At this rate I'm dreading the inevitable final news story on this case but am mostly worried about his family going forward. The cousins are going to need a lot of support to effectively deal with this or it could haunt them forever. They need to really understand that this is not their fault but guilt can weigh so heavily that this will be quite a burden. Amanda strikes me as a bright young lady and I pray that she does not let this crush her.

Yeah, I keep thinking about that too. And if mom and dad are still married, who's side are the cousins part of and how will this affect mom and dad's relationship? My heart breaks for them.

I also have been worried about his family. A life changing experience with far reaching consequences. Horrible for anyone that knows him. We're complete strangers and are upset. Dreading the news story where they find him.

On the snapchat story note, I had a Snapchat account but deleted it. I'm old. None of my friends were on it so I never could really figure out how to work it because I couldn't view anything on it. I also am a saver, so the concept doesn't really appeal to me. I could see when I was a teenager or college kid though I would have loved it.

Dang that's so true! I'm having trouble sleeping, I feel just like I am waiting and worrying over one of my own childen!

I too, am so dreading the day they find him, and the grief too follow... yet I can't stand to think of him lying where he fell, in the freezing... uhhggg!

Snapchat... yeah, can see the apeal to the young people.

My son's are all in there 20's (Eldest is 36!), but they are not into social media hardly at all. They don't snap, don't have instagram accounts, ( not an iPhone among them), barely use facebook, cept to keep in touch with family & friends, (certainly not daily!).

But they don't party much, not into clubs, and have the same friends they had in primary school.

So maybe it's a club type thing? I dunno...

They use Skype, IM, text, and they have home built amazing gaming systems for their beloved MPRG's!

My Lil girl on the other hand, is scarily superior to anyone of us where social media platforms are concerned. ( I pretend, to her, to know more than I do, but I am, aparently, not smarter than a fifth grader!)

The wait... Is torment.
As much I dread the announcement that he has been found, the fact that family and LE are confident that he is in the water...I just want this awful wait to be over for the family.

Hi guys

Its weird. Ok time for me to see what my fellow sluethers are up to. I noticed this has happened the last couple of days. Booting up, but there is like dread and anxiety, its like ugh oh , what has happened - is he found. Are they gonna play us?

Hey, I am in the suicide place - BUT there is a haunting. We slueth. If on this thread and story, we all found the like 10 cases we have but they are in 8 different states - thats us being what we are good at. Checking stuff out and sharing, what we discover.

But it is like tell myself sometimes, oh come on 10 in BOSTON, what they serve amazing cocktails in Boston or what!!

Stuff just does not "feel" right.

Hi mom!

I don't understand all of the talk of lawsuits here. Absent special circumstances, a RR doesn't have an obligation to make its tracks safe for walking since they aren't meant to be walked on.

I also don't understand all the talk of mysterious conspiracies. This seems totally obvious to me. He texted his cousin that he was stuck outside. The cousin waited a bit to come. He was cold and so the few minutes felt like forever, so he took off. He walked towards the train station, which is perfectly logical. There used to be trains until 2 am; maybe he didn't realize those had stopped, maybe he didn't have any idea of when trains ran or maybe he thought he could wait at the station. He was either en route or made a wrong turn getting there (folks seem to differ on whether the bridge is directly on route) and may have walked on the tracks knowing they would have to lead to the station and having no other way to get directions.

Edited to correct an error.

thats funny --the way you wrote it sounds totally perfect! Easy no mystery here. It was written neat!

And what the heck happened in the Bell & Hand that would cause him to leave his party/relatives and want to go to the train and go home to Leominster (if that was what he was even trying to do)? I assume someone interviewed his party/relatives and asked if that was the plan - for him to try and get back home that Friday night? Can't believe a 22 year old partying with cousins or whomever, would be planning to ... not stay the night in South Boston. But maybe that was the plan, and he ... missed his train by nearly 2 hours? That does not sound right. Or it sounds like something happened inside the Bell in Hand to make him want to change his plans and instead of staying out there, or partying in Boston, or overnight in South Boston, he ... headed AWAY. Just strange. There has to be more to explain that.

I love language. I think words are very important. They can be used to heal, to harm, to provoke, to empathize, deceive to enlighten ...

