It is opinion, not fact. Only two of the Smith party thought that the man looked like GM, the others did not. Martin Smith was only "60-80%" sure that the individual was GM. That is a long way from being a positive identification.

And saying that "the child could be MADELEINE McCANN" is not evidence, it is merely supposition.
Although according to the report you quote, no one said that anyway.

How many smiths were there? I thought it was husband and wife. 60 -80% is pretty close to a positive IMO. Why say GM in the first place if they weren't sure? They could've just given an efit and that would be the end of it. The fact that they mentioned GM speaks volumes.

there were parents and two children

they never even mentioned Gerry in initial statement - there first statement said they didn't get a close look at face

It wasn't until months later back in Ireland and watching a news clip of Gerry returning to the UK that the similarity of the twin being carried by Gerry RESEMBLED the way the child was being carried in PDL

Its not even an ID - If this was the Eureka sighting why on earth have authorities not arrested Gerry - has there ever been even a line up - can you imagine this witness ever getting near a courtroom - he would be crucified

You also have still have witnesses placing Gerry back at the Tapas at the time this sighting took place -

Then you have the explanation that even if it was Gerry the timings just don't work - where was he going how did he quickly hide the body to get back to the apartment for the discovery

Are we really saying that the PJ in all their investigation at the time did not tie down this crucial time line -they spoke to all the witnesses they would create their own time line in the incident room - so out of all this mess we are now saying the PJ somehow missed a half hour period where Gerry was completely missing ??

I think I've read somewhere that there were nine people in the Smith party. I don't know if they were all present at the time of the sighting, but there were definitely more than two of them there.

IMO this points to their being able to bring a Government down as Gerry McCann is privy to insider knowledge about elite Government pedophiles. Otherwise, why would they be deemed to be a national security risk?

From my research of the statements of independent witnesses, there is not one person who can verify that Gerry was in the Tapas Bar at 10pm.

How do we know he had a phone with him? Was the younger Smith the one who helped with the efit that was suppressed for5 years by the McCanns? Why do you think they suddenly decided to release these efits? Is it because Scotland Yard got involved and are reviewing ALL evidence? Good on them if they finally get to the bottom of this. Parents or not.
