This is the pic taken of Zac the night he went missing. I am not seeing the suicide angle at all. I see a happy guy who looks like he's having a great night out with the family!

Whats everyone think of this picture?

is he on his phone? Hard for me to tell but would appear odds are he is.
im now thinking no to the whole suicide thing. why wait those four minutes in the damn cold if you are just looking to end everything?
is he on the phone with someone that is picking him up--whose car is right in front of boston public market to where he's walking? Of course the phone records would reveal those clues.
Does anyone recall when the cousin said she called him and it went to voicemail?
So Zachary took a train to the bar to meet his cousins. How was he getting home at 2 AM? Do trains run at 2 AM back to Harvard? Maybe he decided to call it a night and go home? If that is me outside in 10 degrees, I am looking for the nearest taxi or Uber. I know he was with a group, but he is leaving soon any way and cold. Maybe he was focused on getting out of there, instead of meetng up with his cousins, once he determined, rightly or wrongly, that he could not get back inside.
It looks like he's on the phone. He looks like he's uncomfortably cold. He's hunched over. Wish we had the moving video, but from pic he doesn't seem to have a loose "drunk" gait. I think he was moving up and down block to stay warm while waiting for his cousins. How fast could hypothermia start to affect his thought processes? I do believe he tried to re enter bar through wrong door, or bar cleverly only released video of front door and maybe an incident of no re entry was recorded at alternate door. Is LE smart enough to ask for all of the exit videos?Whats everyone think of this picture?

You have to stop thinking of wide streets with square angles and open views where a camera monitoring the back loading dock, for instance, also shows who is walking by on the other side. That's just not how Boston is laid out. It's a maze, and even people who are quite familiar with it will take a wrong turn and find themselves in a place they didn't know existed.
So here are some pictures I found on the web. I think they're all public. If you click on them, you can enlarge them.
This is the back of the Bell in Hand looking toward the Union Oyster House, with several other taverns, pubs, and restaurants in the picture.

This is another side street looking toward the Union Oyster House (the biggest landmark). The street from Picture 1 is in the background. Notice the car pulling out from an angle and how similar the two streets are.

This is the holocaust memorial, with the Union Oyster House and pub row in the background, and the Public Market building just visible on the left. The Rose Kennedy Memorial Greenway and, um, I think it's Congress Street, is behind the camera.

This is the Boston Public Market. The trees on the right are the end of the Holocaust Memorial. The brick building with the letters on the roof ridge are about where the pubs are located, but I'm not sure which building. Probably the Union Oyster House.

I found this map of the area on a site about the Big Brother TV show. Apparently the Bell in Hand was featured in season 13. Notice in the inset picture you can see the Public Market building in the background. Notice also that the Bell in Hand's building is an odd shape, with a sharply rounded end that fits into a more or less triangular street corner. The pub has entrances on both sides and possibly in the back. If there's a camera on the back door of the Union Oyster House, it would not have a view past that corner.

Snip
Amanda Marr said she picked up Zachary from North Station at 6 p.m. on Friday and the two drove back to her apartment in South Boston where she prepared dinner for him: chicken, chips, guacamole, and hummus.
She said they had a drink before leaving to go to the Bell in Hand about 10 p.m. She said Zachary Marr stepped out to smoke a cigarette several times.
At 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Zachary sent Amanda a text that he was going out for a smoke, she said. About five minutes later, she said, he sent her a Snapchat saying that bar staff was not letting him back in.
During a brief text exchange Zachary told her he was “Out front.” At 1:50 a.m. Amanda Marr and the rest of the group made their way outside, but Zachary Marr was nowhere to be found, she said.
“I was trying to stay calm,” she said. “Maybe he went for a walk.”
Another cousin searched around the corner and found no sign of him.
Amanda said she figured Zachary might have spotted a friend or met a woman, but she thought she’d hear from him later that day.
By 10 a.m. on Saturday there was still no word from her cousin. She said she contacted police and took to canvassing the area where she got surveillance videos that place Zachary Marr in front of the Boston Public Market near the bar at 1:40 a.m.

Thank you for these! The streets do look a little confusing and certainly would be if you're a little tipsy and unfamiliar with the area. I've never lookst at Boston, but now it is on my vacation radar. Very cool and rich with American history.
I tend to believe that this account of what happened is true and accurate and it's dated Feb. 15th when everything was fresh. When I went to the link to reread the entire article the story has now changed. I wonder why?
Anyway, this is what I think.
Zach went outside for a quick smoke at 1:30 and 5 mins. later tried to get back in and could not.
I think he was so cold that he went across the street looking for shelter and could also watch the door at the bar.
I think he then sent that Snapchat to let his cousins know that the staff would not let him back in. Then a few messages go back and forth at apx. 1:35 to 1:41 a.m.
By the time they got their coats from the coatcheck it was apx. 1:50 a.m.
They went outside and could not find Zach. So in 9 mins. he disappeared.
He's not from that area so I doubt he would stray too far. He's watching and waiting for his cousins to come out of the bar.
Also, it looks like they didn't call the police until 10:00 a.m.
I think the video shows he left at 1:20 to go out for a call/smoke.
And I'm going to take a pass on the statement that he tried to get back in but wasn't allowed. I don't know why that belief won't die.
Greetings JeannaT, I guess it won't die because of the Snapchat as reported by Zachs cousin Amanda. Are you saying that it is not true?

well let's be honest. do you think the bar would say that one of their bouncers kicked him out and wouldn't let him in? there was allready a similar story in boston where a young kid was denied re-entry and the bar was sued after he ended up in the water. if you owned a bar, wouldn't you try to make it seem like Zach was disoriented as opposed to the bouncer just being a jerk and not allowing him re-entry? As i noted before Bell in Hand has a little bit of a bad rap regarding its bouncers---plus there are a few entries to the bar. Zach may have tried to re-enter where there was no camera potentially.I may be wrong in the final end, but the Bell in Hand posted on their facebook page a very gracious and warm posting that expressed sympathy for the family, and for Zach, but said they checked their video surveillance (and provided it to LE and the family) and it shows Zach didn't attempt to reenter. They state that other customers came and went during the time Zach was outside. The family then thanked them for all their help and support.
It seems the family believes there was some sort of confusion, that Zach either made up that he couldn't come back in, or maybe he tried to go in some other place besides the bar.
So my mind wanders...We only have the cousins word that they never caught up with him right? Did they have a car? What if illegal drugs WERE involved for all if them? He goes outside. Maybe they come out ten, 20 minutes later and he overdosed in car waiting for them? I font really think this happened but all we have is what the cousins say.
