Unbelievable the McCann's aren't out putting ONE poster up, while at the same time meeting people, talking to locals, checking the area.:banghead:

They seem to have made up their minds that she was abducted and taken out of the country very soon after. Yes, that is a possibility.

BUT there are so many other possibilities too!!! I agree CD--I wish to heck they would be more proactive locally--esp with high tourist season upon us. :( makes me scratch my head!!!!

I'm new on the board and just wanted to say you guys are all saying exactly what most of the general population is thinking. You're educated professionals in another country, and you up and just leave these tiny kids all alone in a strange hotel room? If that were someone with no means they'd be locked up. Both of them and their other kids would be in the system.

Welcome Filly--

It is illegal in both PT and UK to leave children unattended when it can place them in harms way. EU doctrine on child endangerment under several documents including children travel guidelines for sex exploitation and trafficking.

I hope there are not different rules for them because of their socioeconomic situation.

It will be interesting if this is brought up in the near future. Somehow, I fear not.

But sounds like PT LE is fighting back a bit with last article from sky--Family Fatal Errors--maybe if they feel like they (LE) is pushed against the wall-they will bring charges against them. Maybe why the McCanns are laying low in PT.

Morning All....Happy Father's Day!

Salem: I got a million of em', that one really fit my reaction to that statement. My husband, who does not read anything about this case, said "seems like it's awfully soon". I agree with Englishleigh: "not to travel some more and be an "advocate", b/c you and your husband are poster children for selfish, self-centered parents"

<<And Kate, if you're going to quit being a doctor, do it to be a SAHM for your remaining children, not to travel some more and be an "advocate", b/c you and your husband are poster children for selfish, self-centered parents.>>

Some parental victims of child abductions are just not meant to become activists on the issue.

Another one that bugs me is Mr. Smart. I was shocked to see him on a commercial hawking alarm systems. I think he should have been on a commercial promoting hiring union labor.

similar story in BBC about evidence destoyed in hotel room

My thought? Just a way for LE to place blame elsewhere for their rotten investigation. Consider, LE only found evidence (DNA) of one other person in their room. With all the people who were in the room you would think some other hair, etc. would have been found.

How do I feel about PT LE (especially Sousa)?

I have seen a couple of names mentioned--one a fellow cardiac counsultant working with Mr McCann who was on holiday too.. The statement from him was wishing the best for the family (paraphrased). and in only one article. Will look for link when I can.

But that is it!!! Docs will never talk about Docs...imoo

The nanny IIRC went to the states to visit family in US during their one week holiday in the Algarve. Haven't seen anything about her. :silenced:

What about neighbors, playmates families, etc. Unbelievable:snooty:

The McCanns only worked and lived in their current area for two years IIRC. Prior to that they lived in Amsterdam--maybe some connection from there????? Who knows?????

I had read somewhere that the Nanny was supposed to go on the holiday but because of a family illness or something couldn't. I wonder why she hasn't gone out there now to join in helping out with the twins, whom I would imagine they have a stronger bond with, the family dont live near the McCanns from what I understand. I wonder is she is still on the McCann payroll during their extended stay? If not has she suddenly found herself out of a job?

These two are such skinflints I wonder if they have paid for a 'qualified' Nanny and not just some 'home help' that would double up so to speak. Just a theory as to why she may be laying low, if it came out that she wasn't properly qualified it would heap further criticism on the parents.

IIRC <

also can someone tell me what does LE mean?

Almost 2.000 posts here.....just read the last couple of pages.

Found it very interesting....especially about the Nanny:doh:

Discussion is similar to the one here ......but has some local british flavour and of course their keen sense of wit! ;)

Thanks for the link-I hadn't been over there for a while, its re-assuring to know that there are questions being asked of the parents, hopefully a few wont rest until those questions are answered.

"I think these children were left alone every night, the kids cried for their parents, and that while the babies finally fell asleep. Madeleine left and went out to look for her parents..."

This seems to be the case. A Portuguese family in the next apartment (who were home every night with their kids) hear Madeleine crying several nights in a row after the McCanns left for dinner. She was calling for her Daddy, they said.

Happy Father's Day, Gerry McCann....you punk!

YW :)

You're welcome!

I have only gotten a few of these little shortcuts to use--

Seen some kids use these all the time--they can write a whole text with only about 10 letters!

I find that to be an VERY odd statement. I always thought that a parent of a missing child never gave up hope! Not ever! Look at Etan Patz (sp?) His mother never moved from the apartment they lived in and never gave up! That is just ONE, I could name 100 more. NEVER before have I heard a parent throw in the towel conceeding defeat this early on in somthing like this.

Well, let not forget Melinda Duckett..Sorry couldn't help but throw that in!! Another parent in the same league as the McCann's....JMO of course.
