfortunately, the audio did not work on my video of the PI'S search of the area where VM was found. Why did he say the perp obviously left in a hurry. How did he know that?

Let's say a blo torch was used. What professions use those?
Plumbers, mechanics......

And if the perp had been driving a truck, chances are he had his equipment in the backbed of the truck in those silver boxes.

Maybe he backed the truck into the space, waited for VM to run by, grabbed her and hauled her back behind the truck where he had his tools available.

After he was finished, he may have driven straight out of the murder sight with no one the wiser.

He goes home, parks his truck and that's it. But, he must have left semen?!

Just theorizing. But I am interested in knowing why the PI said the perp obviously left quickly.

I was guessing that they think the perp left in a hurry because he left one of her shoes behind.
