"The dog marked the death of the child inside the apartment".

An inside job. One of the parents, or one of their freewheeling friends.

They're searching Murat's home again:

Police Search Suspect's Home
Updated: 14:51, Saturday August 04, 2007

The home of Robert Murat - the only named suspect in the Madeleine McCann inquiry - is being searched again.

Two British police officers are at the scene in Portugal - where undergrowth is being cleared and trees cut down - along with around eight from the local force.

It is thought the operation could last four days.

Pinkhammer, that info you posted - OMG!

That's our worst thoughts, even those of us whom couldn't wrap our heads around parts of this case and Gerry. I've thought this kind of scenario, but never said it out loud. You just don't want that to be the situation.

Wow. For those of you whom follow the other forums and blogs, what are they saying about this?

Would the body smell of death that quickly? If she was killed in the apartment, she had to be removed within a very short period of time since the body was not found when police were called.

Ask the cocker spaniel. ;)

No matter how much I read on tracking dogs--I just do not seem to absorb the information. And need to go back and reread again and again.

It is rather yucky but....

Certain dogs are trained to sniff certain chemicals that are released by the body immediately upon death.

The chemicals released are different (or in different combination) for death by natural causes, death by accident and death with blood or other fluids being released.

The article does not specify which type of death the cocker spaniel hit on.

Ugh...

I didn't really expect them to find anything. Maybe they were just trying to elimate RM as a suspect. And what would be gained by spending the night in the villa? Are they protecting Murat and his family?

It sure was!!

This is one of the most twisty, convoluted cases I have ever seen. It almost reads like some kind of mystery story except it's disturbingly real. Poor Madeleine.

Madeleine, I’m sorry I left you alone

As it approaches 100 days since her daughter’s abduction, Kate McCann tells Steven Swinford in her first solo interview of her sense of guilt and the pain when her infant twins ask: where’s Madeleine?

The mother of Madeleine McCann has apologised to her absent daughter, saying she is “desperately sorry” for leaving her alone on the night she was abducted.

She also revealed some of the little girl’s last words to her — and that her toddler brother and sister still talk of Madeleine.

Kate McCann, 38, was speaking last week nearly 100 days after the four-year-old was taken from the family’s holiday apartment on the Algarve.

It was the first time she had given an interview without her husband Gerry. The tension showed on her face as she described the regret still plaguing her. (more)

OMG, just been catching up on the news, I didnt think Murat was involved, and with this latest search on his home surely that has confirmed it and the LE should now be focusing on the McCanns and their friends.
Reading about the dogs searching the last place where we all know Madelaine was last seen, and now could have died there is an absolute shock to me. I am still hoping she was the little girl sighted in Belgium, we need to get the results of the DNA back to either verify or negate that it was Madelaine.
This story has so many twists and turns, I wonder if the LE have any idea at all. Keeping my fingers crossed that Madelaine is the little girl sighted in Belgium.

Know what bugs me about this article?

This:

They were 20 yards from the villa and checked on the children every half hour, she said.

But when she returned at about 9pm she found Madeleine had gone. She immediately realised she had been abducted.

Hello? Consistency? PLEASE?

I caught that too. Ya know, I don't think they know what time they checked on them. And that's a big problem because the time-line is so not solid.

The staff at the restaurant said none of the McCanns or their friends left the restaurant during the course of their dinner.
Things are not looking good for the McCanns. The real truth is starting to come out.

Shazza,

I agree that it appears that the search of Murat's was not to "nail him" but to clear him. I think they need to be sure that all thier bases are covered before presenting what may be the case of the century. They do not need to have an attorney asking, "did you search the property?". Know what I mean? They need SOLID evidence, even if circumstantial, if they are to go forward with a case (that this looks like) may be presented.

While my heart breaks for Maddie, and I know if it is confirmed that she is no longer with us, I will feel sorrow beyond what I have felt so far. And I was a complete basket case that first week, I could barely function. I cried so hard. I felt like she was my baby and I wanted to protect her and save her. Sorry, I get so emotional about this, it just floors me.

The little girl in Belgium was described by two people who are very familiar with children (a child psychologist and a waitress that caters to families) as being about 5 or 6 and Maddie was always described as a wee litle thing, 90 CMS? (I don't know, I don't do math) but small for her age and she is only 4. Plus I read a report that they said she had blue eyes. Maddie's were more green. I am not confident. Plus it has been over a week since they had the DNA to test, sorry...results should have been in by now!! Especially with a high-profile case such as this.

I need to call it a night, I am exhausted...and HUNGRY,

I will check in with you all tomorrow.

Prayers for Madeleine...wherever she is I hope she is in the arms of an angel.

This case has affected me more than I thought it would, I just cant seem to let Madelaine go, I am so hoping that she is still alive although the chances are slim.

Here is an interesting site I just stumbled upon:
http://tinyurl.com/2zgyr6

It is appears to be some sort of site that lists travel arrangements for people flying to Magaluf (a beach resort in Majorca) on April 9, 2007. Here is what caught my eye:

The Russel Obrien name is the only one I recognize, and it may be someone totally unrelated to "THE" Russel O'Brien from the McCann case. It is interesting, however, that jet setting Russell OBrien flew out of Manchester. Does anyone recall, however, that some of the McCann party were supposed to have been in Portugal for a period of time before the McCann's arrived?

ETA: when I posted, this there were interesting, little gif's were there are now only links. Sorry....

OK...just one more thing...:blushing:

ARTICLE 1 - SOL, SATURDAY 4 AUGUST

By Felicia Cabrita
The PJ have not found the slightest traces of Madeleine McCann in the gardens of Robert Murat’s house.

According to Sol’s inquiries, the search will continue tomorrow morning, very early, but this time will run through the interior of the home wher Murat lives with his mother.

The PJ - who are conducting the search together with a team of English police, accompanied by tow dogs that have also come from England - spent the whole of Saturday going through the gardens and tomorrow will revisit the interior of the house, including searching for hidden places and double walls.

As Sol indicated in yesterday’s (Saturday) edition, since the middle of this week the Portuguese and Englisg police have been conducting searches with dogs in the Ocean Club apartment where the McCann family spent their holidays, and in the immediate vicinity of the apartment, located in Prai Da Luz.

According to police sources “there are strong indications” that Maddie, who disappeared almost 100 days ago “is already dead”.

Sol’s inquiries indicate that in the search of the McCann’s apartment the English dogs ‘indicated’ Maddie’s death [had occurred there].

These are dogs that are trained specifically for two types of tasks: one to detect human traces that originate from a dead body and the other to detect blood or other human fluid.

Despite this, the police have to conduct inquiries to rule out all hypotheses that have been raised in the case and it is in this context that the searches of the Murat home are being conducted.

One of the bits of information that reached the investrigators is that Murat’s mother frequently conducts work in her garden, and is a specialist in rapid landscape gardening.

To date, nevertheless, it is increasingl clear that that no evidence exists against Murat and his mother. And, according to our sources, the police investigation has returned to its initial focus - on those close to the McCanns.
