Madeleine McCann found?

That CNN report is so annoying constantly referring to her as "baby Maddy". She's not know by that anywhere else and she wasn't a baby??

Any three year old in my eyes, is still considered a baby. Unless she had started dating...

I thought Maddy had been spotted about 2 weeks ago by credible sources. So, she still has not been found? Was she really seen? What a nightmare.

I hate to tell you this but many Europeans are not as paranoid while on vacation as Americans are. I have traveled in my yuth and it was not unusual at all.
They often go down to the hotel bar for a drink while leaving children in their room.
This case may have stopped many from doing so.
but No I have not assessed that they are lousy parents at all.
Maybe a bit naive and the pain must have changed them much.

Good call, it's not just Europeans that are not as paranoid on vacation. I've seen parents from many countries allow their children free run of holiday accommodation, theme parks, beaches and other attractions in Australia and Thailand, I've also been told it is the same in many other places around the world.

Allegedly some guy (whose credibility we don't have a statement about) told some other guy (a barrister who is supposedly a credible source) in August that he had seen Maddie during the summer. So it's been a while longer than two weeks.

Well, good for them! The fact is, if that child was abducted, it's beause they left their children alone. Nobody tried to get in that villa while one of the parents were checking on the children-and I am not at all provincial-I've been to Europe many times, and other places too. Children of that age cannot properly care for themselves-period! There are too many stories of things happening to unsupervised children, for me to think it's ok to leave them alone, so I can spend 3 hours eating and drinking. Especially when they could have easily gotten a sitter-but chose not to.

Do they regularly leave 3 year olds to care for babies?

IMO they were not leaving a 3 year old to care for babies.

IMO parents know what their children's sleeping habits are, if they are used to their children sleeping through the night then they might leave them inside sleeping and just do checks on them.

Some parents leave children sleeping in a house while they are outside in the hot tub/pool, having bbqs/drinks, over at a neighbours, or even while they go to the shop. some leave their children sleeping in tents while they socialize with other adults.

what's the norm for each of us will be different according to our backgrounds and personal experiences.

Radar online is reporting that The Mirror is reporting an arrest has been made.
Great article if you follow the link to The Mirrors article.

Let's all hope it leads to her recovery.

With all due respect, these people had no idea that two of their three children screamed for more than an hour the previous night-they likely weren't even asleep, or even close to it when they left them alone. Europeans may do this all the time (I am personally not convinced that they all do), but, for me, that doesn't mean it's a good idea. And obviously, for the McCanns, it definitely wasn't.

Yes, I've been in my backyard. I used a baby monitor, locked my doors, set the alarms and left the trained guard dog inside.
Never at the neighbors, never shopped.

I read this thread religiously but never comment....I am European,in fact British just want to clarify the whole leaving your kids argument.

Its common over here to leave buggies parked outside the shops while you pop in,for kids to be in bed and the adults to be out in the garden etc.

I wouldn't do what kate and gerry did but it goes on a lot over here and I know of people who have done similar on holiday. It is not as taboo over here as it may be in other countries.

I shall go back into lurking :seeya:

Oh what I've said is just based on the city I live in and the surrounding areas

" He did not elaborate on what has changed, but said he hopes when the public sees the new reconstruction more information will come in that will move the investigation forward.

The reconstruction — and pictures of men police would like to speak to who were seen in and around the resort where Madeleine disappeared — will feature in a BBC “Crimewatch” program set to air Monday.

Police said they would like to identify the men and eliminate the innocent as suspects

"'New significance'

"The purpose of the Crimewatch appeal, which police are describing as the "most complex and detailed" so far in the case, is to try to identify a number of computer-generated images, or e-fits, of men who were sighted in and around Praia da Luz on or before Thursday 3 May 2007.

As part of that effort, a reconstruction - almost 25 minutes long - of events leading up to and surrounding Madeleine's disappearance will be shown

Like everyone else here, the thought that Madeleine McCann might have been in the hands of pedophiles for 6 years, really disturbs me. I am hoping that isn't the case, but the alternative to that is that she has been dead all of this time, and I don't want that, either. Let's hope that whoever is responsible for her disappearance, is held accountable.

And I hate to tell you this, but the McCanns are not European.

They are British.

:seeya:

Also, we don't have to look very far to see what the "norm" is for holidaying parents from the UK. The Tapas crew all had their children with them too.

None of the other children were left alone...the Tapas crew either stayed in to look after their kids, or arranged babysitters...a service which was freely available in the resort, the resort that mostly catered to British tourists. The reason there was a nanny service in the first place is because there is a demand for a nanny service - British tourists DO NOT take off for dinner and leave their kids alone. Apart from the McCanns, that is.

There is evidence Madeleine died that night in 5a.

Just ask Eddie and Keela.

I know lots of folks have no problem dismissing the work of the dogs, but I do. They know what they smelt.

I am with "working dogs" every day, and do not dismiss their work. I hope that sometime soon, we will know what happened to the little girl-realistically, I don't expect that she will be found alive (sorry to say)

The Crimewatch show is going to be interesting.

LE have just announced that the "timeline" of that evening has "significantly changed" from what we all believe.

How?

The timeline was inscribed in stone (well a page from Maddy's book) on the same evening...how can this have changed????????

The only answer is, they have uncovered something (phone records?) which pretty much blows the Tapas Timeline to smithereens.

This is getting VERY interesting indeed.
