The homeless here, do not even "strut around halfway naked". Most homeless folks I know layer up! Hats, gloves and usually a back pack with personal essentials, blanket, extra socks, and what have you. There are plenty of outreach orgs around that pass these items out,

Might not be the cleanest, neatest clothing, but they know how to survive Boston winters...

No way would I have mistaken that kid for one of homeless!

Exactly, plus Zach had on a button down and a pull over sweater. Not like he was standing outside in his boxers. Most people that go out to bars/clubs don't even wear jackets because of the hassle.

Thank you to everyone for the discussion and pics on the videos, stills and which way Zach is walking. Just to confirm, the evidence we know of or have seen only suggests he walked towards the garage while crossing that street, correct? So how do they know if he was "heading towards the Surface Artery"? Can cameras read minds now or do they have other footage from a different camera near that landmark?

Here's a question -- if Snapchat images disappear after a matter of seconds, how would the cousin know the exact time one was received? I could ask my kids the particulars, but they're asleep ;)
I actually think the media took the liberty of saying it was a Snapchat, since other sources are calling them "texts", but if one or both people were using snapchat, it will make that part of the investigation a lot trickier until they can find Zach's phone.

A few final words on deletion: We can’t guarantee that messages and corresponding metadata will be deleted within a specific timeframe. Keep in mind that we may also retain certain information in backup for a limited period of time or as required by law. This is true even after we’ve deleted messages and corresponding metadata from our servers. We also sometimes receive requests from law enforcement requiring us by law to suspend our ordinary server-deletion practices for specific information. Finally, of course, as with any digital information, there may be ways to access messages while still in temporary storage on recipients’ devices or, forensically, even after they are deleted.

How do you figure?

Does this look like a homeless man strutting around halfway naked?

Oh my goodness yes my deits minus degrees with 16 mph winds, I would certainly notice , and conclude the poor thing does not have any clothes --it is minus 9

what other conclusion could one come to??

My son who lives in Buffalo (comparable temps) does not wear a jacket. He wears a button down and (maybe) a pullover or cardigan. Maybe this is not what some are used to because they have never lived in this climate. He is not halfway naked. Not a quarter naked. He is fully dressed. This is very normal for us.

That is exactly what I am saying !! Someone walking around with a sweater in 9 degrees below, the only conclusion anyone, in passing someone could come to is they dont have $ To get a jacket

minus 9 is pretty intense no?

come up with another conclusion you could come come up with someone passing you in a pullover sweater in minus 9?? lost here we all know he was not homeless - but drivin by what would conclude -

That is the only conclusion I could come up with , and in all likihood I would comment with whom ever I was with ,oh that is so sad, he is freezing

that is all i am saying

cause there is no logical reason for someone to be out in that as humans we would look for reason as to why that it what is occuring,

and the only IMO the only conclsion we might to be able to come up with -- he has got to be unable to buy clothing that would be protective ..............

He was looking towards the garage in the photo where he is standing an looking to the right.

In the second photo he is walking in the opposite direction towards the surface artery. There wasn't any mind reading, that is just what they call the next major street he would come across if he continued walking in that direction.

I live in Boston. My husband does not possess a winter coat. Just wears a jacket that I would consider a fall or spring jacket. My brother has also never owned a real winter coat.

To each his own, I couldn't survive a Boston winter without my hooded down jacket.

I would think a garage would be a little less cold. That would be a place that I would seek refuge if it was -9 and windy, or possibly a subway, or a coffee shop. But what would happen afterwards that is anyone's guess. On such a cold night, I would find it credible that Zachary would accept a ride from a stranger, or seek out any place warm, and worry about the danger later.

Ughhh, yes! It's all in what you're used to, with regard to cold. TBH if he wasn't shivering or obviously in distress, I probably look at him and think, "typical kid, out without a coat."

No need. I deleted my questions.
I thought we needed links to post facts.

Do people dress different when its below freezing as opposed to when it is 41 degrees colder than the 32 degrees

Ya all robust!!!

I live ie in warmth ,would historic temp breaking 41 degrees below freezing point change one attire ??

wow

-9 degrees. I mean, who is really even out at 2 AM, except young kids drinking beer. I would think the streets would be deserted, except for the tavern goers. There is not many people hanging outside, except for Zach, right? Even the homeless want no part of -9. If it was Philly, they declare something called a Code Blue, where they try to get the homeless people into shelters, because of the weather.

code blue in philly.

I would think other cities do this too. Could he have ended up in some type of homeless shelter?
