Suicide is sometimes impulsive. Someone no one would ever expect to attempt suicide or someone who hadn't displayed any symptoms can be victims. It can happen in a flash.

I do wonder if he made previous attempts and if the medication in the photo was a psych med.

I think he was booking it to try to catch the last bus or train.

I wonder where he got on the train to come in to Boston. It doesn't run to Harvard so he would have had to go to Fitchburg or Shirley (or maybe as far as the Alewife). Did anybody check for his car there? Does he have a car?

Maybe. Especially if he didn't know the times and/or if he were confused about what time it was.

Who knows. It's possible he was desperate to get away and when it hit him he couldn't get away he did something else, something drastic.

The timing is a mess

and getting worse and worse

It's not looking good.

And randomly - drowning is not the only way to commit suicide. He might not be in the water at all.

In college, yes, we mostly knew how many drinks, because we would always do "first round's on me!" And then buddy number 2 bought the next round, and so forth. Nobody really jumped ahead of anyone else until we got through everybody's rounds, because we wanted to get all the drinks coming to us first. And being a chick, we made sure our friends knew everytime a sexy dude had bought us a drink. So yes, we pretty much knew what number everybody was sitting at.

ETA: this was in reply to I think Cariis who was asking if people keep track of their friends' drinks, but the quote never did come up.

I don't know about Boston, but here in Savannah, you can get a free shot of liquor at almost any bar by showing ID on your birthday. If the Bell In Hand has more than one bar inside (they have at least two, upstairs and downstairs, correct?), he could have easily had 2+ shots of liquor on the way heading outside to smoke, or on his way back to the group.

We don't know that someone observed his every movement that night. The police may have requested internal bar video footage (if it exists) to try and determine his intoxication level. The bar and LE would likely keep that info to themselves.

What I'm getting at, is he could have had multiple 100+ proof shots of liquor to add to his intoxication level.

I have learned so much on this thread about SM. It has quitly validated my notions. I just ,when going through his stuff , am totally lost.

What is their thought process, I want to take a picture of this beer bottle or half eaten sandwhich. It was amazing to me - kinda scary these folks are gonna be running the joint at some point,.

Humm I wanna take a picture of my left sneaker, and then it gets retweeted. What is going on here.

You have 4 kids so I am going to assume you had a portion of your life without all this nonsense.

Did you ever have an urge to take out your Polariod camera and take a picture of your knee?? And think that anyonbe would be interested in a picture of your knee!!

It was just odd to me , not that they are doing it, they all are, just the thinking that goes on before taking it , my friends want to see my left eyeball, here is a lightbulb I bought, look at my fries of McDonlds

It is the thought process before taking the picture that is so bewildering to. Selfie, go look in the mirrir lot less work !!
Go read a book !!!

i remain clueless!!!

Well, CARIIS, you are not the only one clueless. He has an extreme number (seems to me) of pictures of alcohol or beer on his SM pages. I would never think, at my age now, or in my younger years, of taking some of the pictures these kids take; what is the point. It is true, I am baffled, as well, what is the thought process that goes into this? I certainly hope Zach is okay, but he doesn't seem to be a person who would leave his family in the dark, especially when he was out with family members that night. I can't imagine anyone really doing that, although I guess that there are people that do. Maybe they have the same mindset as the people taking very strange pictures and posting them on SM. Anyway, I pray to God there is an answer soon and that Zach will some how be found alive. Katt

Generation Z thinks every step of their life needs to be put on SM, we might not always understand it, but that's just the way it is. I have a 20 & 22 yld sons, and food and alcohol is not uncommon to see

I am more concerned about him having a burner phone, like the one he showed in one of his instagram pics. If that means he was into drugs or dealing then there is no end into who he went off to meet, imo. I agree it looks like he was walking somewhere with a purpose.
Remember BP do this sort of tracking all the time. I'm sure they have more than we can even imagine as to what they think happened to him. I'm sure his cell phone would yield a lot of info, as to last person who called him, etc. But especially who last called him on the burner phone if that's who he went to meet.

Now I feel stupid.

I saw the phone picture too, but my first thought was that he was making fun of someone (his Dad maybe?) who bought the trac phone, thinking it was a hip upgrade to the Nokia keypad phone.

I'd make a poor detective, I fear :)

Also that building that houses Boston pubkic market also houses a new Registry of Motor Vehicles. Think of all the surveilence cameras in there, yet the public has been shown nothing from there.

  • #772
Where have you all seen the video footage?

  • #773
I thought the same as you! But I googled what Zach posted; a burner phone is used by those in the drug culture who need an anonymous phone. So thats how I found that out. :-)

  • #774
Yeah, lest it appear that I'm a total dork, I do know what a burner phone is :) That just seemed really stupid to put on a public page if it actually was intended to be used by him for some questionable purpose. Social media is weird though, with what and why people are compelled to share, and not.

I tend to agree. I enjoy beer and post about it often but that is just what I chose to show, doesn't mean I drink every night or that being a setting like that would be trigger situation. I thought his cousin said he only had 3 drinks at the bar

But the thing is how much did they drink before they went to the bar?
that's usually the plan---pre party- bar party-then the wind down after party.
cheaper to get a buzz before u go to the bar.

They are not going to show anything at all unless LE feels its important to do so.

The final commuter rail trains in the evening (from north and south station) are usually in the 10pm hour. Haymarket is only a subway stop. Regardless, I doubt he was going to a train.

Also saw something on twitter this morning that they are dive searching again today.

  • #779
Unsure actually if search is this morning. Was confusing because show is WBZ this morning. Let's see if helicopters or teams show up today or this week. A bit junky weathet the next couple of days.

I think they are pretty sure he is in the water!
It takes a certain amount of time for the body to rise to the surface.
Depends on the water temp I believe!
