I'm really curious about these pictures, any ideas what they're about and where they come from?

If the blogs are to be believed the new photos are from someone who was sitting in or near the Tapas bar the evening

The kicker is that whoever has these images is negotiating with the the british tabs to sell the photos for up to 1/2 a million - before then geiving them to the authorities

all sounds a bit dubious - why wait 14 months .

all will be revealed in a few days no doubt

There are at least 2 old pictures that need some explaining. If any old pictures are among this 24 I would think that the "Topless Maddie pool pic" and the "Maddie coming out of the play house at PDL pic" need another look. Of course this has been discussed before, so sorry to rehash old news.

The pool picture is odd. I have never understood having a professional (male) photographer taking what appears to be a nude picture of a toddler. Parents, sure I have a few adorable bath tub pics I love. we;ve all done it... But a male professional potographer come to my house and take naked pictures of my little girl?...NEVER.

Also the picture of Maddie at the play ground coming out of the playhouse. I can't remember the exact dimensions right now, and am too lazy to look for it, but in that picture Maddie was the same height as the door, but according to the manufacture specks, the door was *I think* 12 cm HIGHER than the McCanns statement on Madeleine's height at the time she went missing. According to that picture, Madeleine was actually much taller than what her parents said she was. I could see being off 5 cm either way, but not by 12! Something is fishy there.

Totally agree IW, not in a million years would I have commissioned a nude or topless picture of my daughter, this always made me wonder & quite appalled me! The one with the GIANT ice cream cone gave me the shivers!

& yes Madeleine does look taller than she "should be" in that picture. The weird thing for me about her height is that although she was supposed to be quite a bit smaller than she should have been for her age, the McCanns never publicised that fact. They made such a big deal about the coloboma that may or may not have been there at all but didn't ever say she is small for her age!

let me get this straight - are you/IW saying that the Mcaans commissioned a private photographer to take nude and topless photographs of Madeline and has then posted these photos on the net ?

is that correct ?

Has anyone reported this to the police ??

I didn't like that pic at all. I understand if you as a mom take that picture in the privacy of your home but to hire a stranger to do that? No way! I have the feeling Madeleine probably was a victim of sexual abuse (which by the way doesn't know barriers, rich, poor, educated or uneducated) happens in all circles. :(

Me too, SM. The latest revelations about David Payne and Gerry McCann and their inappropriate dinner table conversation just reinforced my suspicions in that regard.

That makes me sick. It would explain a "pact of silence" though.

McCann case: 24 pictures that may help to re-open the case

A tourist that was at the Tapas Bar, on the night of May 3, took several pictures where the table with the McCann and their friends is visible. The tourist was with his wife and another couple and they took pictures from each other, with the McCann table on second plan.

The owner of the pictures is negotiating with several British newspapers to sell the rights for an exclusive publication, but with a condition: before being published, the pictures must be sent to the Portuguese police. The tourist is well aware that the pictures may have important evidence related with a crime and not sending it to police is considered also a crime, in his country.

Yesterday, a well known legal office from UK knew about the existence of those pictures and contacted the owner, offering to buy all pictures for 600,000 Euros. But the British lawyers didn't accept the condition set by the owner – that the pictures should be sent to the Portuguese police, just before the transaction. The lawyers' office wanted to be free to choose the moment when the pictures would be send to Portuguese authorities, so the offer was refused by the tourist.

Madeleine McCann's parents hire US private investigators

Madeleine McCann's parents have hired a US private investigator firm made up of former CIA and FBI agents and special forces veterans as part of a renewed push to find their missing daughter, it was reported.

By Aislinn Simpson
Last Updated: 8:47AM BST 13 Aug 2008

The team are said to be taking over primary responsibility for the investigating into Madeleine's disappearance, although the Spanish firm Metodo 3, which has until now spearheaded the search, will continue to follow up information from Spain and Portugal.
The news comes shortly after Portuguese police shelved the case and released a 30,000 page dossier detailing their investigation.

The dossier has revealed thousands of potential sightings of the three-year-old following her disappearance from the family's rented holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve on May 3 last year.

The US firm, which has not been named, is said to have been offered a £500,000 six-month contract by the Find Madeleine Fund, which has received donations from several wealthy benefactors and wellwishers around the world.

However, according to previous reports, there is only £500,000 left in the fighting fund.

If what the article says is true, these mysterious pictures sounds eerily familiar. Remeber the undercover Journalist/taxi driver who waited over a year to release a taped confession in Aruba? Thanks for the info. Whatever the case, I'm sure someone else wants to profit from Madeleine. Poor baby girl.

It would be interesting to make a list of every person/parent/tapas 7/media/marketing firm/attorney/LE/wrist band maker/t-shirt maker/computer nerds/etc. who has profited off of Madeleine, and how much. I'm sure we are talking in the Billions by now if you count newspaper sales. So sad.