However there can be a tendency for some of us to get bogged down in the minutiae and lose the plot.

Sometimes a cigar really is just a cigar.

"In America the stigma of suicide is rampant snip
"I would think in this instance the implications of suicide might be more painful for the family system than if he fell to his death".

Ironic...since that painful "implication" had a bit of a cult following on this thread.

Remind me, to never to express grief if some I love dies. If something ever happened to me shortly there after, I wouldn't want people to assume I must have been suicidal.

For me, it has not been instantly "assuming". It started about 48 hours in. It is sad.....................whatever "it" is ......

and no matter what it is ---the piece I found on drowning, is just horrible horrible .....its much worse than I thought in terms of your body just not being able to "work"

This is a great point/question. How did they arrive at BiH?(Bell in Hand) Did they all arrive together and did they plan to leave together? Again, his text to the cousin, "LET"S LEAVE" is huge to me. That screams clear intent to me. Someone could argue whether it is true or if the cousin was confused yadda yadda.. That's why I wondered if his messages could be retrieved. Not that I don't believe the cousin, bc I do; but some may not - especially if this gets litigious down in the line with regard to the BiH. And Good Lord, Im not saying that the family wants money. I mean sometimes lawsuits get things, stupid rules, etc changed to prevent this from happening to someone else. Im sorry to keep harping on his not getting back in, but the late hour, (almost closing time?) makes me wonder many things.

"LET"S LEAVE" is huge to me too it does not sound like wanting to die; its all a mess ; but when the whole pic comes in I get lost............(the bold wont go away!)

Amanda said she texted him at 1:41, (where are you), and he texted back. Texts would show time.

still catching up, so maybe this was mentioned but...

snap chat has a chat/text feature too. he could have texted within snapchat.

Last night we has severe thunderstorm/high wind warning. The storms were at their very worst, just after midnight through 4am.

(I know because I had to go out ( at 3am) and retrieve the patio chairs that blew off my balcony. it was wild out there!).

I was wondering how that would effect the search & recovery efforts. I think that might be why they called it off till later in the week.

I found this highly informative & interesting website about side sonar, and an amazing company that offers safer, faster, search assistence.

The site was a wealth of info on recovery of drowning victims, and also had a phone number to get in touch, and support resources for families, (including a private Web forum support group.
Thought I'd share it here:

you are not harping-- as human beings , in minus 9 we all shudder at the notion that another human , if that is what happened , FY , your not back in.

That is just not ok. Now on that I go two ways. Friday night, evidentlt busy, staff is tired, and yeh we all knows bars do close entry 10-15 beofre 2. But if you jerks were doing your job, you would know that he had just excited --- he had been a custumer

BUT then i go near two hectic, maybe the bouncer who was at the door when he left, went somewhere else.

Then we got a guy, who maybe high or maybe not, but at minus 9 with a sweater, looks homeless - so a bouncer that did not know he was a patron, I can see him mouthing were closed.

With this angle the thing I find annoying is making a declarative statement that mon --he would not be denied entry -- makes no sense whatso ever. He had been running in out all night.

If were not going intent, dear bar manegement- well THIS time he obviously did not get back

In just the two pics we have seen - he looks fine. It not like he was leaning on the glass, his gait and body posture in the other pic, looks like someone IMo,that is scared and upset - taking action, on the phone, heading somewhere - where we differ is heading where and why ....

America can indeed be lawsuit crazy, but there are legit suits too imo. People do try to make something out of nothing in some cases, but this is far from nothing. (not saying that you think it is nothing. Didn't mean it like that, of course.)

Anyway, he wouldn't likely have been on the tracks at all had he been inside with his family.

I have yet to hear how any of them got home; and Im curious how they got home bc from his messages he planned to be with them.

Those messages are crucial imo. And I do believe the cousin. She may not have remember them verbatim, but she knows the context....what he intended to convey. (imo)

I have yet to hear how any of them got home

well my goodness you are so right isnt that amazing that that part of the story is nowhere to be found

you asked a brillant and relative question - like much on the sad thing---no answers, and once you slapped in the face with it (!) you would really think that would be part" of the story from the get go

no conspiracy here - just there is so much crazy a@@ stuff ..............

