Am I the only one who thinks it looks like he is arguing with someone on the phone in the second surveillance pic? Wish we knew who he was talking to. Praying he is found today

Anybody with familiarity with store security cameras know if their timestamps are absolutely accurate, say as accurate as a cell phone?

I've been thinking about the phone issue, too. Not answering could be, "I'm talking to someone and I don't want to call them back or put them on hold to take your call, so I'll let it go to voicemail." After a few of these, it's possible that the interruptions would aggravate you to the point where you'd just shut your phone off, thinking that you'd get back to them when you were free. Or, you didn't want somebody to hear your phone ring/vibrate, which it would, incessantly, if they were calling as much as they said they did, so you shut it off. And I believe they did call; their phone info would back that up.

That and or freezing. Also when I reviwed pic with his back to us, if you look at head it truly does like he is straining to see something specfic, leaning out. Makes me think there were people around. I would thinkthe next day when the story broke -folks might remeber a man with no jacket in those temps.

Or they thought he was homeless....................

Coming from a non-city person who visits Boston with some frequency -- Boston's loud. He could have been startled by a car alarm, a loud argument down the block, breaking glass, squealing tires, fire or police sirens, you name it. If you're a city dweller, all of those things are part of your everyday background noise and you'd likely ignore it. Coming from a small town, you'd pay more attention and be interested in the cause. That tune out, mind your own business, don't make eye contact wariness is a city thing, and I think it's a factor here, as we wonder why seemingly nobody saw anything. No disrespect or criticism of city dwellers, it's just very different than in a small town.

So....he was seen on the Boston Common Market time stamped video at 1:44am. The cousin said she and the rest of the crew made their way out at 1:50. That is a 6 min time frame that something would have happened to him. If continuing to walk, how far could he have gotten in subzero temps within 6 minutes? And why would he willingly go anywhere when he had been texting (or snapchatting) with his cousin, telling her he was out front waiting?

I think he left in a car with someone, but I can't decide if it's voluntary or not.

If it was voluntary, I don't think it was to skip town and just get away for awhile, and call later to say sorry and I'll be back. So I think something went awry.

In either case, I think he is outside the city or the area, so finding or recovering him could be difficult.

I wonder how long they walked around and looked after 1:50am. Hindsight is 20/20, but if this was so out of character for him, I think I would have had a hard time going home, or perhaps enlisting help from a cop or the bar. 20-somethings or not, and I know someone said that someone said this was out of character for him, but ... really? You all go home without him. He might not have known the city inside and out, but believe me, he's likely been out there before.

I don't think anybody jumps off the Longfellow because they think the fall will kill them. I think they jump to get in the water and drown. At least that's what my neighbor's kid's best friend did earlier this year.

Here's an example...
If my son is stuck in the library studying, he will snapchat a sourpuss face to me with a title "stuck in library! Help!"

Snapchats disappear in about 5 seconds. Doesn't take up space on hard drive. No need to delete.

My 22 year old sister-in-law snapchats with her friends most of the time instead of texting. I think it is a privacy thing with kids these days. They don't like their messages being saved especially if they are out drinking with friends and such. /shrug so the fact that he sent that snapchat doesn't set off any alarms with me and actually seems pretty normal for a guy his age out drinking at 1am.

I would prefer to have my message I was heading out for a smoke to go poof in seconds as opposed to my message that I am stuck outside, freezing and can not get back in. The text form would be a safer bet outside. The order of messaging is backwards to me.

My best bet would be he had his text messages open and sent the one about going out for a smoke and while outside had his snapchat open so he sent a message through that about not getting back in. I personally send messages through whichever app I have open at the time that I need to send a message.

you know what guys - this is nuts --have any of you , partingy watched quanity of drinks -- have any of you timed and known the minute you left a bar drinking.

in panic mode would you know you searched for 9 minutes and 59 seconds it IMO a bunch of cr*p

Two days later - your interviwed, by a local tv station, with your legs up , laptop on using it, we know she was not doing posts about her lost cousin-- we have not found anything posted by her after a couple of days

distressed , pained hunting -- she is on her laptop, calm as can be, stating there was nothing unusual that night

Your honor, I would argue that nothing is unusual, when your cousin vanishes from the planet -- might be a noticable event in your experiance on earth.

I totally get , if an addiction issue, you not wanting to get LE involved.I do. However, when I cant find my cousin, who is running about, in minus 9 degrees i think my priorties would differetn jusyt mo

I also think , cause i care my about cousin, his coat in my hand, at 9 degrees I might give hunting for him more than 600 seconds

its silly much is not ok IMO its child trying to figure out the best wayto not get caught in bad things.........

and most of this is about knowing you have his coat--its 9 below and you spend 600 seconds trying to get his coat back to him so your cousin does not drop dead from freezing to death

The only reason I can ponder about you all not contacting LE at 218, your family member is out there practically naked in minus 9 degrees is how messed YOU are,and /or your criminal past .

Yeh their kids , and probably have not reserched time to death in temps, but anyone would know minus 9 without any protective clothing is not a good thing

just silly I think they all were fu$$$ up and knew not to get LE involved until they could all not be arrested for having drugs on them and in them

Its all about the temp waiting until 8 hours later to "do" anything, knowing he could freezre to death, means to me I dont /cant have any contact with LE until I drain out.

Anyone sober , and not the influence of illigal drugs,would call LE , within 12 mintes --just to expand the search for my loved one who is practially naked is not normative.

Lets rock with the notion he has done this before, being near naked in record breaking temps changes everything it was 9 below that would be my only driving thing if I was looking for him

It reeks of maybe one of us has a warrent whatever, not contacing LE with temps below 41 degrees below freezing , when my loved one is practilly naked is cause for some further invesgation

The homeless here, do not even "strut around halfway naked". Most homeless folks I know layer up! Hats, gloves and usually a back pack with personal essentials, blanket, extra socks, and what have you. There are plenty of outreach orgs around that pass these items out,

Might not be the cleanest, neatest clothing, but they know how to survive Boston winters...

No way would I have mistaken that kid for one of homeless!
