I go away for a day and all heck breaks loose. Wow, wouldn't it be wonderful if they can get a DNA match to Madeleine off that straw. Just to prove she is alive after disappearing for three months would be a huge jolt of morale to all of us who want this child found and returned. And then if little Ylenia ties in with Madeleine too, maybe both girls would be discovered safely.

This would be GREAT news!!
Hoping for a miracle soon!!!!!

Ok that statement about the undergrowth being cleared and trees cut down worries me. WHY? Do they think or have new evidence that she could be buried under the undergrowth on Murat's property?

Oh no.............just read what colomom posted and what is happening at RMs house. Sounds dreadful. I hope it is all wrong.:( :(

New search at McCann suspect home

_42920493_mad_everton203.jpg
Four-year-old Madeleine was last seen on 3 May

Police in Portugal investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have renewed their search of the home of 33-year-old Briton Robert Murat.

Up to 10 officers returned to the home of the only official suspect in the case, in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve.
Four-year-old Madeleine went missing from the resort in May, while she was on holiday with her family.
Mr Murat's property was initially searched days after Madeleine was abducted while she slept.
The BBC's Steve Kingstone, in Praia da Luz, says police - including two British detectives - arrived at the house at 0700 (0600GMT).
He says the property is thick with vegetation and the officers are using rakes and hedge trimmers to clear the search area.

This is really confusing.. The Sky News arcticle says.."The development comes just after a woman in Belgium insisted she saw the missing four-year-old in a cafe with a couple who were acting strangely.
She said the child was with an English-speaking woman and a Dutch man in the Flemish town of Tongeren."
So what about this couple has driven the authorities back to Murat's? Isn't he English? And wasn't his aquaintance that was investigated Russian? So where is the Dutch link back to him?

Hello again..

I think these two things (the sightings in Belgium and the developments in Portugal) are two completely separate things.

I think the sightings in Belgium are a "red herring". I think that the child in Belgium looked alot like Maddie but after reading the description by the waitress and the customer (a child psychologist) of the girl being "5 or 6" I was immediately unsure. After all, Maddie is described as being small for her age and she is only 4.

I think the search at Murat's is going on to specifically clear him as a suspect. To absolutely prove that she is not there. The Sol article says that the PJ is focusing on the McCann family and the Tapas 9 (OMG). They are definately looking for a body.

More later....

Thanks Colomom... So in that other article did you read it like the friends of the McCann's are suspect? That's the way it read to me...

  • #333
Yeah Jdee...

Although an official source from the PGR justified the postponing of the interview with “agenda issues”, the moves by the PJ and some elements from the british police during these last days – accompanied by two dogs, in Praia da Luz – seem to indicate that the investigation is now centered on the McCann family and their group of friends.

Even though I always thought something happened in the apartment reading this made me feel sick to my stomach. I am trying not to take it as gospel at this point. The Sol reporters have been very thorough and on the money so far, it makes it hard not to give up all hope.

Only time will tell...

These stories all very much oriented toward the family and friends. It almost sounds as though there was never any real belief by PJ that Murat was their guy...or at least not their only guy.

From the geocities translations:

But the contradictions that led the PJ to suspect the group of nine british people right from the start, are still to be clarified

PJ suspected a connection between Robert Murat and one of the McCann’s friends. Apart from that, there are few clues: at the arguido’s home, all they found was a ******** and an article about Casanova

Judiciaria keeps Robert Murat as a main suspect anyway, and has been exploring the possibility of connections between him and Russell O’Brien, one of the members of the group of nine. But the only connection seems to be the fact that Murat went to Exeter, in England, where a sister of his lives, and where also Russell and Jane live, ten days before the child vanished.

Although an official source from the PGR justified the postponing of the interview with “agenda issues”, the moves by the PJ and some elements from the british police during these last days – accompanied by two dogs, in Praia da Luz – seem to indicate that the investigation is now centered on the McCann family and their group of friends.

The animal’s path, on Wednesday night, seemed to test the deposition from several witnesses that were heard by the PJ in late May – namely an irish family that have been living in Luz, and who, on the day that Maddie vanished, reportedly crossed ways with a man that carried a child that seemed to be asleep.
(These witnesses saw Murat- whom they knew- in a bar earlier that evening. They insist they would have recognized him had he been the child carrying man whom they saw. They saw him later-post 10pm- on the beach.
And apparently the dog has somewhat confirmed that path of Madeleine's scent.)

Yet, the british media continue to point a finger at the anglo-portuguese man, although the criminal investigation has returned to clues that relate to the group of friends of Madeleine’s parents.

Read like that to me, too. I'm back to my theory of that dr. friend of theirs doping all the kids and overdoping Maddie...and a panic...a pact...and a coverup.

This news about the dogs makes me feel sick. For a long time I've felt that RM was innocent, and I wonder if the PJ just kept throwing his name out as a suspect to disguise where the investigation was heading. Maybe the parents and their friends have been the true suspects all along, but LE didn't want to tip their hand. Or, maybe when the new officers from the UK showed up this past week, the stories from the McCann group didn't add up and it lead them to rethink whether Madeleine was truly alive.

But this part of the new SOL report sounds suspicious:
The irish man told Sol that he knew Robert Murat (the only arguido in the process) visually for years – and also remembered seeing the anglo-portuguese man in a bar that evening, “already a bit intoxicated”. Therefore, the irish dismissed the possibility that the person he saw carrying a child could be Murat: “If it was him, I guarantee to you that I would have recognized him”.

I thought RM was at home eating with his mother and didn't leave the villa all night. How could he be drinking in a bar?

Perhaps he was drinking in a bar and the reason his alibi changed from being with his girlfriend to being home with mom was because he is involved.

I never understood why GM, when asked if he knew RM, replied "no comment" :waitasec:

Something else to "chew on". I just copied it off Mike's blog.

"Someone posted the following in 'Anorak News'..

(http://www.anorak.co.uk/news/madeleine-mccann/175706.html 4th comment down)

'The woman who spotted Maddie in Morocco was Mari Olli Pollard - a retired Social Worker according to reports. Another witness in the ‘care profession’? Just how many more witnesses and family members of the McCanns, the Murats and the Everleighs are going to turn out to be from the ‘care’ professions. Bit of a pattern developing. Mari Olli Pollard also used to live in Groby, Leics with her husband Raymond, just 10 minutes drive away from the McCanns in Rothley."

"I think having three young children played a part too. They knew they would have had to carry the three of them asleep to the creche, both there and back."

Oh, what a terrible burden to have to carry three beautiful sleeping babes from one place to another! Which of us, as parents, has ever considered this a chore or a burden rather than one of life's greatest joys?

The McCanns are selfish irresponsible spoiled brats, and that's why their gorgeous little Maddie is gone.

From SOL:

Although an official source from the PGR justified the postponing of the interview with “agenda issues”, the moves by the PJ and some elements from the british police during these last days – accompanied by two dogs, in Praia da Luz – seem to indicate that the investigation is now centered on the McCann family and their group of friends.

Sol could find out that the english dogs are trained for different tasks. One, to detect human remains originating from dead flesh, and the other one to detect human blood or fluids. A specialist that was contacted by Sol explains that the technique of these animals rests on scientific bases, and that while “one of the dogs can distinguish between natural death or death by accident that does not involve bloodshed, the other one can diagnose whether someone died a violent death, with bloodshed or other spilled fluids”.

Tuesday night, a black and white cocker spaniel that is trained to detect death, spent several hours in the apartment that the McCann family occupied in the Ocean Club resort, and from where Maddie disappeared on May 3. According to sources within the investigation, the dog marked the death of the child inside the apartment.