That is my recollection as well. There two that went to VM and the rest she described as the phone being off.

It also struck me that if, just saying if , he was indeed partying of harder caliber substances, he might not have wanted his cousins to see him all messed up

I really dont think to many people watch and count how many drinks others have unless their is a concern about the individual history with alcohol imo

ugh here we go again

Do any of you watch and count another persons drinking numbers?

i don't count, but i know how many drinks i had and IN GENERAL when out with friends, we tend to go round for round, meaning we arrive, grab drinks (round 1), dance or whatever, i finish mine and see my friends are pretty close to finishing theirs so i grab round 2, repeat, someone else gets round 3, repeats... or if the group is smaller, we would tend to all go to the bar together so no one is left alone.

You're thinking somebody else sent the snapchat message? Hm.

Or maybe he made up the "can't get in" excuse to separate from his friends for some reason?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

my issue with that theory is that why would he say "can't get in, let's leave"? why wouldnt he say "cant in, im grabbing a cab, i'll meet you back home later" or something like that?

From my notes:

During a brief text exchange Zachary told her he was “Out front.” At 1:50 a.m. Amanda Marr and the rest of the group made their way outside, but Zachary Marr was nowhere to be found, she said.
---
"He was only alone for 10 minutes. I don't understand it," said Marr's cousin Jessica Fortier-Goss.
---
"He had some drinks but it was definitely nothing out of the ordinary," said Marr's cousin Amanda Marr.
Amanda says they were hanging out at the Bell in Hand and just before 1:30 a.m. Marr stepped outside to smoke a cigarette, not grabbing his coat because it was in the coat check.
---
He sent me a Snapchat saying they're not letting me back in let's leave," said Amanda, "I texted him and said where are you, and he said out front and that was at 1:41 a.m."
---
"The first two times we called him it rang a few times and went to voicemail and then the third time it went straight to voicemail and we never found him," Amanda said.
---
"Then he tried it again and this is within a 4 or 5 minute span, it went right into voicemail," Matt Marr said.
---
“None of us know Boston really,” said Jeremy Wuth, a cousin of Marr. “We’re all out from Leominster. We’re not here all the time. Anything could’ve happened.”
---
“They were having a great time,“ Matt Marr said. “There were some Snapchats, saying we ought to do this again. This is great. They were out on the dance floor, celebrating his birthday in the big city. Why would he ditch his cousins after that?’’
---
“Maybe he got jumped,’’ his father said. “Maybe they took his cellphone.’’

he tried to get back in but he was not allowed because it was closing time. -- somehow this got blurred out by media as it started rolling so maybe he was not bounced --but the bar stating overtly he would not be denied back Monday morning, IMO is not credible.

Its like aplay on words -IMo the above statement sounds logical, its just them "declaring" he would not be allowed back in is.....

And not from the area, he wouldn't know there is a drawbridge with gaps. I cannot imagine the horror of that fall... if that's what it was and it appears to be from what I've read here

So the party didn't arrive by car? Does anyone know? I ask bc why not go to the car and wait if he cant find the cousins leaving the exit of BiH? I guess it depends on where it was parked? or if there was a car at all bc IDK.

we have been ubable to find out if they drove some thinj not others yes. somehow that has not been reported,

I think you might be right, Dionysia. If there isn't video of him meeting with or going somewhere else after the Bell in Hand, then it sounds like he was trying to get to North Station. That might also explain him being seen on video around the Museum of Science (if you overshot the Garden, I guess you could end up near MoS, but it's like a quarter mile or so further west of the Garden area, also on water and a bridge. This is just starting to sound a like an all-over walk around that area of town trying to find a train I guess.

video around the Museum of Science

is this a "new" or second video or is this one being referred to thus far all along??

You would have a field day with MY sm!! Not to mention my kids!!

The alcohol and whatever else you are alluding to on his sm...all normal for a social/average guy his age. Hard to believe, but true.

also, i from what i've seen the alcohol is mostly craft beers. which to plenty of folks is a hobby. we love craft beers and brew our own... if posting a picture of yourself with a craft beer is definitive evidence one has a drinking problem, i guess my husband and i best get ourselves to AA?