It's sickening they're trying to sell these pics!

Regarding the "sale" of these pics....consider this.

The seller is negotiating with british papers for publication rights. What paper in it's right mind would publish pictures that could bring down the wrath of McCann?? These pictures must be powerful if the british media would actually publish them. There is also the stipulation that whomever gets to publish the pictures must also make sure they are delivered to the Portuguese police first.

By negotiating this way the seller can guarantee that the deal is publicized and therefore the buyer is obligated to actually publish the pictures because the public will be aware of the deal and based on the amount of money involved it will create great curiosity about what could possibly be in those pictures to make them worth so much.

And the PJ get them first....guaranteed.

I am veeeeery curious, aren't you?

If these pictures exist... well, perhaps the person who took the pix just didn't want to get involved with the McCann machine.

Maybe the picture-taker just assumed that the case was going to be solved and the appropriate people charged.

When, at least partially because there was no re-inactment and no truth-telling by the Tapas group, there was no indictment nor solution, then the picture-taker decided to come forward. And why shouldn't he/she make a few bucks off the case?

After seeing how anyone who chose to speak against the Mcs was treated, I can understand why someone might hope it would all just go away without having to be involved.

Dear All,

The book Maddie The Truth About a Lie, from the former investigator of Portuguese criminal police (PJ) Gonçalo Amaral, has sold 140.000 copies in 2 weeks. At the end of the present week there will be printed and placed on the market 30.000 new copies more, attaining 11 editions and 170.000 copies placed in the same period.

The book intends to help the quest for the material truth and the accomplishment of justice on the investigation known as the “Maddie Case”.

After being received with the greatest interest from the public and the press, Maddie The Truth About a Lie is top-seller in all the most important top-selling charters of Portuguese book chains and is mentioned by booksellers as the book of the year in Portugal.

Guerra e Paz Editores has just agreed the first international sales of rights and the book will be published in Spain next September by Esquilo – Ediciones y Multimédia. The Spanish publisher will have a first print run of 20.000 copies and a sales preview of 100.000 copies until the end of 2008.

Negotiations with foreign agencies and publishers are ongoing for the selling of rights to several countries, between them such important countries as United Kingdom, France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, USA and Brazil.

Best Regards

GREAT post (IMO) by Matti on 3As

The police investigation has spawned so much odd behaviour on the part of the UK, I'm just going to sit back and wait. My gut feeling was that if the McCanns and their friends managed to escape further questioning and a reconstruction, there would be a reaction from somewhere. The case of a missing child has been handled in a way that is so corrupting, so debasing, it has required people to put their 'intelligence' on hold, just to follow the prescribed plot line.

Something has to give. It is simply not credible to have people 'marketed as innocent', by ignoring every troubling detail that suggests otherwise. The McCanns have morally lost, the minute they chose to fight their corner in such a way.

A little girl has lost everything, she was flesh and blood reduced to sets of photos that made a world acknowledge her prettiness and deny her the right to be treated as a member of the human race. She's a mystery, an intriguing puzzle, she's the reason for collecting and spending millions, she a cult for people to follow, she's a film waiting to be made, a book to be read, she's her parents' tragedy, the yawning gap in their lives, she's their excuses, an expression of their vanity, the cause of their fear, the ruination of their life, their path to a new one.

To put that right, all the rest of us can give her, is the dignity of the truth and fight to make sure the police get to be her 'fair witness'.

Tony, we've done it before, but let's see if we can put together a comprehensive list of the contradictions we know for May 3rd, maybe even May 1st.

Then maybe we can pick through and decide which are reasonable contradictions and which ones are evidence of something else.

That's a great idea.

We can start with cuddle cat. It was reported all over that cuddle cat was left in a high shelf that only an adult could place and that's why Kate thought somebody took her daughter. There was not such a shelf in the room and police report places cuddle cat in bed.

Thoughts?

I always think of the shutters having been reported to every person the McCanns spoke to that night as being "smashed" or "jimmied" but then the police found no evidence of any tampering.

Then there is the revised version that the window and shutters were open but recent reports have indicated that the only fingerprints found on the window or shutters belonged to Kate McCann.

You make some really good points. Thoughts I haven't considered. Hopefully it is as you suggest, and not just another greedy paw stirring the pot. I'm praying this is the break the case needs.

I hope these pictures will help find Madeleine....or at least the person(s) responsible for her disappearance.

Okay, so here's the list so far:

1) Position of Cuddle Cat. Kate's accounts say that she knew immediately Madeleine had been taken, and the position of Cuddle Cat showed that. However, the photos show Cuddle Cat on the pillow. (I don't know if we have an actual quote of Kate saying that the toy was on a high shelf, so I haven't included that detail. )

2) Shutters open/closed/jimmied open. The shutters were the second item that spoke to abduction; yet the police reported that there were no obvious signs of tampering. (Do we have a photo of the shutters from that night?)
