Dermablend (makeup) could effectively cover bruises/scratches as well. They would not be detected unless there was a close scrutiny/examination.

Maybe someone knows someone who has gone missing ?

This is a heinous, horrific crime. Could these vicious acts have been a crime of opportunity against this avid runner who was known to run every other Sunday in Princeton? The fire takes the brutal crime to a level of evilness psychopaths know well. The killer left his sig and a shoe. He burned her feet knowing she'd never run again. He burned her hands knowing she'd never touch anything again. He burned her hair and head to erase her unique beauty. Investigators believe VMs murder was committed by someone local, I suppose, since they didn't send a detective to NYC. LEO has her phone for they obtained the killer's DNA from it.

VMs murder ripped Peace from the Princeton Community. Prayers are for an arrest, justice and restoration.

Princeton is very remote. It would pose many challenges for someone to have stalked her from NYC. Given the location of the crime it points to someone who is familiar with and comfortable in the area, rather then to someone from outside the area.

I don't get that impression. I think this was a peer who met up with her for innocent reasons, snapped, and scrambled to cover his tracks, "disappearing" from the area just after the crime in an attempt to avoid bringing shame to his family.

I don't get deranged psychopath out for a Sunday drive who happens upon an unlikely and vulnerable victim though.

Btw her cause of death has never been confirmed. The above video is very old.

This being said to be such a remote area and if the reports are accurate and this person IS likely to be a local there must be something known. I am aware approx. 1,000 tips came in and that is a lot to go through to study in this investigation. There could still be someone knowing something even more significant. People in direct contact with this person must come forward with whatever they 'may' know.

In my opinion, a peer she had a history with or in communication with or meeting with and/or friends/family possibly knowing about would be much easier to prove.

It is. I believe the investigators working on this crime are damn smart and are exploring all avenues. Keep the faith. :)

RSBM, BBM;
Can you direct me to where it was reported that LE obtained DNA from Vanessa's phone? And more specifically, how did they determine from the phone that the attacker had scratches, cuts and bruises?

Thanks so much!

It has never been reported if Vanessa's phone was recovered. Karina Vetrano's phone was found with DNA on it.

That excerpt does raise a question that's been on my mind though. Whether or not there's a link between the women, Vanessa's place in NY would have to be part of any investigation, among other NY-based paths of inquiry. How is that usually handled?

JEF is correct. The status of VMs cell phone is unknown. I apologize for the error in mixing the two jogging murders, VMs and KVs.

I don't recall mentioning the scratches, cuts and bruises. LEO stated they suspect the perp to have suffered scratches, cuts and bruises due to the apparent struggle that ensued when VM fought with her attacker.

As the Mayor- I believe he is in the Youtube video you entered says: Someone knows something.

How can anyone with a conscience , not come forward with pertinent information? If there are people holding back direct information about the perpetrator, they should be held accountable.

I completely agree.

' And thank you all for the information on the phone.

This was extremely brazen crime indicating an escalated individual who must be stopped. This does not appear inexperienced or 'that' disorganized or it would be solved.

But, I agree with JEF , Law Enforcement are smart in their handling of this and it will be.

He could have known of her or even met her, been associated somehow but not close enough with communications to be traced easily to her. Or maybe not at all, other than seeing her in his area. There are no reports of her having any problems with anyone, so hard to say.

I agree. Knowing OF her is quite different than knowing her. I am still in a mode of SM groups where runners share their routes and experiences. I have no idea if LE has looked at that SM activity, I assume they have. They are smarter than I.

But I do know from other cases that runners often belong to online groups and such.
I will hold on to the plausibility that this killer was familiar with the perp in Karina's murder and that they have belonged to the same circle of SM acquaintances. I still do not think they are the same person.

I would like to ask - we have runners in this forum - are there social media groups, private pages, etc that runners belong to? I mean aside from the apps like MapMyRun, etc.
Chat's forums, etc?

Thanks for anyone who can answer.

MOO
