Madeleine police gain new information from samples

Chief Inspector Olegario Sousa, spokesman for Portugal’s PolÍcia Judiciária, which is leading the investigation, refused to confirm reports about the results.
He said that all lines of inquiry were still being pursued, but the theory that Madeleine was dead was being given “special attention”.
“The lines are the same since the beginning — they are all open,” he said.
“We said that the results are important for one of the lines, the one that considers the hypothesis of the little girl being dead. At this moment we are taking special attention on the hypothesis of death.”

Dont know if this is good or bad news, good that they may be making an arrest but bad if Madelaine has passed away.

you can clearly see the different reporting styles, nothing else up yet but will keep a look out on Sky News website (slightly more reliable than the tabs!) and broadsheets.

looks like some fudging is going on doesn't it, but I think it's not going to be good news either way, and there'll be a breakthrough announcement at some point today or tomorrow. Very sad....

The DNA is said to have been found in an area of the Praia da Luz flat where the individual should not have been.

Corpse smell on Kate McCann's clothing and on Cuddle Cat. The samples taken for analysis came from the car they rented and the floor and cupboard of the second flat (not the apartment Madeleine disappeared from) in PDL. In other words, evidence of Madeleine or her body in the rental flat or villa, not the holiday apartment.

Quote from someone in Portugal about the newspaper. Sorry, the source comes from another forum.

"Correio da manhã is the best selling newspaper. It's a paper that writes many popular news, the kind of news you don't see on tv news about the common people (crimes, tragedy). It's not the gossip type in my opinion. Until now, i don't recall anything they have published that its not true. And it's well known for having sources inside the police. IMO, Correio da Manhã, Diário de Noticias, Público e Expresso are the best portuguese newspapers, the most credible ones."

Phone intercepts ‘confirm Maddy’s death’

spacer.gif
Intercepted telephone calls and emails between the McCanns and their friends have "confirmed the death of Madeleine" say police, according to one Portuguese newspaper today. The intercepts are said to have been made in a joint operation conducted by Portuguese and British police officers.

I'm sorry, I've been reading strange threads at other forums and this thread.... so they know little Maddy is dead?

~~~ clipped from the same article.
Police have known "for a month" that Madeleine had died in the apartment, it is widely reported. The tabloid newspaper 24 Horas says that the police are looking for Madeleine's body in the sea, helped by English sniffer dogs. They have intensified searches around the nearby town of Lagos and along the Algarvian coast, it says.
Blood found in the apartment two days ago has arrived in Britain for DNA analysis: a result can be expected inside 48 hours
Oh, precious baby girl, I hope you did not suffer! In the arms of angels.
anns To Be Quizzed Separately
Madeleine McCann's parents will be separately re-interviewed by Portuguese police investigating her disappearance.
Detectives are to question Kate McCann this afternoon and Gerry McCann tomorrow, a family friend said.
Mrs McCann will attend the police station in Portimao in the Algarve at 2pm, accompanied by her lawyer, Carlos Pinto de Abreu.
Her husband will be questioned separately at the same police station tomorrow.
Sky News Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt said police wanted to re-interview the McCanns as witnesses.
But he added: "According to the McCann family it appears to be more formal."............................SNIPPET
From the same article;
"The McCanns spokesperson said: "The Portuguese police have not phoned Kate and Gerry, and have not told them about the test results"
This to me is very telling. IF they have something that does NOT implicate the McCann's wouldn't they be the FIRST people they would tell? I am worried...
An arguido is someone who is being treated by police as more than a witness but has not been arrested or charged.
A person undergoing police questioning can ask to have arguido status, giving them the right to a lawyer and to maintain their silence.
I think this might be it............She is taking her lawyer with her, the police said that it was informal witness questioning, but family friends are saying it is official questioning and she is taking her lawyer with her.
Obviously, I'm ahead of the investigation, but what will happen to all the money if Kate and Gerry are charged? Surely, it won't be used for their defense.
I can't remember where in the heck I read it, but maybe one of you sleuthers have as well: that Kate and Gerry's lawyer has filed papers to make them assistants in the matter so they can have more access to the case. Has anyone ever heard such a thing... a parent being made an assistant on the law enforcement level, regarding their child's case? I know I have never heard such a thing... and if I was LE I would be very reluctant to allow it... especially when even the smallest of chance exists that the parents may be involved in the child going missing.
Prayers to little Madelaine, it looks like we will hear something very soon, and it isnt looking good for the McCanns, hope they have made arrangements for their two other children.
I am no expert, but I think that would be illegal. Quite apart from that, they would be hung, drawn and quartered in the court of public opinion.
Seems to me that the British media should pay for their defense....being on their side has sold millions of papers for them.
